Race Reports

 

Race 1 – TAB | NOVICE | 520M

 

OUR SASSY GYPSY was slow to begin. VELOCITY MALINKA began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the first turn, CLASSY ARIA collided with WAZZA SAID and was checked. Shortly after, WAZZA SAID shifted out and collided with and ANJALIE. Out of the back straight into the turn, ISN’T SHE SPECIAL improved onto heels and was hampered. VELOCITY MALINKA and CLASSY ARIA collided and were both checked. Through the turn into the front straight, OUR SASSY GYPSY improved onto heels and was hampered. On entering the front straight, CLASSY ARIA shifted out and collided with VELOCITY MALINKA and was checked.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of OUR SASSY GYPSY failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer E. Kleinhans advised stewards that he was disappointed with the greyhound’s lack of early speed and would consider starting the greyhound at Capalaba.

 

Race 2 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND | NOVICE | 520M

 

WHO WHAT WHERE was best to begin. Shortly after the start, RAY’S REWARD was tightened for room and hampered. IMA TALKER and ALPHA STYX collided at the start. In the front straight, WHO WHAT WHERE sustained an injury and took no further competitive part in the event. Approaching the first turn, all runners, with the exception of WILDASH JAKEY and WHO WHAT WHERE collided and were checked to varying degrees. Through the turn into the back straight, ALPHA STYX, IMA TALKER, LENRAY BONUS and RAY’S REWARD all collided. Through the turn into the front straight, RAY’S REWARD and IMA TALKER collided and were checked.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of WHO WHAT WHERE revealed the greyhound to have sustained an injury to the back muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 28 days.

 

Race 3 – SKY RACING | M5 | 520M

 

ADHARA STEEL was best to begin. Shortly after the start, CORONARY CLOUD was tightened for room and checked. On entering the first turn, POLLY’S MAID shifted in and bumped SMART MARLOW, which was hampered. Through the turn into the back straight, SMART MARLOW checked out across heels and collided with POLLY’S MAID, which was checked. In the back straight, TWIN GALAXY checked out across heels.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of CORONARY CLOUD revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the near hip and was subsequently stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 4 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

CLICK COWAN began awkwardly and lost ground. KULU COOPER began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, KULU COOPER, AVA SURPRISE and FRAN’S BONUS all collided. Approaching the first turn, ELUSIVE STAR and KULU COOPER collided and were checked. Shortly after, ELUSIVE STAR checked out across heels and bumped CLICK COWAN. FELICI BEACH and DOLCETTO HAYZE collided. FRAN’S BONUS checked out across heels and raced wide through the turn into the back straight.

 

A post-race veterinary examination of KULU COOPER revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the off pin and was subsequently stood down for a period 10 days.

 

Race 5 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD | MIX 3/4 | 520M

 

Shortly after the start, ARABIAN GO GO and MAN OF LEISURE were tightened for room and hampered. Approaching the first turn, AIR TIME, STEAL A KISS and AND YOU ARE were tightened for room and hampered. AIR TIME checked out across heels and bumped MAN OF LEISURE. ARABIAN GO GO was tightened for room, bumped the running rail and was checked. On entering the first turn, INFRARED STAR and AMBER MARIE collided. Out of the turn into the back straight, INFRARED STAR was tightened for room and hampered. Out of the back straight into the turn, AIR TIME, STEAL A KISS and MAN OF LEISURE all bumped. Through the turn into the front straight, ARABIAN GO GO collided with MAN OF LEISURE. AND YOU ARE raced wide through the turn into the front straight. Over the concluding stages of the event, MAN OF LEISURE and INFRARED STAR bumped. 

