Racing Queensland is pleased to provide further details regarding the picnic meetings at the Q1 Lakeside as part of the commissioning process for the new facility.

These trial meetings will provide an opportunity for industry stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the venue ahead of official race meetings.

Key Information:

Picnic meetings are not open to the public and only essential personnel are permitted to attend.

Officials in attendance – Club officials and QRIC stewards will oversee the meeting operations ensuring all facilities and processes meet the required standards prior to the first official race meeting being held.

Picnic meeting/trial meeting operations – The meetings will follow the operations of an official race meeting (Kennelling, previews/stir ups, field sheets, race times, veterinary examinations etc).

Greyhound penalties – Races at picnic meetings are not considered ‘official events’. Greyhounds will not be penalised for failing to pursue, marring, unsatisfactory performances etc.

Greyhound weights – The weight of a greyhound will not be recorded during kennelling for eligibility purposes for an official event.

Greyhound sampling – Samples may be collected from greyhounds competing at picnic meetings. Samples taken are at the discretion of the QRIC.

Race Meeting Injury Scheme – Greyhounds will be covered under RQ’s RMIS.

Nominations – Nominations will be accepted online via OzChase. Nominations will appear in OzChase as they do for official race meetings, except the Q1 Lakeside meetings will appear as “QOT Trial”.
