The greyhound HEALTH RETREAT underwent a postrace Veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned trainer’s representative Mr. J Dart in regards to the performance of that greyhound in tonight’s event Mr. Dart informed stewards that he has an opinion that HEALTH RETREAT is a greyhound of limited ability.  He stated that the time if ran tonight in 36.27 on a heavy track is equivalent to its best time when its raced.  He stated that the greyhound worked well leading up to the race however, his expectations at beat of what HEALTH RETREAT would run a place as he was of the view that TREBLIG LUCIA is the faster pair of greyhounds.  He further stated that HEALTH RETREAT had been racing in weaker class at Casino and Grafton where its form was consistent in winning and placing in those events.  Stewards noted Mr. Dart’s explanation.

He stated that all be it that the greyhound suffered interference rounding the 1st turn he was slightly disappointed with its overall performance but may have contributed it to the heavy track conditions.  When questioned regarding the betting activity on BetFair on GOOD YEAR Mr. D Currey stated that he did not relate any information to any person in regards to the greyhound’s expectations in tonight’s race and could not offer any explanation to any betting activity on the greyhound.  Stewards noted Mr. Currey’s explanation.

The greyhound CHEVY BLUE BOY underwent a postrace Veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned trainer Mr. K Donaldson in regards to the performance of the greyhound where it led and gave ground over the concluding stages.  Mr. Donaldson was of the view that the heavy track conditions may have taken a toll on the greyhound’ stamina over the concluding stages as it railed throughout the event where in his opinion the track was the heaviest.  He stated although CHEVY BLUE BOY had been racing over the shorter distances he was satisfied that the greyhound would be competitive over the 520m and it was his intention to continue racing the greyhound over that distance.  Stewards noted his explanation.
