The greyhound GRAND PRIX DRYVA underwent a 2nd post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned over the performance of GRAND PRIX DRYVA, trainer Mr. A Monaghan stated the greyhound was having its 1st run since winning at Albion Park on 26 January 2017 and had been withdrawn from its next engagement leading up to today’s race due to a left wrist injury.  Mr. Monaghan said that the greyhound was in his view stepping up in grade racing against more seasoned greyhounds where GRAND PRIX DRYVA has had only 4 race starts and was still learning to race truly.  He said that GRAND PRIX DRYVA is best suited to be drawn wider boxes as it is a greyhound that likes to race in the middle of the track and it was his view that it shifted out on the turn out of the front straight which contributed to it colliding with DOLLAR AND CENT which in his view contributed to where the greyhound had finished in its overall position.  He stated that the greyhound is a very excitable greyhound and had been concerned that it may over exerted itself in the kennelling prior to this race.  Mr. Monaghan further stated that he was not entirely satisfied with the greyhound’s overall condition and it would be his intention to send it for an immediate spell.  He stated that he did not support the greyhound in tonight’s event as its market value was well under what he expected at $2.10 fixed priced UBet odds.  Stewards noted Mr. Monaghan’s explanation.
