GENERAL:
Hay Hopey was declared a late scratching at 5:07PM when found to be injured by the officiating veterinary surgeon.
No Easy Beat was declared a late scratching at 5:33PM when trainer R. Dillon failed to present the correct greyhound. Trainer R. Dillon mistakenly presented Easy Al, which was not competing tonight. Mr. Dillon was fined $200 and No Easy Beat was subsequently stood down from competing for a period of 10 days.
The Integrity Investigations Team reported to stewards at the completion of kennelling that three syringes had been found in licensed trainer B. Allan’s vehicle used to transport Bear Zar, Morris The Great and Welge to compete in Race 3. Mr. Allan was the kennel representative for trainer K. Butler. After inspecting the syringes, it was established that all three items were drawn and a substance was present in each. Mr. Allan explained he had intended to administer the substance orally to each greyhound after competing in Race 3 as a recovery. Mr. Allan advised stewards that the substance was a muscle recovery treatment, namely Nutridex. After considering Mr. Allan’s submissions, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the substance was administered to any of the three greyhounds in question. However, Stewards seized all three syringes for screening purposes and samples were collected from all three greyhounds. Mr. Allan was subsequently charged under GAR84B, which reads: No person, unless he or she has obtained the permission of the Stewards, shall have in his or her possession, either on a racecourse or in any motor vehicle or trailer being used for the purpose of travelling to or from a racecourse, any prohibited substance or a syringe, needle or other instrument which could be used to administer a prohibited substance to a greyhound.
The specifics of the charge being that, on Thursday, 4th July 2019, Mr. Allan had three syringes in his possession, in a vehicle at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club, which could be used to administer a prohibited substance to a greyhound. Stewards formally found Mr. Allan guilty of the charge and issued a monetary penalty of $1,000, of which $500 was suspended for a period of 12 months pending no further breaches of a similar rule. Mr. Allan was advised of his right to an internal review.
