Race Reports

Race 1 – SKY RACING | NOVICE | 520M

FAB TO FLY began awkwardly. PATRICK GEORGE and MIDNIGHT LIAISON collided at the start. MY GIRL YESSAM was tightened for room and checked. Through the turn into the back straight, ALPHA STYX checked out across heels. FAB TO FLY collided with ISNT SHE SPECIAL and was severely checked. PATRICK GEORGE improved onto heels and was hampered.

A post-race veterinary of PATRICK GEORGE revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the off hind calf muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 10 days.

Race 2 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND | MA5 | 520M

EBONNIE and BELVEDERE bumped at the start. ALPHA CHAOS and MYONA MORPHEUS bumped. On entering the first turn, AND YOU ARE checked out across heels and bumped MYONA MORPHEUS. On entering the back straight, EBONNIE was tightened for room and hampered. Through the turn into the front straight, EBONNIE checked out across heels. Out of the turn into the front straight, BELVEDERE BABE shifted out and collided with SONIC THUNDER. Over the concluding stages of the event, BELVEDERE BABE and CYN’S MAGIC collided.

Race 3 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD | GRADE 5 | 520M

KATIE GELZINNIS was slow to begin. Shortly after the start ELUSIVE ARROW, LOGAN’S RUN and SPIRIT RIVER all bumped. LOGAN’S RUN lost ground. Approaching the first turn, SPIRIT RIVER collided with AVA SURPRISE and checked out across heels. ELUSIVE ARROW, EMULATING CHLOE, NIVEK RETSERROF and WILDASH JAZZY all collided and were checked to varying degrees. Shortly after, KATIE GELZINNI and EMULATING CHLOE collided. LOGAN’S RUN and SPIRIT RIVER collided. Out of the turn into the back straight, ELUSIVE ARROW was tightened for room and hampered. Out of the back straight into the turn, EMULATING CHLOE was tightened for room and hampered. SPIRIT RIVER improved onto EMULATING CHLOE’S heels, checked out and lost ground. In the front straight, ELUSIVE ARROW failed to pursue the lure with due commitment, shifted out and bumped AVAS SURPRISE on a number of occasions.

A post-race veterinary examination of ELUSIVE ARROW revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the near side wrist. The greyhound was subsequently stood down from racing at Albion Park for a period of 10 days under GAR 69B (1)(a), failing to pursue with injury and until the completion of a satisfactory stewards trial.

Race 4 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY | GRADE 5 | 520M

Shortly after the start BIG TURLS and KULU BAZZA were tightened for room and checked. On entering the first turn, REGAL JADE, ROCKFORD and VISION OF LOVE all collided, ROCKFORD and VISION OF LOVE were checked. Through the turn into the back straight, ROCKFORD was tightened for room and checked out across heels.

Race 5 – MARBURG HOTEL | GRADE 4 | 520M

ADHARA STEEL was best to begin. VISIGOTH was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, PYRO BOB and CARIBBEAN RED bumped. Approaching the first turn, PYRO BOB was tightened for room and checked. Through the turn into the back straight, both ALPHA THEMIS and VISIGOTH were tightened for room and checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, PYRO BOB checked in across heels.

Race 6 – TAB | MIXED 3/4 | 520M

The start was delayed momentarily when S. Lawrence, trainer of ARDEN STREET, attempted to box the greyhound into the incorrect box. Stewards advised S. Lawrence of the error and ARDEN STREET was correctly loaded into box 3. Following the event, S. Lawrence was reminded of her obligation to box greyhounds in accordance with the box draw when handling.   

FIRST FIRE was slow to begin. SHE’S SOME GAL was best to begin. On entering the first turn, all runners collided and were checked to varying degrees with the exception of SHE’S SOME GAL and LOCH FREDDIE. Through the turn into the back straight, CAN’T POSSIBLY, MAGIC HORNET and ARABIAN GO GO all collided, MAGIC HORNET was checked. Shortly after, FIRST FIRE collided with MAGIC HORNET, both runners were checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, CAN’T POSSIBLY was tightened for room and checked out across heels forcing ARDEN STREET wider on the track.

Race 7 – QLD SHORT COURSE FREE FOR ALL FINAL | OPEN | 331M

CALL ME UGO and WAZZA WHO were best to begin. Shortly after the start, FARMOR HEAT checked out across heels and collided with CALL ME UGO, which was severely checked. IMA NECROMANCER, which was trailing, was checked. Out of the back straight into the turn, GO LASSIE GO was tightened for room and checked. JET BLACK STAR bumped FARMOR HEAT and was checked. Out of the turn into the front straight, GO LASSIE GO and JET BLACK STAR collided.

A post-race veterinary examination of GO LASSIE GO revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the chest muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 7 days.

Race 8 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM | MIXED 1/2 | 520M

WISE MISTY and IT’S DYLLAN were best to begin. Shortly after the start, DEL REY contacted the heels of IT’S DYLLAN, which was checked. On entering the first turn, AMBER MARIE and FABRIQUE collided, AMBER MARIE was checked. Through the turn into the back straight, DEL REY, AMBER MARIE and FABRIQUE all collided. SLICK bumped AMBER MARIE. Out of the turn into the back straight, FABRIQUE and GELANTIPY GOLD collided and were checked.

Race 9 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE | GRADE 5 | 600M

BIG BAD BOB was slow to begin. Out of the turn into the front straight, RULE THE ROAD checked out across heels and bumped BIG BAD BOB. Out of the front straight into the turn, BETTA BE BUNDY collided with BIG BAD BOB and checked out across heels. Through the turn into the back straight, RULE THE ROAD checked out across heels.

Race 10 – ZILLMERE SPORTS | GRADE 5 | 520M

Shortly after the start SMALL JEWEL, TORAH SPRITE and SPOOKY SENSATION were all tightened for room and checked. On entering the first turn, ABSOLUTELY FAB was tightened for room and checked. TORAH SPRITE and SPOOKY SENSATION, which were trailing, collided with ABSOLUTELY FAB and were checked. Through the turn into the back straight, OFF THE DECK and SMALL JEWEL collided. ABSOLUTELY FAB improved onto heels and was hampered. Through the turn into the front straight, OFF THE DECK collided with SMALL JEWEL, both runners were checked. ABSOLUTELY FAB contacted the heels of TORAH SPRITE, nearly fell and lost substantial ground. SPOOKY SENSATION, which was trailing, was hampered as a result. In the front straight, OFF THE DECK turned its head inwards and made muzzle contact with SMALL JEWEL on two occasions. Trainer J. Catton was advised the greyhound would be suspended from racing under GAR69 (2)(a) for 28 days at Albion Park and until the completion of a satisfactory stewards trial. 

A post-race veterinary examination of ABSOLUTELY FAB revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the back muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 7 days.

A post-race veterinary examination of SMALL JEWELL failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 11 – TWITTER @ BRISGREYS | MA5 | 520M

Shortly after the start, MASTER DEAN was tightened for room and hampered. SPRING FORTE bumped REGAL CYNDIE. Out of the back straight into the turn, TWIN GALAXY was tightened for room and severely checked. STANKY LEG collided with TWIN GALAXY and was checked. Out of the turn into the front straight, SPRING FORTE shifted out and make muzzle contact with MUTANT. Trainer C. Graham was advised the greyhound would be suspended from racing under GAR69 (2)(a) for 28 days at Albion Park and until the completion of a satisfactory stewards trial.  

A post-race veterinary examination of MASTER DEAN revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the back muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 10 days.

A post-race veterinary examination of TWIN GALAXY revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the back muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 28 days.
