RACE ONE After being deserted by luck in the Rising Sun when midfield, BEYOND DELIGHT (2) looked mighty tough to beat in the 4YO Championship and was sent out deep into the red. It was not to be, and he wilted to the rear with a veterinary issue. The improved gate gives him the chance for redemption. CAPTAIN CRUSADER (1) copped a second line gate last week and was hitting the line strongly in the closing stages. Down the line in the Rising Sun two starts back after easing across from gate 5 to find the running line, he comes up with the gate to throw down the challenge. HEZ DUSTY (3) was locked away against the poles here tow starts back and was trying to make a closing raid when grabbing the silver behind PERFECT CUT. Arriving in the last strides here last week, he has podium claims. WATTS UP SUNSHINE (9) started from inside the second line last start in the 4YO Champs and sticking to the inside grabbed the bronze when under 3m from the winner. He can chime in again.
SELECTIONS: BEYOND DELIGHT (2), CAPTAIN CRUSADER (1), HEZ DUSTY (3), WATTS UP SUNSHINE (9) SUGGESTED BET: BEYOND DELIGHT (2) to win
RACE TWO BETTOR ISOLATE (10) put together three stylish performances to kick off his prep, winning all three before it all went wrong from gate 7 at Melton. Bouncing back with victory in the Rising Sun Consolation when finding the poles, releasing and then arriving in the stretch. He has the class. SAGINAW (11) was wide off the track last start when chasing home behind CANTFINDABETTORMAN. Strong to the line from gate 7 to arrive two starts back, he will be tightened from his last start. TRIPLE FOUR (9) can make full use of moving to inside the second line and will be sweating on the 1 looking to hold them all wide. His win two runs back was a sharp victory and he will be probing for the gaps to throw down a challenge. MY ULTIMATE COBBER (1) was sent forward from the second line and pressed on to take control, fighting them off in the stretch to set a new PB. This will be a step up but he has the gate.
SELECTIONS: BETTOR ISOLATE (10), SAGINAW (11), TRIPLE FOUR (9), MY ULTIMATE COBBER (1)
SUGGESTED BET: BETTOR ISOATE (10) to win
RACE THREE After being sent out at prohibitive odds last week in the Golden Girl, MAAJIDA (2) was soon buried three back in the wash-up from gate 1. Trying to find the gaps when 5m from the winner, it followed a clinical first up win from gate 4. From gate 2 there won’t be a repeat and she can atone. FAIRY TINKABELL (7) was under 3m from the winner last week, really hitting the line strongly in the stretch after starting from gate 9. With a second line alley at both runs this Qld campaign, she might just have the fuse lit to find the front and take her shot to challenge. MOMENTSLIKETHESE (9) has been runner-up at her past two starts, the latest when collared in the last strides by TOWN ECHO, going under by a neck margin. Trailing through, she can chime in again. THE HONEY QUEEN (6) threw her chances away last start when making an error on the poles after releasing to MAAJIDA. From the same gate, she can fire a shot across the bow once again. SELECTIONS: MAAJIDA (2), FAIRY TINKABELL (7), MOMENTSLIKETHESE (9), THE HONEY QUEEN (6) SUGGESTED BET: MAAJIDA (2) to win
RACE FOUR It was an effort full of merit in the DJA Final last start off the 30m tape from DOFF YOUR CAP (1) when making a late play behind GLOBAL FLIGHT. A winner at the 2647m journey in the first round of that Series, he missed last week to focus on this assignment and has landed the perfect gate. With the hustle to hold, he has all the options to cash-in. WEE MAN TROUBLE (8) loves the mobile and finds the ideal alley to burrow through and secure the perfect stalking trip. Screaming home from back in the pack in the Redcliffe Cup last start when 2nd to MAJESTIC HARRY, it followed a swooping win over this trip at the mobile from back in the pack. This is a step up, but he has the gate to challenge. TOUGH MONARCH (2) had the wide gate to negotiate here last week when second up from a spell and was obliged to hang tough first over. Fading in the closing stages, he should take benefit from the run and with the improved alley can look to defend his title in this race. CREDIT MASTER (3) secured the perfect trip here last week in the trail and when produced into the passing lane and the power to pounce. Tightened from that where he was first up, he looms large. SELECTIONS: DOFF YOUR CAP (1), WEE MAN TROUBLE (8), TOUGH MONARCH (2), CREDIT MASTER (3) SUGGESTED BET: DOFF YOUR CAP (1) to win
RACE FIVE With a steady tempo in the early stages, AMORE VITA (2) was put into the contest at the mile and moved up to sit parked outside STENO. A sapping 26.6 down the back left her flat as she wilted turning for home to finish in 5th. Dominating the Redcliffe Oaks two starts back, she lands the gate to gain redemption. STENO (5) will take great benefit from her run here last week when holding on for 3rd after running them along out in front. After a steady lead time and then first quarter, she has run the 1200 to the 400 in 55.1 and the 800 to the wire in 54.5. First up in that battle, she will be tightened from the run and looms large with this over the same trip. SOHO HISTORIA (11) is the new runner that did not contest last week’s SE Oaks, with the Emma Stewart trained filly arriving with a five-win picket fence to her name. An effortless winner running home in a 54.3 last half at Cranbourne last start, she has claims. RACY ROXY (4) made the most of her inside gate to stick to the poles and dart through to claim the primary lead up event here last week. A winner of the QBRED Breeders three runs back, she is 2 for 2 over the AP 2138m. SELECTIONS: AMORE VITA (2), STENO (5), SOHO HISTORIA (11), RACY ROXY (4) SUGGESTED BET: AMORE VITA (2) to win
