Even start. HOUDINI HI was slow to begin. Approaching the turn out of the front straight GOTCHA RACIN’ was checked and lost ground. Rounding the turn out of the front straight HOUDINI HI was checked for racing room and lost ground. Rounding the turn into the back straight HOUDINI HI contacted the heels of GOTCHA RACIN’ causing both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground. Rounding the turn out of the back straight TIJUANA TEMPO raced wide.
FEISTY FIE and LORIAN ADITI were best to begin. MASTER CODY was slow out. Leaving the front straight DOWN THEY CAME made contact with the running rail, was hampered and lost ground.
Ms. F Currey the trainer of FEISTY FIE explained that the greyhound usually begins well and she was expecting FEISTY FIE to lead in tonight’s event. She was of the view that when the greyhound didn’t accelerate after beginning well and had to race mid field it may have received some tightening which affected its performance. The greyhound FEISTY FIE was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
The greyhound DOWN THEY CAME was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 3 – 5th
Grade 520m
ANTI DENTITE was best to begin. GUN LEGACY was slow to begin. Rounding the turn out of the front straight JIMMY BRUTE was tightened for racing room and lost ground. Entering the back straight TITAN ASH was checked and lost ground.
Race 4 – 5th
Grade 520m
Even start. RHYTHMIC CRUISER was tightened for racing room shortly after the start checked and lost ground. Approaching the turn out of the back straight FLASH HOUDINI was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. In the front straight TOP PROSECUTOR turned its head and made muzzle contact with ABBY’S MAGIC.TOP PROSECUTOR was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards advised trainer Mr. N Vohland that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 2nd offence, 3 months plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.
Race 5 – 5th
Grade 600m
Even start. Shortly after the start FROSTY JAY JAY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost some ground. Rounding the home turn MINNIE IMPACT contacted the heels of CRACKING CAZA and was momentarily hampered.
Mr. G Kadniak the trainer of SMASHNIAK GOLD explained that the greyhound missed the start IN tonight’s event and after receiving some minor interference in the race he was satisfied with the way it finished off its event. He stated that SMASHNIAK GOLD is best suited when it jumps and leads however, he has had some concerns that SMASHNIAK GOLD has been propping at the start. He further stated it will be his intention to work on the greyhound to improve its starting manners. The greyhound SMASHNIAK GOLD was vetted and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards noted his explanation.
The
greyhound FROSTY JAY JAY was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the
off side hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
Race 6 – 4th
Grade 520m
Even start. SERENE STAR and GENERAL CLOUD were slow to begin. Shortly after the start GO WILD SHAZ and MACNIVEK collided over some distance resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground. MACNIVEK was tightened for racing room approaching the turn out of the front straight and lost some ground. Rounding the turn out of the front straight KULU CHA CHING and HOPE’S MAGIC collided causing both greyhounds to be hampered. Entering the back straight KULU CHA CHING was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Rounding the turn out of the back straight GO WILD SHAZ was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.
The greyhound GO WILD SHAZ was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 7 – Brisbane Cup Final 520m
OLD SPICE was best to begin. CYDNIE’S MAGIC was slow out. Approaching the turn out of the front straight CHATSWORTHY, CERVELO, FLASH REALITY and SIMPATICO all raced tight resulting in each greyhound being checked to varying degrees. Shortly after CHATSWORTHY and CERVELO collided causing both greyhounds to be checked. CERVELO raced wide in the back straight. CHATSWORTHY gave ground in the back straight to finish a considerable distance from the remainder of the field. CHATSWORTHY was examined by the Club’s Veterinarian and found to have suffered an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 21 days.
Race 8 – Best 8 520m
Even start. FANTASTIC SID was slow to begin. Approaching the turn out of the front straight HOUGENIE was momentarily tightened for racing room and hampered. Leaving the back straight CASH IN MOTION was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Rounding the turn into the front straight CASH IN MOTION was again tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.
Race 9 – 5th Grade 520m
COAL CHEETAH and YOUR DEAL were best to begin. SHEZA KEEN SIZE stumbled shortly after the start and lost considerable ground. Approaching the turn out of the front straight SHYAN YAHOO was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Approaching the turn into the front straight WINTON BURN commenced to give ground badly and took no further competitive part in the race. SHYAN YAHOO and YOUR DEAL were both checked as a consequence.
The
greyhound WINTON BURN was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the
off side hock and was humanely euthanized.
Race 10 – 5th Grade 520m
SPRING BONANZA was best to begin. Approaching the turn out of the front straight SHANAE’S MAGIC was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Leaving the front straight OXLEY RUBEY contacted the heels of DAYSEAS RIGG causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground. DON’T DOUBLE UP raced wide rounding the turn into the back straight.
