At the start HA HA CLASSY had its muzzle lodged within the lids of the starting boxes and when opening and lifting the greyhound upwards, had its start significantly affected.  As a result the muzzle of HA HA CLASSY become lodged within its mouth and raced erratically from the start and into the back straight.  During this action HA HA CLASSY bumped FLASH GEE and BANG ON TARGET resulting in those runners to be hampered.  Entering the turn out of the back straight WESTMEAD DAFFIE contacted the heels of WAR AT MIDNIGHT resulting in that runner to be momentarily hampered.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight FLASH GEE, HA HA CLASSY and BANG ON TARGET raced tight resulting in FLASH GEE and BANG ON TARGET to be checked and HA HA CLASSY to be severely checked and lose ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight BEST STRATEGY checked off heels.

The ‘all clear’ signal was delayed to afford the stewards the opportunity to review the footage with respect to the start of the event.  After reviewing the film, stewards elected to declare HA HA CLASSY as a Non Starter under the provisions of GAR 56(2)(b) whereby it had its chances in the race materially prejudiced when its racing muzzle was caught within the lids of the starting boxes and when opening had its start significantly affected.
