Other Comments / Explanations: “Due to Government advice around COVID-19, in accordance with GAR 51(10), the Stewards directed the Starter to box the greyhounds into the starting boxes in the following order, 1 & 5, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8 for all races”
On 12th April 2020 Queensland Racing Integrity Senior Steward Mr D.Broxham conducted an inquiry into an incident that occurred in the kennelling area of Albion Park racetrack on the night of the 6th April 2020. Submissions were made by BGRC staff Mr M Thorneycroft and Mr B Taylor, stewards also heard submissions from licenced attendant Miss C Yeomans. After considering all available evidence, a charge was issued under GAR86(p) which reads: Any person(including an official) shall be guilty of an offence if the person; disobeys or fails to comply with the lawful order of a Steward or other person or body having official duties in relation to greyhound racing. The specifics of the charge being as a licensee while at the Albion Park race meeting on Monday, 6 April 2020, Miss Yeomans did fail to obey the lawful direction of Club Officials to cease using a mobile phone while in the kennelling area which was in contravention of GAR 44 - Prohibited Use of Communication Device. Miss Yeomans was fined $500 with $250 suspended for a period of twelve months pending no further breaches of a similar rule. Miss Yeomans was advised of her rights to internal review.
Race 1 - SKY RACING MDNPW 331m General- The starting boxes failed to open on the first occasion causing a false start. Stewards ordered all greyhounds be removed from the starting boxes in order to undergo veterinary examinations. All greyhounds passed fit to race. 2 Real Demon- Collided with another runner approaching the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Had its heels contacted through the turn out of the back straight. 3 Snuggle Pie- Slow to begin. Collided with another runner approaching the turn out of the back straight and was checked. 4 Little Magoo- Bumped another runner entering the turn out of the back straight. Advanced onto the heels of another runner through the turn out of the back straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the near pin muscle and was stood down for a period of 7 days. 6 Sizing Platinum- Collided with another runner approaching the turn out of the back straight and was severely checked causing the greyhound to fall and retire from the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the nearside hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
Race 2 – SELL YOUR CAR @ MOTORHUB MAIDEN FINAL MAIDEN 331m 2 Call Me Marshall- Marginally slow to begin. Tightened for room shortly after the start and was severely checked. 5 Funny Honey- Quick to begin. Raised up slightly with the box rise. Forced to race wider through the turn into the home straight and was severely inconvenienced. 6 Hammer Drill- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was severely checked. 7 Yap And Jump- Eased and turned its head outwards through the turn into the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the nearside fibular and was stood down for a period of 10 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr J Henzel, regarding the greyhounds racing manners when racing through the turn into the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B(1), Yap and Jump was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment by reason of injury. Yap and Jump must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 69B(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted. 8 Sky's The Limit- Slow to begin. Forced to race wider through the turn into the home straight and was checked.
Race 3 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND NOVICE 331m 1 Take Your Shot- Tightened for room shortly after the start and checked. 2 Skye Diva- Shifted out to avoid heels and forced to race wider on the track entering the turn out of the back straight. Had its heels contacted and was severely checked shortly after. 3 Wild Fantasy- Quick to begin. 8 Lady Burner- Marginally slow to begin. Carried wider on the track entering the turn out of the back straight, contacted the heels of another runner and was checked.
Race 4 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND GRADE 5 395m 3 Jonathan's Rose- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was checked. 4 Prize Portrait- Tightened for room through the first turn and was severely checked. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Stewards requested Mr Brady inform the stewards pursuant to GAR75(2) should anything that might have a bearing on past or future running of Prize Portrait come to notice of the trainer after the greyhound has left the course, it shall be reported to the stewards as soon as practicable. 7 Big Man Rusty- Shifted out to avoid heels approaching the finish line. 8 Dame Esmerelda- Inconvenienced approaching the turn out of the back straight.
Race 5 – EXPAT LODGE MIXED 4/5 395m 1 Annie Said- Quick to begin. Shifted out entering the home straight. 4 Candy Sparkles- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was severely checked. 5 Banjo's Issue- Collided with another runner through the first turn and was severely checked. 7 Pre Cruise- Carried wider on the track into the home straight. 9 (Box 3) Hollywood Donuts- Slow to begin.
Race 6 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY MIXED 3/4 331m 1 Short Session- Tightened for room approaching the turn out of the back straight and was checked. 3 Edge Of Forever- Checked off heels rounding the turn into the home straight. 7 Ramblin' Rose- Quick to begin.
Race 7 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE 5TH GRADE FINAL GRADE 5 331m 1 Hope's Heist- Quick to begin. Raced tight onto the running rail entering the turn out of the back straight and became momentarily unbalanced. 3 Summer's Flyer- Tightened for room shortly after the start and was checked. 4 Little Rippa- Inconvenienced through the turn out of the back straight. 5 Who's Hope- Very slow to begin. 7 Little Huggy- Tightened for room shortly after the start and was checked.
Race 8 – THIRTY TALKS @ STUD BEST 8 331m 1 Zulu Plastique- Slow to begin. Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked 2 Farmor Millers- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked. Collided with another runner entering the home straight and was checked. 4 Swift Story- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Collided with another runner entering the home straight and was checked. 5 Data Base- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Collided with another runner entering the home straight and was checked. 6 Bergari- Collided with another runner approaching the first turn and was checked. 8 Lady Nicole- Collided with another runner approaching the first turn and was checked.
Race 9 – TAB - LONG MAY WE PLAY MA5 331m 1 Hi Que- Shifted out in the back straight and collided with another runner. 2 Lady Crimson- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was checked 3 Last Drink- Inconvenienced entering the turn out of the back straight. Checked entering the home straight. 4 Ima Necromancer- Tightened for room entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked. Checked entering the home straight. 5 Tejay's Magic- Quick to begin. 7 Apache Heat- Marginally slow to begin.
Race 10 – FAST TIMES @ SIRES ON ICE GRADE 5 (1) 331m 1 Junk Yard Hutchy- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was severely checked. 2 You Go There- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was severely checked. 4 Farmor Forex- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was severely checked. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the nearside shoulder and was stood down for a period of 10 days. 7 Maywyn's Zephyr- Slow to begin. Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was severely checked. 9 (Box 8) Lady Surprise- Shifted wider on the track to avoid interference through the first turn.
Race 11 – BRISGREYS.COM GRADE 5 (2) 331m 3 Beau's Image- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was severely checked. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant findings. Stewards requested Mr. Topping inform the stewards pursuant to GAR75(2) should anything that might have a bearing on past or future running of Beau’s Image come to notice of the trainer after the greyhound has left the course, it shall be reported to the stewards as soon as practicable. 5 Master Shadow- Collided with another runner shortly after the start and was severely checked.
Race 12 – TWITTER @BRISGREYS GRADE 5 (3) 331m 1 Merida- Quick to begin. 2 Walloon Boy- Collided with another runner entering the turn out of the back straight and was checked. 3 Maywyn Henry- Inconvenienced entering the turn out of the back straight. 4 Weeona Lucky- Inconvenienced in running through the first turn.
