RACE ONE
Sent hard for the front last start over this same trip, ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (2) was able to take control and once in front was able to keep them chasing to post a 2m margin. Not far away the start prior when snookered on the fence, he can look for the lamp lighting duties. ALTA SENSATION (1) angled to the fence last start in a sizzling mile pounded out in front by DUKE OF SCOTLAND and chased home to be just behind the money. Only 5m away the start prior despite a checkered trip, he secures the options to issue the challenge. ROCKNPENNY (5) has been a model of consistency without landing the breakthrough. Holding 3rd behind DUKE OF SCOTLAND last week, he faces a tricky gate here. TOSSIES SON (9) is chasing a hat-trick after wins at the middle trip and then the mile. Finishing over the top of them last start at the mile after starting from the second line, he has claims.
SELECTIONS: ALWAYS LOCKSLEY (2), ALTA SENSATION (1), ROCKNPENNY (5), TOSSIES SON (9) SUGGESTED BET:
RACE TWO
Forced to chair up here last week over the mile, ALWAYS SMOKIN (2) was game in defeat and still giving on the line to be just 2m from HOT AND TREACHEROUS in a 1.51.1 mile. A winner in front when breaking 50 at this trip three back, he can take some catching if he gets in front. TIMS A TROOPER (1) will be further tightened from his run here last week when resuming after an injury put him on the sidelines since February. Only 9m away, he was searching for the gaps and his last 100m when spotting open road was sharp. He can throw it down. CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (5) did his share of work when first up from a spell and sitting wide from gate 6 when runner-up to MR MCLAREN through a 54.8 last half. The awkward gate stings. ALTA MAGACIAN (8) took the trail here last week from gate 1 and trying to make late metres was just 2m astern of the winner. With the soft trip, he can again be searching for the gaps.
SELECTIONS: ALWAYS SMOKIN (2), TIMS A TROOPER (1), CAPTAIN SHUFFLES (5), ALTA MAGACIAN (8) SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 1-2-5-8
RACE THREE
Chasing a hat-trick last start when snookered from the inside second line, AURORA JOY (6) hit the line in good order despite never really being a winning chance. Descending on them from a second line gate two starts back, she can handle the middle trip and can arrive over the top. THE VIXEN (10) settled in the running line from a second line gate last start and with a good tempo through the opening 1200, made her move at the right time, sprinting up smartly to grab the prize. Hitting the board in all five attempts beyond a mile, she can issue the challenge here. SMOKESHOW (4) was locked away on the inside here two starts back and picked a few off late to grab the bronze. Finding front before releasing last start, she can be handy enough to feature. BLING THE LUCK (1) was exposed early before finding the 1x1 trail last start in finishing midfield behind THE VIXEN. The gate is a huge plus to her podium hopes.
SELECTIONS: AURORA JOY (6), THE VIXEN (10), SMOKESHOW (4), BLING THE LUCK (1) SUGGESTED BET: AURORA JOY (6) to win
RACE FOUR
A return to winning form has seen TARGARYEN (2) claim three wins in his past five starts, the latest when taken to the grass at Warwick and claiming their Cup. Two starts back he tackled the Be Good Johnny Sprint and back into this grade, looks a tough nit to crack. BETTERTHANPOPSY (1) has been in consistent touch in recent appearances, the latest when grabbing the bronze from this same gate after securing the pocket trip over the 2138. With another economical trip, this time at the mile, he can look to issue a challenge. AMAMI (6) is afforded no favours from a tough gate but has been in good touch. Just behind the money last start after being exposed early, he can feature. GLOVER (9) might just be going a little better than the numbers reveal, the latest when down the line over the middle trip. With the right cart through from the gate, he can be entertained.