RACE SIX With Queensland’s Blue Riband Classic a major target on his radar, LEAP TO FAME (11) comes into the race on the upward trajectory after two runs back from a spell. His run was a super effort in the Rising Sun and then he was game in the breeze when beaten a neck last week in the SE Derby. He looks primed the 13 furlongs. CANTFINDABETTORMAN (2) is undefeated in three starts since crossing the Tasman, chalking the hat-trick with all three wins on this deck. Finding the trail soon after the start in the SE Derby was the winning move, taking his shot up the passing lane to score. Finding the pegs, he can look for the trail and stalk once again. TIMS A TROOPER (10) copped gate 7 last week and when easing to secure position then did not receive the smoothest passage. Placed in both the Qld Sun and then the Rising Sun Consolation at both previous starts, place claims appeal. MUSCLE BART (1) gets the big turnaround in fortunes from last week’s Derby where he copped the outside second line alley. A pass mark to finish midfield, the peg trip here is a big plus. SELECTIONS: LEAP TO FAME (11), CANTFINDABETTORMAN (2), TIMS A TROOPER (10), MUSCLE BART (1) SUGGESTED BET: LEAP TO FAME (11) to win
RACE SEVEN It is hard to reconcile that MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2) is winless this season with arguably no horse knocking on the door more than this guy. Charging home for 2nd to ROCKIN MARTY in last week’s quasi–Sunshine Sprint Consolation, he lines up in what is effectively the Blacks A Fake consolation with his best barrier in recent weeks. This looks his chance. I CAST NO SHADOW (9) has just the 2 minors in 8 attempts beyond 2400 and has missed the board in both runs here at The Creek this campaign. Locked away on the poles from gate 1 in the Sunshine Sprint, he was searching for the openings when 6m astern. With the right trail early, he finds conditions to challenge. A GS WHITE SOCKS (4) was sent around them to sit parked from the second line last start but after the tough trip wilted in the closing stages up the stretch. The longer trip should be more suitable. MALCOLMS RHYTHM (13) started from inside the second line over the flying mile here last start and hemmed away three back was using the passing lane when runner-up to APHORISM. The longer trip should be in his favour. SELECTIONS: MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2), I CAST NO SHADOW (9), A GS WHITE SOCKS (4), MALCOLMS RHYTHM (13) SUGGESTED BET: MAKE MINE MEMPHIS (2) to win
RACE EIGHT
SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS (3) found the poles in the Sunshine Sprint and after being pushed to three back as BETTER ECLIPSE moved to the front at the 1000m, looked in a spot of bother. Attacking in the closing stages to grab the silver, it was an improved effort from a flat one the week prior. With the early spot finding, he might just get to the front and from there take some stopping.
MACH SHARD (11) finished in 4th, 6m from the winner BETTER ECLIPSE. His run in the Mr Feelgood two starts back was a luckless affair and three back was large when wide off the track in the Redcliffe Cup. With early speed and positional changes, the extra trip will suit. ROCKIN MARTY (12) loves The Creek and charged home over the top of them again last week in the Sunshine Sprint Consolation after he was desperately unlucky not to gain a ticket to the big one. Runner-up in this race last year, he will be powering up in the closing stages. MAJESTIC CRUISER (4) has been building towards this race and after four runs here at The Creek, lands his best gate to date and his runs have been meritorious. Forced to work hard last week when sticking on gamely, he was a handy 3rd to TRIPLE EIGHT the week prior. He is right in the fight. SELECTIONS: MACH SHARD (11), SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS (3), ROCKIN MARTY (12), MAJESTIC CRUISER (4) SUGGESTED BET: MACH SHARD (11) each-way
RACE NINE Finding the poles from gate 3 before releasing for the trail last start, ONE BIG SHEW (1) found open road and charged over the top to take a 7m margin in a new career benchmark. Not suited two starts back when sent to sit parked from the second line, he lands all the options to capitalise. TEAGAN BANNER (3) had his chances ended last start in the Western Star at Marburg when striking trouble after landing a second line alley. Off the second line at Redcliffe two back, LAMANDIER was too slippery. With early hustle he can fire across to the poles and finds conditions to challenge. CALA JANE (8) made the most of the perfect trip in behind the speed here last time out, making the closing attack up the passing lane a winning one. With another cosy trip here, she can join in. YOUNG CONQUEROR (5) started from gate 4 last time out and pressing to the front was obliged to grind it out first over when holding on for 3rd behind CALA JANE. He will need to work again. SELECTIONS: ONE BIG SHEW (1), TEAGAN BANNER (3), CALA JANE (8), YOUNG CONQUEROR (5) SUGGESTED BET: ONE BIG SHEW (1) to win
RACE TEN Finding the front here last start in a small field in the Paleface Adios, SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (3) was travelling nicely and after running them through a slick 27.1 third panel looked to have his chasers in strife, only to throw his chances away with an error. Earning the return at the trials in nice fashion, he can bounce back. FOR REAL LIFE (7) was mighty brave in defeat in the Redcliffe Sales Final when running TARDELLI to a 3m margin after making a sustained run from back in the pack after starting from gate 9. Far too classy last start when pouncing on the poles from gate 2 and taking an effortless win, he can look to throw it down. MY ULTIMATE JACKO (5) has had two runs back from a spell, finishing in 2nd in both runs through the recent APG series behind JEWEL MELODY. Fitter again from last week, he faces a tricky gate. LADY DIGBY (1) landed the win here three starts back to open her winning account and has placed in both starts since, the latest with a 4-week gap between outings. The gate helps her podium hopes. SELECTIONS: SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (3), FOR REAL LIFE (7), MY ULTIMATE JACKO (5), LADY DIGBY (1) SUGGESTED BET: SMIRKS LIKA BOSS (3) to win
