RACE ONE Breaking thorough for his first Qld victory last start at Redcliffe when unbothered in front to take them all the way, MUSCLE BART (10) will be searching for his first win here at Brisbane’s pacing headquarters. After running CLASSIE WASHINGTON to a head two back, he can reverse it here. CLASSIE WASHINGTON (6) finally claimed a breakthrough win in qualifying company but still had to do it the tough way last start when sitting parked and not helped by a flat tyre in the closing stages. With form around some of the top 4YOs leading into that, he can look for the repeat. DAZZLE ME (2) has faced some tough gates in recent starts and should appreciate the improved alley here. Able to run the gate and then take cover, he has podium claims in this. CAMANCHI WARRIOR (1) was trying to make closing metres last start when 3rd to TITIAN RAIDER. He maps for the easy trip against the markers and can be searching for the gaps when it gets busy. SELECTIONS: MUSCLE BART (10), CLASSIE WASHINGTON (6), DAZZLE ME (2), CAMANCHI WARRIOR (1) SUGGESTED BET: MUSCLE BART (10) to win
RACE TWO A tricky contest here where MANILA PLAYBOY (8) will need to have some things go his way but if he can lob the right spot, he looms as a big threat. Luckless int eh Redcliffe Cup after striking trouble, he was large in defeat when just a neck from HOT AND TREACHEROUS the start prior. Just needs luck. SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (6) trailed them home in the Patrons Purse last start after facing a second line gate. Overcoming gate 6 here two starts back when pressing forward to take control, he made it two on the bounce following a tough win over the mile. Despite the tricky gate, he can challenge. BETTERTHANAROCKET (2) was rattling home two back to get within a head of subsequent Redcliffe Derby winner ROCKNROLL HAMMER. Midfield last start, he can be handy enough to chime in. SELECTIONS: MANILA PLAYBOY (8), SUMOMENTSOMEWHERE (6), BETTERTHANAROCKET (2), PETES SAID SO (10) SUGGESTED BET: MANILA PLAYBOY (8) to win
RACE THREE This race shapes as the age-old conundrum of class versus map. Going to side with class and despite the second line CANTFINDABETTORMAN (9) can look to frank a likely Rising Sun start with another win here. Overcoming gate 10 at the 13 furlongs last start in a strong last half, he can arrive. NERANO (6) was first up for the Grimson stable last start when claiming victory over the Menangle 2300 to make it a hat-trick of victories against his name. Claiming a mile win from the trail two starts back, he can get forward to throw it down. MR MCLAREN (1) is chasing a hat-trick of wins after successive victories over this trip when leading throughout on both occasions. He is up in class but secures the map advantage. GOVERNOR JUJON (10) was buried away in the Redcliffe Cup last start when searching for some open space to make an offering. It did not arrive as he finished midfield. He gets podium claims here. SELECTIONS: CANTFINDABETTORMAN (9), NERANO (6), MR MCLAREN (1), GOVERNOR JUJON (10) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE FOUR
With the benefit of her best gate for some time FAIRY TINKABELL (2) can look to fire off the arm and doing her best work in front, the gate should be ideal. Not suited from outside the second line last start at Redcliffe, she went too hard at Menangle two back. It profiles ideally for her to cash in. MANHATTAN (9) was huge in defeat at Redcliffe last week in the Princess of the Bay after sitting parked and continuing to pour on the pressure. Digging in for the fight to hold on for 3rd in a new mare’s class record as the winner darted up the passing lane, she can issue the challenge again. YARRAMAN BELLA (1) was a winner from the 1x1 trail two starts back after sliding across from gate 6 to secure position. Tucked in behind the speed, she can be ready to strike in the stretch. B K SWY (3) arrives a last start Menangle winner after easing from gate 10 before climbing over the top of them to take a 2m margin. Fitter again after three runs back from a break, she is right in this. SELECTIONS: FAIRY TINKABELL (2), MANHATTAN (9), YARRAMAN BELLA (1), B K SWY (3) SUGGESTED BET: FAIRY TINKABELL (2) to win
RACE FIVE With a Rising Sun ballot exemption on off to the winner, just 3YOs are stepping up to tackle some strong 4YOs. Of those, SPEAK THE TRUTH (5) draws awkwardly but looks to have the edge after charging home in the Patrons Purse for 3rd behind LEP TO FAME. He looks the one to beat. FOR REAL LIFE (2) comes into this off a Redcliffe Sales Series Sweep, claiming the final in effortless fashion with a front-end blitz where he pulled clear over the 2040 trip to take a 20m margin. From the gate he can press forward to settle handy and throw down the challenge. DANGERZONE (12) was able to overcome the second line here two starts back when charging over the top of them. That has been franked with 2 of the next 3 over the line subsequent winners and with a cart home, he can feature. BANGKOK DEEJAY (13) was taken back early last start from gate 5 before finishing hard in a 70Final to finish runner-up. A smart winner two starts back, he is strong off speed. SELECTIONS: SPEAK THE TRUTH (5), FOR REAL LIFE (2), DANGERZONE (12), BANGKOK DEEJAY (13) SUGGESTED BET: SPEAK THE TRUTH (5) to win
