General

 

Due to a traffic incident northbound on the Pacific Motorway, kennelling start time was delayed to 5:15pm. Subsequently all races went back one (1) time slot with race eleven (11) being reprogrammed to 10:20pm.

 

Race Reports

 

Race 1 – SKY RACING | NOVICE | 520M

 

ELLIE GRACE and ALPHA STYX bumped at the start. Shortly after the start FRAN’S BONUS was tightened for room and hampered. On entering the first turn all runners with the exception of ZIP ZIP RUMBLE, FRAN’S BONUS and ELLIE GRACE collided and were checked to varying degrees. On entering the back straight ELLIE GRACE was tightened for room and hampered. Through the turn into the front straight CASH TRAIL checked out across heels. On entering the front straight EMULATING CHLOE shifted out abruptly. Shortly after EMULATING CHLOE and CASH TRAIL collided.

 

Race 2 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND | M5 | 520M

 

Shortly after the start WAZZA QUEEN was tightened for room and checked. Approaching the first turn both FIRST FIRE and BIG PRINCE were tightened for room and checked. On entering the first turn LOBCHA checked out across heels. SORRENTO collided with the running rail, shifted out and bumped FIRST FIRE. Through the turn into the front straight LOBCHA checked out across heels.

 

SORRENTO underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 3 – PEARSON AUTOMOTIVE XMAS PARTY | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

SURGENIE began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the first turn HARA’S FLAME was tightened for room and hampered. Shortly after RASHEEDA shifted in and tightened the running of IZZY MAGIC. WARRUMBUNGLE GEM and KATIE WHO collided. AVA SURPRISE, RASHEEDA and IZZY MAGIC all collided. HAZE PURPLE checked out across heels. On entering the back straight WARRUMBUNGLE GEM and KATIE WHO bumped. Out of the back straight, AVA SURPRISE and IZZY MAGIC were tightened for room and hampered. WARRUMBUNGLE GEM and KATIE WHO collided, KATIE WHO was checked. Through the turn into the front straight IZZY MAGIC and AVA SURPRISE improved onto heels and were hampered. On entering the front straight AVA SURPRISE checked out across heels and bumped HAZE PURPLE, which in turn bumped SURGENIE.

 

Race 4 – THE DOZER NATION CUP | MIXED 4/5 | 600M

 

PRATER’S ACE was best to begin. BIG BAD BOB and DONNY’S BEACH bumped. On entering the front straight FINAL CHALICE and PRATER’S ACE collided. MAURICE MINOR was tightened for room and hampered. In the front straight DONNY’S BEACH and BIG BAD BOB collided. Through the turn into the back straight PRATER’S ACE, RUN WITH FAITH and BIG BAD BOB all collided and were checked. Out of the back straight into the turn PRATER’S ACE and BIG BAD BOB bumped. RUN WITH FAITH was tightened for room and checked. On entering the front straight DONNY’S BEACH and RUN WITH FAITH collided.

 

PRATER’S ACE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to its off wrist. The greyhound was subsequently stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 5 – GET A SERVICE @PEARSON AUTOMOTIVE | MIXED4/5 | 520M

 

HAY BILLY began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start INFRARED STAR, SOFT SAND and LOGAN CITY were all tightened for room and hampered. Approaching the first turn INFRARED STAR contacted the heels of SMART MARLOW and was checked. LOGAN CITY which was trailing was checked. HAY BILLY improved onto heels, shifted out and collided with SOFT SAND which, bumped MR BELVEDERE. Out of the back straight into the turn INFRARED STAR and MONEY FOR JAM collided. LOGAN CITY improved onto heels and was hampered. On entering the front straight MONEY FOR JAM checked out across heels. LOGAN CITY and SMART MARLOW bumped.

 

Race 6 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD | MIXED 3/4 | 520M

 

CODRINGTON KID and REGAL TOPAZ were best to begin. CAN’T POSSIBLY began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start LOCH FREDDIE checked out across heels. On entering the first turn SLINGSHOT HAMMER checked out across heels forcing COMANECI out wider. Through the turn into the back straight all runners with the exception of CODRINGTON KID, REGAL TOPAZ and SLINGSHOT HAMMER collided and were checked to varying degrees.

 

Race 7 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY | BEST 8 | 520M

 

FAB FIT began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after FAB FIT was tightened for room and checked. Approaching the first turn DEL REY and FABRIQUE were tightened for room and checked. Shortly after FAST TIMES was tightened for room and checked. ARDEN STREET, FABRIQUE and DEL REY were all trailing and checked. FAB FIT was forced out wider on the track. Through the turn into the back straight FAST TIMES, ARDEN STREET and FABRIQUE all collided and were checked. In the back straight WISE MISTY contacted the heels of IT’S DYLLAN which was hampered. On entering the front straight FABRIQUE checked out across heels. Shortly after FAST TIMES collided with DEL REY and checked out across that runner’s heels. In the front straight FABRIQUE checked in across heels.

 

FAB FIT underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Race 8 – SKY RACING BRISBANE CUP BNE 520 (G1) FINAL | OPEN | 520M

 

HASTEN SLOWLY was best to begin. SILVER STUNNER was tightened for room and hampered. On entering the first turn COSMIC BONUS and HASTEN SLOWLY bumped. Through the turn into the back straight MISS SPLENDAMIRO checked out across heels. On entering the back straight DYNA CHANCER was tightened for room and checked. NOT AVAILABLE and SILVER STUNNER which were to the inside, were hampered. In the back straight MISS SPLENDAMIRO checked in across heels. On entering the front straight NOT AVAILABLE was tightened for room, checked and collided with BRANDI ALEXANDER.

 

Race 9 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

The start was delayed by approximately five (5) minutes to allow for minor track maintenance.

 

The all clear was delayed due to a bird being present on the track during the event. Stewards subsequently viewed the patrol footage and established that no greyhound was materially prejudiced during the event and the all clear was given.  

 

YOREMMUP was best to begin. Shortly after the start KULU HIPSTER was tightened for room and checked. In the front straight STROGANOFF was tightened for room, checked and then collided with KULU HIPSTER. STROGANOFF checked out across heels. Approaching the first turn YOREMMUP was tightened for room and hampered.

 

Race 10 – FABREGAS @ METICULUS LODGE | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

TOP VILLA was tightened for room and checked at the start. Approaching the first turn DAZE LIKE THESE was tightened for room and hampered. DAZE LIKE THESE contacted the heels of HAY HOPEY. TOP VILLA checked out across heels. Through the turn into the back straight STEEL A KISS was tightened for room and checked. On entering the front straight HAY HOPEY checked out across heels and collided with ALPHA THEMIS.

 

Race 11 – CAPALABA ON SKY RACING DECEMBER 9 | M5 | 520M

 

Shortly after the start SPRING FORTE and BRIGHT SATELLITE were tightened for room and checked. Approaching the first turn PENDITA and BIG TURLS were both tightened for room and hampered. Through the turn into the back straight AZA ZEUS and BIG TURLS collided. PENDITA which was trailing, was checked. In the back straight BIG TURLS collided with PENDITA. Out of the back straight into the turn, PENDITA, BRIGHT SATELLITE and BIG TURLS all collided. In the front straight NASH BONUS and SPRING FORTE bumped. Over the concluding stages of the event PENDITA contacted the heels of NASH BONUS.
