TRIALS

Return to Racing 1 – 331m

The greyhound BOOK ‘EM performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.56.

 

Return to Racing Trial 2 – 331m

The greyhound YASI performed a satisfactory Return to Racing Trial 3 over the distance of 331m in a time of 19.99.  The greyhound was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near wide wrist webbing and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

RACE REPORTS

 

Stewards today conducted an inquiry into comments posted on social media by licenced persons Mr. Gareth Miggins. In particular comments that contributed to Gareth Miggins via Facebook account. 

Upon consideration of the evidence tendered stewards issued a charge against Mr. Miggins to which he pleaded guilty to under the provisions of GAR 86 (f) which states a person including an official shall be guilty of an offence if the person engages in, publishes or causes to be published, broadcast or causes to be broadcast, the use of any contemptuous, unseemly, improper, insulting, or offensive language, conduct or behaviour in any manner or form towards, or in relation to a steward. 

In assessing penalty stewards were mindful of the following factors, (a) Mr. Miggin’s guilty plea and remorse shown, (b) his previous record in regards to conduct matters and his own personal circumstances.  Stewards imposed a fine of $500.  Mr. Miggins was advised of his rights of appeal.

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the front straight ZALHANI and SINGLETON collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and be inconvenienced.  LITTLE MADAM which was trailing was hampered as a consequence.  Leaving the front straight SINGLETON and SMART MARLOW collided causing both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  ZALHANI raced wide in the back straight and again in the front straight.

MOCKA’S BABE and SO SABRINA were best to begin.  WINSMIT, COME TOGETHER, CALAMITY JANE and CHASE’S LEGEND were slow to begin.  Leaving the front straight PICKLED TINK was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  COME TOGETHER which was trailing made heavy contact with PICKLED TINK as a consequence.  Both greyhounds were severely checked.  CALAMITY JANE and CHASE’S LEGEND which were racing to the outside of COME TOGETHER were checked as a consequence.  In the run to the finish ISLA’S STYLE turned its head and marred the running of MOCKA’S BABE.

 

Stewards advised trainer Mr B Kline that the greyhound ISLA’S STYLE would be charged under Rule 69 Marring, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

SULZANTI @ STUD 0 – 3 WINS 600M

REFUND REQUIRED and OUT OF PUNCH were best to begin.  BEKLANA, ON THE CLOCK, AGUERO TEXADA and HOUDINI HI were slow to begin.  Rounding the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion HOUDINI HI improved onto the heels of ON THE CLOCK, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Leaving the back straight ON THE CLOCK was momentarily tightened for racing room and was hampered as a consequence.

 

The greyhound ON THE CLOCK underwent a postrace veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned regarding the performance of ON THE CLOCK Trainer Mr. D Russell stated that the greyhound races best when drawn in the inside boxes and after only beginning moderately today and receiving the 3 minor checks throughout the race he was not disappointed with the greyhound’s effort.  He stated that the greyhound has trained well during the week and was expecting a forward showing.  He further stated that he may consider racing ON THE CLOCK at Ipswich in the upcoming events.  Stewards noted his explanation.

GLEN GALLON @ STUD 5th GRADE 520M

Even start with the exception of ALPHA ARES.  Leaving the front straight HERE FOR YOU was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight HERE FOR YOU and SO KAWII collided, resulting in SO KAWII to be checked and lose ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight CALL ME AUSSIE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound SO KAWAII underwent a postrace veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. D McGrath that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 71 Unsatisfactory Performance and must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks prior to nominating.

Rounding the turn into the front straight KEROMA STORM checked across the heels of RATATAT and was momentarily hampered.  MPINGO which was trailing was hampered as a consequence.

 

The greyhound FLASH HOUDINI underwent a postrace veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

CEASER DE KAHN was best to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight HURRICANE CHANCE improved onto the heels of SUMMER’S PRANCER and was checked as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the front straight HURRICANE CHANCE improved onto the heels of FLAPPING GUMS and was checked as a consequence.

Even start.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight MR. CODY shifted out.  BROTHER GLENN which was racing to its outside was hampered as a consequence.

THIS TIME REBA was best to begin.  Shortly after the start EL CHAD was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after GEORGE GALLON and GREAT KNOCK THAT collided resulting in both greyhounds to be checked.

MAYWYN IF LUCKY and SUITE ALEXIS were best to begin.  MISS HUSSY and KURO LOU were slow out.  Approaching the turn into the back straight FAST AS and KURO LOU collided resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  CAN OF SPRITE which was racing to the inside of FAST AS was checked as a consequence.  ALPHA ACHILLES and MISS HUSSY which were trailing were severely checked as a consequence.

Even start with the exception of KINGSBRAE CHOOKY and MINNIE IMPACT which were both slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn MUD CAKE CLOUD was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  MINNIE’S HOPE and MINNIE IMPACT which were trailing were checked as a consequence.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight KINGSBRAE CHOOKY and NINE HUNDRED collided resulting in NINE HUNDRED to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight MUD CAKE CLOUD improved onto the heels of MINNIE’S HOPE and was hampered as a consequence.