 

A post-race veterinary examination of ARABIAN GO GO failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

Race 6 – RQ YOUNG GUNS BNE 520 FINAL | OPEN | 520M

 

Common ground was best to begin. OXLEY ONE was slow to begin. WILDASH JAZZY was severely checked at the start and lost ground. RASHEDA checked out across heels. Approaching the first turn, WILDASH JAZZY was tightened for room and checked. Shortly after, FERNANDO BLASTER and PAINTED PICTURE bumped. Out of the back straight into the turn, WILDASH JAZZY and RASHEDA collided and were checked. Through the turn into the front straight IRISH RIPPLE collided with PAINTED PICTURE. On entering the front straight, REGAL TOPAZ shifted out and collided with IRISH RIPPLE. Over the concluding stages of the event, WILDASH JAZZY, IRISH RIPPLE and REGAL TOPAZ all collided.  

 

Race 7 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY | MIXED 1/2 | 520M

 

WISE Misty was best to begin. ARDEN STREET began awkwardly and was slow to begin. On entering the first turn, FEMME FOLLE checked out across heels and collided with KULU JASPER.

 

Race 8 – CLEM JONES CUP BNE 600 FINAL | OPEN | 600M

 

INFRARED LAD was slow to begin. LOCH FREDDIE and MAGIC HORNET were best to begin. Shortly after the start, FIRST FIRE was tightened for room and hampered. BIG BAD BOB and GELANTIPY GOLD collided. On entering the front straight, INFRARED LAD checked out across heels and bumped BIG BAD BOB. Through the turn into the back straight, FIRST FIRE and SHOES TO FILL collided. On entering the back straight, INFRARED LAD was tightened for room and checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, MAGIC HORNET was tightened for room and checked. Through the turn into the front straight, INFRARED LAD contacted the heels of SHOES TO FILL. On entering the front straight, GELANTIPY GOLD and LOCH FREDDIE bumped.  

 

Race 9 – MARBURG HOTEL | MA5 | 520M

 

CALYPSO BAY and BELVEDERE BABE collided at the start. SON OF BETTY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, BIG TURLS was tightened for room and hampered. Approaching the first turn, EMPIRE REIGN was tightened for room and checked. MIDNIGHT DASHER checked out across heels. DEEJAY FRANKIE and SON OF BETTY collided. Through the turn into the back straight, EMPIRE REIGN and BIG TURLS were tightened for room and checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, MIDNIGHT DASHER was tightened for room and checked. EMPIRE REIGN and BIG TURLS collided. Through the turn into front straight, FERVALE RUBY and DEEJAY FRANKIE collided. BIG TURLS was tightened for room and checked. 

 

Race 10 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM | MIXED 4/5 | 520M

 

CAN’T POSSIBLY was best to begin. BAD NEIGHBOUR was tightened for room and hampered at the start. Approaching the first turn, BAD NEIGHBOUR was tightened for room and checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, MYONA MORPHEUS was tightened for room and hampered. PETA GLEDHILL was tightened for room and hampered.

 

Race 11 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

Shortly after the start, DUSTY DELIGHT shifted in and collided with SHE’S SOME GAL and EMPIRE STATE. Shortly after, EMPIRE STATE and SHE’S SOME GAL were both tightened for room and hampered. On entering the first turn, EMPIRE STATE checked out across heels and collided with RULE THE ROAD, which was checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, DUSTY DELIGHT checked out across heels.

 

Race 12 – TWITTER @BRISGREYS | GRADE 5 | 520M

 

SMALL JEWEL was best to begin. Shortly after the start, NILLY NELLY checked out across heels. WILD ROCK HAYZE and KULU OZZIE bumped. Approaching the first turn, WEEONA JIMMY contacted the heels of OFF THE DECK and was checked. EXPONENTIAL was tightened for room and checked. NILLY NELLY and WILD ROCK HAYZE shifted out wider on the track. Out of the back straight into the turn, OFF THE DECK and SMALL JEWEL collided. On entering the front straight, SMALL JEWEL, KULU OZZIE and OFF THE DECK all collided.

 

Following the completion of the event, WILD ROCK HAYZE fell in the catching pen and was pronounced deceased by the veterinary surgeon on examination. Samples were collected and the greyhound will be sent to the University of Queensland (Gatton Campus) for autopsy.
