RACE ONE
COPY WRITER (1) held the 1x1 trail from the second line last start and chased when holding 3rd over the Marburg 1850. Freshened since that outing, her record here at Redcliffe is tidy at 15: 3-3-1 and with the options available form the inside alley can look to capitalise. ART ON FIRE (7) eased from gate 5 over the AP 2138 last start and made some late metres as MERRY DANCER dictated in front. Asked to grind it out first over on this deck two starts back, he maps for the soft trip in behind the speed and will be ready to issue a challenge when the gap opens. LITTLE CHANGE (5) found the running line from outside the second line last start and tracking into the race perfectly, descended on them to score. Positioning cheaply will be key to his chances at career start 250. MIDNIGHT SOMEWHERE (9) did not have much go his way last start at The Creek where he was caught wide early trying to secure position. Too slick in front two back, he can chime in here. SELECTIONS: COPY WRITER (1), ART ON FIRE (7), LITTLE CHANGE (5), MIDNIGHT SOMEWHERE (9) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TWO MALINJANG (2) made full use of gate 1 here three starts back when taking control over this trip and leading throughout to claim a 3m margin. Snagged back from gate 6 at his next appearance, he struck trouble last start which ended his day. Firing early bullets, he can look to capitalise. VALLANI MAGIC (1) settled back in the pack from her second line gate last start and had the closing power to arrive for a 2m margin. Runner-up to FOR NO REASON the start prior, her numbers at the middle trip show 0 from 17, but with a soft trip first up for the new stable, she can challenge. MISSTREPO (3) started from this same gate last start and was in the running line and made strong metres in the closing stages to finish 3m from the winner OCTOBER RACKETEER. She can feature again. JOHNROD (7) started from the ace last start and was buried three back in the run. Needing to press hard off the arm to maintain a spot, the economical trip can see him grab a minor. SELECTIONS: MALINJANG (2), VALLANI MAGIC (1), MISSTREPO (3), JOHNROD (7) SUGGESTED BET: MALINJANG (2), to win
RACE THREE THE GROGMOTHER (1) tackled a Triad heat last start where she went searching for shortcuts from the second line but could not get into the battle over the latter stages. Asked to hang tough first over two starts back, she has the gate to burrow through and from the front can see this out. VERMONT (8) was beaten by gate 6 last start when retreating for the fence and chasing home behind subsequent winner DIEGO DELGADO. Snagged back two starts back when first up off a freshen, she can follow through early here to find position and look to issue a late raid. DONNY JONES (9) has been working himself back into some handy form and lines up here after placings at his past two. Darting through on the passing lane last start when 3m away, he can join in. ROLLONX (2) was locked away three back from inside the second line last time out and could not get into the contest. Placed in both prior starts, he can be looking to chime in. SELECTIONS: THE GROGMOTHER (1), VERMONT (8), DONNY JONES (9), ROLLONX (2) SUGGESTED BET: THE GROGMOTHER (1) to win
RACE FOUR
THERESACHANCE (1) fired out to lead early over the 2040 here on Thursday but released to the eventual winner ESCOBAR. Finishing out of the money, he tried to take them all the way here two starts back when collared right on the wire. Back to the 1780, he will be looking to see it out. PRESS STATEMENT (4) has been in top form here at Redcliffe and converted that at HQ last start when firing out from gate 2 to lead throughout and claim a career PB at the mile in 1.54.9. That followed a smart win here two starts back and with four from his past six, will throw it down again. DIDSHEDOIT (7) was a winner at her first look at The Triangle here two starts back after settling in the running line and owning superior closing power. Tackling mare’s qualifiers at her past two, she will be stalking the speed. SPORT MENTAL (2) took cover from gate 1 last start and was trying to reel in PRESS STATEMENT but could only get within 4m. Settling handy from this gate can see her chase a podium. SELECTIONS: THERESACHANCE (1), PRESS STATEMENT (4), DIDSHEDOIT (7), SPORT MENTAL (2) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-4-7
RACE FIVE HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (8) angled to the inside from this alley last start where he was searching for gaps as TUNGSTEN TERROR took them all the way. He has met some stronger opposition in recent starts and trailing through early, can be in the right position to capitalise. PURPLE SHADES (7) will be needing some factors in his favour at some point from this gate as he looks in danger of being snookered in the run. 2m away when runner-up from the trail behind JET FORCE last start, he will be probing for the openings to take his shot. JAMAICAN RESORT (2) was trying to lead throughout from gate 1 last but was out of credit turning for home. That was as stronger line up than he faces here and he can bounce back from this alley. BUSTN FEELZ GOOD (9) found the ideal set up here last week and darting hard off the arm found the front from gate 5 and was never headed. The outside second line makes it a tougher ask this time. SELECTIONS: HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (8), PURPLE SHADES (7), JAMAICAN RESORT (2), BUSTN FEELZ GOOD (9) SUGGESTED BET: HOLDINGNO CURRENCY (8) to win
RACE SIX WHATA REACTOR (8) is used to the second row after her past four starts have all been when drawn out the back. With a passage that was not clear last start after angling to the inside, she will be hoping to improve her record at the middle trip in a race where the 2040 will be the biggest factor on the race. AWAYOVERNIGHT (7) started from inside the second line last time out where he was soon angled off the inside into the running line but could not get warm as WAT NNOW SHANNON took the win. Asked to hang tough when parked two starts back, he will be searching for the openings. ZED EXPRESS (3) has just one minor in four attempts beyond the sprint which is a big concern in a long career. Placed at his past three starts, they have all been at 1780 and a placing looks best again. MELTON MAX GENTLE (1) comes up with the perfect gate and has placed at his past two, the latest a tough effort after sitting parked. He has the speed to protect the inside here which puts him right in the frame. SELECTIONS: WHATA REACTOR (8), AWAYOVERNIGHT (7), ZED EXPRESS (3), MELTON MAX GENTLE (1) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE SEVEN BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) was snagged off the arm here two runs back and from deep field made some late metres to be 8m adrift of the winner. Not suited last start at the 2040, he can press ahead here and with the two main players in 5 and 6, look to maintain the advantage. TRUE GRIT SHADOW (6) faced this same gate last week and was sent forward to sit parked where despite the tough run he was able to grind out the silver when 3m astern of the winner. A similar scenario sets up here and he will be issuing the challenge. HOIHO (8) is a newcomer to Qld that joins the Jonah Hutchinson barn. The winner of 16 lifetime races, he has not shown his best in recent months, but a change of scenery can revitalise him. AROONA (3) is still chasing a win in 2023 after 15 attempts have come up short. Releasing last start from gate 1 after burrowing through, he can settle forward here and look for the money. SELECTIONS: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5), TRUE GRIT SHADOW (6), HOIHO (8), AROONA (3) SUGGESTED BET: BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) to win