SELECTIONS: TARGARYEN (2), BETTERTHANPOPSY (1), AMAMI (6), GLOVER (9) SUGGESTED BET: TARGARYEN (2) to win
RACE FIVE
Taking benefit from his run here last week when resuming from a spell, MYDADSAID (2) will appreciate an improved gate after facing gate 5 in the return. Doing his share of early work and fighting hard in the stretch, he has the improved gate to help stake his claim. THROWYAARMSAROUNDME (1) eased from gate 7 over the middle trip last week and was looking to make closing ground when under 3m from the winner RACING TIME. Wide off the track over the latter stages the start prior when runner-up to HIRANYA, the gate looks ideal. R ELEVEN ART (7) is afforded no favours from the outside gate, however both runs back in Qld following a NSW campaign have been full of merit. Runner-up last start, he is in the mix. WHATA ROLLER (6) faced a wide gate last start when eased for position before closing well. With strong tempo and positioning cheaply, he can look to make a late raid.
SELECTIONS: MYDADSAID (2), THROWYAARMSAROUNDME (1), R ELEVEN ART (7), WHATA ROLLER (6) SUGGESTED BET: MYDADSAID (2) to win
RACE SIX
This shapes as a battle of the stablemates and battle of the sexes. The filly AARDIE B MIKI (9) is chasing a hat-trick after winning against the open age mares in the Queen of The Creek and following that with a rout of her own age. She has the closing speed to assert her dominance. THE JANITOR (6) is chasing a threepeat of his own after successive Saturday night victories. A gritty win at the middle trip when parked was followed with another starchy effort here last week over the sprint trip. The wide gate stings his hopes, but he is classy and will throw it down. IRON CLAD (4) held the trail from the inside gate here last week when holding on for the bronze behind THE JANITOR. He can get handy to chase another minor. BRONSKI ZULU (8) resumes from a spell here following his last start victory in the Triad Final back in August. Not sighted at the trials, a soft trip fresh gives him podium claims.
SELECTIONS: AARDIE B MIKI (9), THE JANITOR (6), IRON CLAD (4), BRONSKI ZULU (8) SUGGESTED BET: AARDIE B MIKI (9) to win
RACE SEVEN
Despite ranking in the top-12 for ID24, ZEALOUS SPUR (6) will stay home from the series and lines up here from the 20m tape. Hitting the line strongly behind ROYAL DAN last start to grab the silver in the Trotters Spring Sprint, his win three back was a gritty effort suggesting he can captalise here.
GET USED TO IT (4) gives away plenty of experience to his rivals here as he chases a metro win after just 11 starts. They have netted six victories, the latest when stepping away and pressing to the front and fighting them off for a smart win. If he can step cleanly, he is classy enough. VICTREE HILL (7) powered home over the top of them last start at the mobile mile, hitting the line strongly to grab a 2m margin. This will be a tougher ask made no easier by a 30m impost. BANFF (1) was making late metres last start to grab the silver when 6m from the winner GET USED TO IT. With the chance to tuck in behind the speed, he will be searching for openings. SELECTIONS: ZEALOUS SPUR (6), GET USED TO IT (4), VICTREE HILL (7), BANFF (1) SUGGESTED BET: ZEALOUS SPUR (6) to win
RACE EIGHT
Tackling an up to NR70 event last start BONNIES DANCE (2) was eased to the inside and positioned three back in the run. Making good metres when the gap presented to finish 3m from the winner, she finds the right gate and opposition to stake her claim for victory.
MISS MUCHO (7) has placed at her past two starts, the latest when attacking the line strongly after starting from outside the second line. Just a head from the winner, she is afforded no favours from the wide gate but looks well placed against these opponents to overcome the impost. SHEZ NOTORIOUS (1) will benefit from starting off the inside gate where she has the speed to determine her own position. Strong to the line last start, she is right in the fight. APHRODITE (6) was making a late raid here two starts back when just a half-neck short of victory. The wide gate dents her chances but a return to mare’s company suits.
SELECTIONS: BONNIES DANCE (2), MISS MUCHO (7), SHEZ NOTORIOUS (1), APHRODITE (6) SUGGESTED BET: BONNIES DANCE (2) to win
