Supplementary Report: From 19/01/2020: Stewards received a report from the Racing Queensland Graders regarding the eligibility of Ramblin’ Rose, which competed in Race 12 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club on Sunday, 19 January 2020 and subsequently placed first. Stewards were advised that on 12 January 2020, Ramblin’ Rose won a masters race at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club with a winning time of 19.33. The time standard for the Albion Park 331m is 19.43. As per the Racing Queensland Grading Policy, the grade of Ramblin’ Rose should have been manually adjusted to Grade 4 by the Racing Queensland grading team, making it ineligible for a Grade 5 Masters event.
Following the report, Stewards contacted Mr Douglas Gladman, trainer of Ramblin’ Rose and advised that the greyhound was ineligible to compete in Race 12 on 19 January 2020 at the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club in the Grade 5 Masters event. Acting under GAR 64(1), Stewards subsequently disqualified Ramblin’ Rose from the event with the amended placings:
1st - Fire To Rain 2nd - Valkyrie Blue 3rd - After Glow 4th - Peroni Beach
Race 1 - TAB GOLDEN GREYS SUMMER CARNIVAL NOVICE 520m 1 Misty Haze – collided with another runner in the early stages. Tightened for room and checked over the concluding stages. 2 Javens – tightened for room and checked approaching the first turn. 3 Hara's Olaf – collided with another runner in the early stages. Tightened for room and checked approaching the first turn. Checked off heels on entering the back straight. 6 Awesome Dancer – collided with another runner at the first turn. 7 Velocity Summit – began awkwardly. Collided with another runner at the first turn.
Race 2 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY GRADE 5 600m 1 Big Nose Johnny – quick to begin. 3 Royal Reward – eased over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the greyhound did not reveal any abnormalities. Mr Justin Bowe, owner of Royal Reward, was advised that the greyhound would be suspended from racing at Albion Park for a period of 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory trial, Failing To Pursue – 1st Offence. 4 Elusive Star – tightened for room and hampered through the first turn. 6 Junior Jet – tightened for room and checked leaving the back straight.
Race 3 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND MA5 (1) 520m 2 And You Are – quick to begin. Collided with another runner in the catching pen and sustained an injury to the right flank and was stood down for a period of 14 days. 5 Paua To Launch – slow to begin. Sustained an injury at the first turn and took no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound had sustained an injury to the near hind calf muscle and was subsequently stood down for a period of 14 days. Trainer Gary Mackay advised stewards that the greyhound would now be retired.
Race 4 – TAB QUEENSLAND SHORT
COURSE FINAL OPEN 331m 3 Cosmo Bill – tightened for room and hampered shortly after the start. Checked out across heels through the turn into the front straight. 4 Wazza Who – quick to begin. 5 Let's Go Ozzi – tightened for room and hampered shortly after the start. You 6 Super Cute - tightened for room and hampered at the start. Improved onto heels and was hampered leaving the back straight. 7 Hazy Whisper – contacted the heels of another runner leaving the back straight and was checked.
Race 5 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD MIXED 4/5 520m 1 Smooth Act – began awkwardly and lost ground. Collided with another runner through the turn into the front straight. 2 Deep Impact – bumped another runner at the start. Improved onto heels, checked out and collided with another runner. 3 Cheap Wine – bumped another runner at the start. Tightened for room and hampered at the first turn. 6 Crazy Bella - tightened for room and checked leaving the back straight.
Race 6 – AUSTRALIA DAY TROPHY FINAL OPEN 520m 2 Zenyatta Miss – checked out across heels on entering the front straight. 3 Cash Point – tightened for room, checked out across heels and collided with another runner at the first turn. 4 Copy Workshop – collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked. Collided with another runner at the first turn and was checked. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. 6 Stinger Noir – collided with another runner shortly after the start.
Race 7 – RACING QUEENSLAND COUNTRY CUP FINAL OPEN 520m 1 Bush Soldier – checked out across heels and collided with another runner at the first turn. 2 Naturally Gifted – had its heels contacted by another runner at the first turn. 3 Are Jay Lochie – checked out across heels at the first turn. 4 Rumble Master – slow to begin. 5 Tuta Sherry – tightened for room and checked shortly after the start. 6 Waltzing Danube – had its heels contacted by another runner at the first turn. 7 Elegant Eleanor – quick to begin. 8 Murphy Rumble – collided with another runner at the first turn. Improved onto heels and was hampered leaving the back straight.
Race 8 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY GOLDEN SANDS (G3) FINAL OPEN 600m During the running of the event, Stewards alerted the lure driver to complete the event as a follow on lure race, due to Red Rock pulling up in the back straight.
1 Lucky Hero – checked out across heels on entering the front straight (1st occasion). 2 Defy – quick to begin. 4 It's A Trick – improved onto heels and was hampered shortly after the start. 5 Scanlon – improved onto heels leaving the front straight. Checked out across heels shortly after. 6 Bago Bye Bye – collided with another runner through the turn into the back straight. 7 Fran's Bonus – collided with another runner through the turn into the back straight. 8 Red Rock – sustained an injury through the first turn and ceased chasing the lure in the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination reveal the greyhound had sustained an injury to the off hock and was stood down for a period of 8 weeks.
Race 9 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE MA5 (2) 520m 2 Brother Desy – collided with another runner at the first turn and was checked. Checked out across heels through the first turn. 3 Burrum Boy – checked out across heels at the first turn. 5 Faringdon – had its heels contacted at the first turn and was checked. 6 Hot Ember – collided with another runner at the first turn, was checked and raced wide. 7 Bitter Delight – collided with another runner at the first turn, was checked and raced wide.
Race 10 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND GRADE 5 (1) 520m 2 Isnt She Special – tightened for room and checked at the first turn. 3 Oblivinator – fell after the winning post. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. 5 Magic Dancer – collided with another runner and was checked at the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. 8 Alby Valley – slow to begin. Collided with another runner and was checked at the first turn.
Race 11 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY GRADE 5 (2) 520m 2 Over Time – shifted out and collided with another runner at the first turn. Had its heels contacted by another runner in the back straight. Checked out across heels through the final turn. 3 Oscar Awards – collided with another runner at the first turn. Collided with another runner in the back straight and was checked. 5 Twig Buzz – collided with another runner in the back straight and was checked. Collided with another runner in the back straight and was checked. 6 Townson Beach – collided with another runner at the first turn. 7 It Ain't Wazza – slow to begin. Contacted anther runner’s heels in the back straight and was checked.
