RACE ONE
These up to NR40 races can be tough to dissect at times but this one should see HESLUVABLE (2) show the speed to take control and from the front look to dictate. Winning with ease over the 2040 at Redcliffe two starts back from the second line, back to this grade should be ideal. BETTING BARON (1) worked forward to take control over the 1780 at Redcliffe last start and from the front faded in the latter stages to finish near the rear. With the chance to tuck in behind the speed here and be saved for one shot, he can be in position to issue a challenge. STARS OF AMERICA (8) was first up for the new stable three runs back and was able to burrow through from gate 1 and fight them off. Strong to the line at his next appearance, he will be probing. MAN OF ACTION (6) was a Marburg winner three runs back from the second line and followed that with a head defeat at Redcliffe. Tough in defeat last start, he may need to hang tough again. SELECTIONS: HESLUVABLE (2), BETTING BARON (1), STARS OF AMERICA (8), MAN OF ACTION (6) SUGGESTED BET: HESLUVABLE (2) to win
RACE TWO Resuming from a spell last time out at Redcliffe, CRADOCK (5) was travelling sweetly in behind the speed until striking trouble in a scrimmage and put out of business. Placed nine times across two seasons, a maiden breaking win has proven elusive, but he might just have found his chance. MULLUM ROXY (4) is a Changeover filly on debut for Daren Garrard. The first foal to race out of the four-time winner Kellyrox, her preparatory trials suggest that this level of maiden is within reach. Runner-up to the handy 2YO ROCKON ROCKY when qualifying, she stays under watch. MARKSMAN (2) sat in the trail last start and was keen in the run when fading out to the rear. Looking to lead throughout at Redcliffe two back, he has the arm hustle to make a play. LADY ANTHEIA (3) has placed at her past four in succession, the latest when 3rd at Redcliffe to ON DA NOD in a race marred by interference. Settling handy, she can grab another minor here. SELECTIONS: CRADOCK (5), MULLUM ROXY (4), MARKSMAN (2), LADY ANTHEIA (3) SUGGESTED BET: CRADOCK (5) to win
RACE THREE Settled in deep field last start from outside the second line, FLY CHEVAL (6) was hitting the line strongly when runner-up to BUKTHSYSTEM here last week. Eased from gate 5 and never in the mix the start prior, this is another open, up to NR40 event and off last start, she can pinch this. SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (7) will strip fitter following his latest outing when returning from a spell. Faced with the outside second line on that occasion, he was sent to the post as fav when midfield to IT AINT ROYAL. Despite the gate, this is open enough for him to issue a challenge. MY CHINA DOLL (10) has had her runs spaced in recent months and was strong to the line here last start to grab the bronze behind BUKTHSYSTEM. The gate makes it another tough ask. ROCCO VARIETY (2) is still chasing an elusive win on this deck after 19 previous attempts have seen him come up short. Releasing the speed here two starts back and holding 3rd, he has claims again. SELECTIONS: FLY CHEVAL (6), SIR SEMPER FIDELIS (7), MY CHINA DOLL (10), ROCCO VARIETY (2) SUGGESTED BET: FLY CHEVAL (6) to win
RACE FOUR
Tackling a mare’s qualifier last start when sent out as fav, SHEZA CRACKER (6) went straight to the front from gate 2. With a steady 59.9 middle half, she was unable to see it out, fading out of the money. Runner-up in both prior starts, she can defy the wide gate in this line up. THREE PARTS GREY (8) was first up for the new stable last start when taken to Redcliffe over the 1780. Settling back in the pack, she owned superior closing power to descend on them and claim a 3m margin. With the soft trip likely from this gate, she will be tucked away and awaiting the gaps. CHARLIE POTATOE (1) is still a maiden 2YO tackling some experienced performers here but does secure some mapping advantage. Just a half-neck from taking them all the way last start, he is in the mix. IT AINT ROYAL (2) forced the issue here two starts back and once in control was able to fight them off in claiming a 5m margin. He lacks the early punch to capitalise on the green light but can still feature. SELECTIONS: SHEZA CRACKER (6), THREE PARTS GREY (8), CHARLIE POTATOE (1), IT AINT ROYAL (2) SUGGESTED BET: SHEZA CRACKER (6) to win
RACE FIVE Despite landing the outside paint, the recent efforts of GELDOF (7) have been such that he can look to force the issue here and look to strong arm them. Posting a sub 27 opener to lead here two starts back, he was able to fight them off to score. Not far away last time, he is up to this. ARTS PEREGRINE (4) found running line cover last start before trying to make a closing raid, running on late to be under 5m from the winner MOTU CULLEN. Luckless the start prior when searching for a gap that did not materialise, he can be looking to issue the closing challenge. BALBOA SHANNON (6) was banished to the trials last start after firing up in the run and choking off. Earning the return with a steady effort, he can get forward to make a play. FRAYA (9) returns from a spell and finds the right race to sit off the tempo and be saved for a closing rally. Last seen in the 3YO Fillies Triad Final, she can be chiming in over the latter stages. SELECTIONS: GELDOF (7), ARTS PEREGRINE (4), BALBOA SHANNON (6), FRAYA (9) SUGGESTED BET: GELDOF (7) to win
RACE SIX At his best when able to free wheel and power run the mile, FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (2) was able to do just that last start when pressing on from gate 7 to take them all the way. Pulling cleat to a big win in electric time three runs back, it will be catch me if you can here, and they probably cannot. LOUTENANT (8) is a 4YO gelding making his first Qld appearance for Jack Butler, arriving from the North Island of NZ as a four-time winner. He comes into this contest first up with no local trial and his last public appearance back in July at Cambridge. A soft trip appeals first up. OHOKA JIMMY (1) can tuck in behind the speed here and be trying to go with them over the closing stages. Not too far from them last start at Redcliffe, the poles will be the place to play this. BETTING ORIGIN (4) was forced to sit parked outside FRANKIE FEROCIOUS last start and was mighty brave in defeat to hang tough and hold 3rd. Another tough run looks likely. SELECTIONS: FRANKIE FEROCIOUS (2), LOUTENANT (8), OHOKA JIMMY (1), BETTING ORIGIN (4) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 2 / 1-4-8
RACE SEVEN Overcoming the outside front line last time out, SPORTING RAGE (9) was sent forward to sit parked and despite the tough run was able to grind it out at the middle trip to take victory. A winner three back when pulling clear to a big margin, he has drawn gate 7 in all three Qld starts and should appreciate a trailing gate here. KHULAN KID (3) was faced with the outside front line gate last time out and was making some late metres after restraining in the early stages. Chasing home for placings in both prior starts behind the bold running IM BOO, he lands the improved gate to throw down the challenge. MOTU CULLEN (6) was second up from a spell last start when sliding across from gate 5 at the mile to find the 1x1 trail. Finishing best to claim victory, he will rely on some tempo to feature here. THUNDAMENTAL (1) burrowed through from gate 1 over the 2040 at Redcliffe last start when looking to lead throughout. Grabbed late when 5m from the winner, he can feature off this gate. SELECTIONS: SPORTING RAGE (9), KHULAN KID (3), MOTU CULLEN (6), THUNDAMENTAL (1) SUGGESTED BET: SPORTING RAGE (9) to win