RACE SIX GO COLOUR MY WORLD (3) will be chasing a hat-trick of victories after successive wins here at HQ. Overcoming the second line to score here two starts back when second up, he then took them all the way last start from gate 5. With added experience, he can get forward to stake his claim. LETS GO BAILEY (5) was sent forward form gate 7 last time and taking a good look early on was forced to sit parked before wilting under the toll. Chasing three on the bounce in that contest, he beat the older horses at Redcliffe second up and can look to issue the challenge here. SPLASHNDASH (1) has proven effective off cover and will be securing the ideal trip here. Claiming the Breeders Consolation two starts back from the trail, he grabbed 3rd last time. He will be stalking. QUIK CHANGE (8) claimed the Breeders when descending late to claim the prize. RACE SEVEN Group 1 Triad winner CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7) continues his quest towards The Hayden off the back of a scintillating Redcliffe victory where he worked forward from gate 5 and sizzled home in 55 flat, breaking 27 for the last panel. Fitter again after two runs back from a spell, he can overcome gate 7. MAKARA (1) was big in victory here last start when sitting parked from gate 7 last start, finishing them off with a 27.1 closing split. Grabbing the bronze behind the Derby bound AARDIES FLASH the start prior, he comes up with all the options from the ace to issue the challenge. RED RIGHT HAND (4) faced the second line last start and was wide off the track trying to make a closing raid when 6m from BEACH VILLA. Winning both prior starts he is right in the fight again. SIR RICHARD LEE (10) is yet to miss the money in six Qld appearances, with five of them here at The Creek. Grabbing 2nd at Redcliffe last week behind MUSCLE BART, he can be joining in late. SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7), MAKARA (1), RED RIGHT HAND (4), SIR RICHARD LEE (10) SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (7) to win
RACE EIGHT The early tempo looks white hot for this edition of the Wondais Mate and the track record holder BLACKSADANCE (1) holds all the keys to this contest. A quick beginner without being brilliant off the arm, he might need to be looking for space to get back around for a retake? However, he can do it, he lands his chance to flex. I CAST NO SHADOW (8) was brave second up from a spell when sitting parked throughout over the long trip after working around from the second line. IN for the fight to be just 2m from the passing lane winner BIG WHEELS, he won the Inter Dominion up the passing lane and can throw it down. MAJOR MEISTER (2) returned from a spell at Menangle where he started fav and was sent forward from gate 5 to set the tempo at the 2300m trip. With a last panel blitz, he was unable to see it out in holding 2nd behind NERANO. He has the gate to be forward early and issue the challenge. BIG WHEELS (11) has proven to be super effective off pace and in a race with guaranteed tempo, he can be the smokey to descend on them. Taking his shot to claim the Lucky Creed up the passing lane last start, look for him late. SELECTIONS: BLACKSADANCE (1), I CAST NO SHADOW (8), BONDI LOCKDOWN (9), BIG WHEELS (11) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE NINE Round 2 of the DJA heats where a few better credentialed performers need to step up this week to qualify. Not ideally suited at the 13 furlongs, the task was made even tougher for INDEFENSIBLE (5) in the first round when asked to sit parked throughout. Sticking on gamely to be just out of the money, he is safe off the tapes and can get forward to chase maximum points. CALL ME TROUBLE (13) was brilliant in victory in the first round, safely into stride before moving around them, taking control and keeping them rolling to ultimately pull clear to a 27m victory. He can do a few things wrong, but anything near his effort last week wins this. JACCKA WATCH (1) was shuffled back in the run in last week’s heat but was best of the chasers when breaking free to set out after the big winner CALL ME TROUBLE. Another soft trip looks ideal. HAMMERS LAW (9) has placed in 9 of 12 this season and in Round 1 made the early move to take control with 1800m to travel. Holding 2nd, the return to the middle trip should be right in his favour. SELECTIONS: INDEFENSIBLE (5), CALL ME TROUBLE (13), JACCKA WATCH (1), HAMMERS LAW (9) SUGGESTED BET: INDEFENSIBLE (5) to win
RACE TEN
The second of the two DJA Heats and quite a few of these will need to maximise points to get through to the final. ALDEBARAN MISTY (5) should be right for points after a first-round win, stepping cleanly, releasing and then sniping up the passing lane. A repeat effort is within reach. OVERANDOUT (7) is the least experienced trotter in the series with just 15 career starts but he does boast an almost 50%-win strike rate with his 7 victories. An early error proved costly in finding position in the first round, but he finished it off well enough and back to 2138 should aid his cause. SIR FAHRENHEIT (12) was resuming from a spell here last week in the first round when beginning perfectly but then snookered six back in the run. Tightened from that, he is right in the mix of this. NORTIE NORTIE (1) got it all wrong last week soon after the start, his chances expiring with the error. From the inside lane, with better manners he can bob up, while visitors SMOKIN BANDAR (9) and VICTREE HILL (8) cannot be forgotten. SELECTIONS: ALDEBARAN MISTY (5), OVERANDOUT (7), SIR FAHRENHEIT (12), NORTIE NORTIE (1) SUGGESTED BET: OVERANDOUT (7) each-way
RACE ELEVEN
A small but competitive 3YO contest to close the card where NEPTUNE (1) lands all the favours from the gate. Pressing forward to take control at his first Qld run here two starts back at this trip, he blew the opposition away with a sub 55 closing half. Strong to the line last start, this appeals. DOUGS PLATTER (3) makes the trip North for Geoff Webster, arriving with a last start Melton 3rd behind subsequent winner FINAL COLLECT. Under 2m from that winner after overcoming a second line gate, he has good arm hustle and after three successive second line gates, can throw it down. BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (4) never appeared comfortable in the Redcliffe Derby Consolation when eased to sit three poles and hitting dead ends. 5 from 6 here at The Creek, look for the bounce back. OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (6) was left exposed at Redcliffe last week and forced to sit parked and not entirely comfortable on the track led to him wilting. First up off a break there, he can be sharper. SELECTIONS: NEPTUNE (1), DOUGS PLATTER (3), BOLD MEDLEY JUJON (4), OUR SUNSET DELIGHT (6) SUGGESTED BET: NEPTUNE (1) to win
