Race Reports

 

Race 1 – ASPLEY LEAGUES CLUB MAIDEN HEAT 1 – 395M

 

ONE EL was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, LAURASH ACTION was tightened for room and hampered.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, LAURASH ACTION and OUTBAK MANDRAKE were tightened for room, severely checked and lost considerable ground.  ONE EL also lost ground as a result of this incident.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight BARRY BICEPS was contacted by another runner and checked.  Rounding the turn into the front straight, BARRY BICEPS checked off heels. 

 

Race 2 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 395M

 

REBEL’S FORCE and CYNDIE SAID were hampered shortly after the start.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, WESTMEAD COMET was tightened for room and checked.  REBEL’S FORCE and NANGAR BREEZE, which were trailing, were checked as a consequence.  At the same time, HARA’S HUSTLE checked off heels.  DARBY’S GIRL raced wide for the majority of the event. 

 

Race 3 – THE MANLY HOTEL MAIDEN HEAT 3 – 395M

 

I’M HERE and SWEET KAOS collided shortly after the start resulting in both runners to be severely checked.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, BILLY WHO was tightened for room, shifted outwards and collided with SUMMER’S PICK, resulting in both greyhounds to lose ground.  Shortly after, CELTIC DRAGON contacted the heels of another runner and was severely checked.  In the back straight, I’M HERE and SWEET KAOS bumped on a number of occasions and were hampered as a consequence.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, I’M HERE improved onto the heels of SUMMER’S PICK, resulting in both runners to be checked. 

 

When questioned on the performance of NAPPER RUN RUN, trainer Ms N Ogden stated that while happy with the greyhound’s performance over the earlier and middle stages, she was disappointed with the greyhound’s run towards the finish.  She further stated that it was her intention to nominate the greyhound over a shorter distance in light of today’s performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

 

Race 4 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND NOVICE (1) – 395M

 

Entering the first turn, FLYING COMET and BIG BIRD were tightened for room and severely checked.  MISS BECKBOO and FARMOR RUSH, which were racing to those runners’ outside, were also checked as a result of this incident.  Entering the back straight, MISTER MORK checked off heels.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, FLYING COMET was tightened for room and was hampered.  Shortly after, MISTER MORK contacted the heels of another runner and was momentarily hampered.  Approaching the turn into the home straight, FARMOR RUSH improved onto the heels of BIG BIRD, resulting in both runners to be hampered.  Shortly after, FLYING COMET collided with BIG BIRD, resulting in both runners to be hampered. 

 

Race 5 – EXPAT LODGE BOARDING KENNELS NOVICE (2) – 395M

 

Through the first turn, EL DOUBLE ONE and FAKE NEWS were tightened for room and checked.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, EL ROMANO shifted out to avoid the heels of another runner, taking FABIO MARSHA wider on the turn as a consequence.  Through the turn into the home straight, FARMOR HEAT shifted inwards and collided with OBLIVINATOR, resulting in both runners to be momentarily hampered.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, FAKE NEWS collided with FABIO MARSHA on several occasions, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and lose ground. 

 

Race 6 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 – 395M

 

SULTAN OF RUM and ROSEALIE WHO were marginally slow to begin.  Through the first turn, BARBIE DOLL, TOOK A SELFIE and ROSEALIE WHO were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees.  Entering the back straight, BARBIE DOLL checked off heels.  Approaching the turn into the home straight, BARBIE DOLL checked outwards across heels and lost ground.  ELLINGTON, which was trailing, was momentarily hampered.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, TRAV SAID was bumped by another runner and checked. 

 

Race 7 – WITHCOTT HOTEL 5TH GRADE HEAT 2 – 395M

 

Through the first turn, WESTERN COMET was tightened for room and checked.  Entering the back straight, OKA’S ANGEL was tightened for room and checked.  Approaching the turn into the home straight, NO CLYDE NEEDED bumped NANNY WHO, resulting in that runner to be checked and lose ground.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, COPY WORKSHOP became momentarily unbalanced when shifting inwards to avoid the heels of NANNY WHO.

 

Race 8 – GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND MIXED 4/5TH GRADE – 331M

 

REGAL LEN was slow to begin. Approaching the turn out of the back straight RACHEL TERROR, REGAL LEN, MASTER DEAN and DAY TIME FRIEND were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees. Through the turn into the home straight REGAL LEN checked off heels.

 

Race 9 – FABERGAS @ STUD 5TH GRADE – 520M

 

HAY ROSALIE and ALPHA ULYSSES were slow to begin. Rounding the turn into the back straight NIVEK RETSEROFF checked off heels. Through the turn into the home straight IZY GOLD checked outwards across heels.

 

Stewards’ questioned trainer Mr N Evans with regards to the improved performance of FEMME FOLLE in tonight’s event.  Mr Evans stated that the greyhound had trialled well in the lead up to tonight’s event and expected a forward showing.  He further stated that the greyhound is a front runner and requires the lead to place well in its events.  Stewards’ noted his explanation. 

 

Race 10 – UBET TAPPY BEST 8 – 395M

 

Through the first turn all runners, with the exception of SANTA CLAWS, were tightened for room and checked to varying degrees. Entering the back straight ROYAL PRIZE checked off heels. COSMO BILL and PLUM JAM which were trailing were checked as a consequence. Approaching the turn out of the back straight BARRA TRIP was tightened for room and checked. Through the turn into the home straight PLUM JAM collided with ROYAL PRIZE resulting in both runners to be checked. BARRA TRIP, which was trailing, was hampered as a consequence.

 

Race 11 - TWITTER @ BRISGREYS 4TH GRADE – 395M

 

Through the first turn PEBBLE BAY and WESTERN HONEY were tightened for room and severely checked. Rounding the turn out of the back straight RUN KAY RUN was tightened for room and hampered.
