Race 1 – GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND MAIDEN 520m
1 Chavez Herrera – sustained an injury when rounding the turn into the back straight and took no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have a fracture to the offside hock, was treated by the on-course vet and stood down from racing for 8 weeks and requires a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. Trainer Rodney Duff immediately transported the greyhound to a veterinary clinic for immediate assessment with the intention of undergoing surgery per the Racing Injury Rebate Scheme. Update 21/10/2020: Trainer Rodney Duff advised a post-meeting veterinary examination, including x-ray's, confirmed a serious fracture of the offside hock. He added the greyhound was receiving treatment and would soon undergo surgery. He added prospects of Chavez Herrera returning to racing is minimal and it would be his intention to retire and rehome the greyhound after its recovery.
2 Regal Rocky – collided with another runner, was checked and lost ground shortly after the start. Improved onto heels when entering the turn out of the front straight, fell and took no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination found the greyhound to have a back strain and was stood down for 10 days.
3 Big Boy Benji - tightened for room, checked, and lost ground shortly after the start.
4 Sits And Wags – slow to begin. Tightened for room, was severely checked, and lost ground shortly after the start. Bumped a runner, which had fallen, when entering the turn out of the front straight, and was checked.
5 Alfie Romeo – slow to begin. Tightened for room, was severely checked, and lost ground shortly after the start. Checked out off heels when entering the turn out of the front straight. Checked out off heels when rounding the home turn and lost ground.
6 Hostile Heart – shifted inwards after the start, collided with other runners, and was checked.
7 Happy Hornet – slow to begin. Tightened for room, checked, and lost ground shortly after the start.
8 Bobby Magee – slow to begin. Collided with another runner, was checked and lost ground shortly after the start.
Race 2 – ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND NOVICE 520m
Stewards delayed the declaration of All Clear to review the concluding stages of the event, where two ducks were located near the winning post. After considering all available evidence and having been satisfied no greyhound had its chances in the event materially prejudiced by this incident, Stewards confirmed the judges semaphored numbers and declared All Clear.
1 Rainbow Delight – tightened for room and checked when entering the turn out of the front straight.
2 Heart Of Mine – tightened for room and severely checked when entering the turn out of the front straight and then bumped with other runners shortly after when losing ground.
3 Preston Lee – marginally slow to begin.
4 Bullaroo Flash – marginally slow to begin and then bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Tightened for room and momentarily hampered in the front straight.
5 Detachment – marginally slow to begin and then bumped with another runner shortly after the start. Checked off heels in the front straight then shifted outward and bumped with another runner. Checked off heels when entering the turn out of the front straight and then bumped with another runner shortly after. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the back straight. Turned its head inwards and made muzzle contact with another runner when entering the home straight. Stewards advised trainer Ken Hawkings the greyhound would be stood down pursuant to GAR 69 for Marring for a first offence. The greyhound is barred from racing at Albion Park for 28 days and must completed a satisfactory Stewards’ trial prior to racing again.
7 Blazin' Ben - slow to begin. Checked off heels in the front straight.
8 Werina By Chance - slow to begin. Bumped by another runner in the front straight. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the back straight.
Race 3 – KEDRON WAVELL SERVICES CLUB MA5 395m
2 It's A Trick – shifted outwards on the turn out of the back straight, turned its head and muzzle contact with another runner on two occasions, was severely checked and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a strain to the nearside long head triceps. Stewards advised trainer Paul Cauchi the greyhound would be stood down pursuant to GAR 69 for Marring for a first offence. The greyhound is barred from racing at Albion Park for 28 days and must completed a satisfactory Stewards’ trial prior to racing again.
4 Mako Mac – tightened for room, hampered, and lost ground when rounding the turn into the back straight. Checked off heels when rounding the turn into the home straight.
5 Zenyatta Miss – bumped when leaving the back straight.
7 Chiron – marred by another runner when rounding the turn out of the back straight, was checked and lost ground.
Race 4 – RHINO FINANCE 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 GRADE 5 520m
1 Magical Warren – began awkwardly and was subsequently slow to begin. Shifted outwards when entering the turn out of the front straight, collided with another runner, was checked and lost ground. Tightened for room and lost ground when entering the back straight and continued to lose ground for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have a strain to the offside hind leg and was stood down for 14 days. Update 21/10/2020: Kennel representative Bill Elson advised that Magical Warren had shown further swelling to the offside hind leg. Mr Elson added the greyhound would be spelled.
2 Girl Like Her – tightened for room, collided with another runner, checked, and lost ground when approaching the turn out of the front straight. Tightened for room, checked, and lost ground when rounding the turn into the back straight.
4 Dame Esmerelda – tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. tightened for room, was severely checked, and lost ground when approaching the turn out of the front straight.
6 Thursday Shiraz – checked out across heels when entering the turn out of the front straight and lost ground.
7 Smart Cha Cha – tightened for room, was severely checked, and then collided with other runners when approaching the turn out of the front straight.
8 Riley's Reason – collided with another runner, which shifted outwards, when entering the turn out of the front straight, was checked and lost ground.
Race 5 – ORSON ALLEN @ STUD R4/5 600m
3 Farmor Watch Me – bumped and lost ground when rounding the turn into the home straight on the second occasion. Bumped again when entering the home straight and lost ground.
5 Irinka Lesa – bumped and lost ground through the turn shortly after the start. Tightened for room and lost ground when leaving the back straight.
6 Javens – slow to begin. Tightened for room and checked through the turn shortly after the start.
7 Steal Away – slow to begin. Bumped and lost ground through the turn shortly after the start.
8 Turanza Tiger – slow to begin. Tightened for room and momentarily hampered when leaving the front straight.
Race 6 – FABREGAS @ METICULOUS LODGE 5TH GRADE HEAT 2 GRADE 5 520m
1 Bonomel – tightened for room, severely checked, and lost considerable ground when rounding the turn into the back straight.
3 Never Sweeter – tightened for room through the turn into the back straight, checked, and lost ground, colliding with other runners.
4 Lil Bit Foxy – bumped with another runner when rounding the turn into the back straight and lost ground. Improved onto heels when rounding the turn into the home straight and was momentarily hampered.
5 Burns Like Gas – collided with another runner at the start, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.
6 My Bro Beach – collided with another runner at the start, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.
7 Stormy Shari – bumped when leaving the back straight and lost ground. Clipped on the heels when rounding the turn into the home straight and lost ground.
Race 7 – SENNACHIE @ STUD - STEVE WHITE 5TH GRADE HEAT 3 GRADE 5 520m
1 Don't Change – began very awkwardly, bounding in the air on jumping away, and lost ground. Shifted outwards when entering the turn out of the front straight and lost ground.
5 Ha Ha Lucky – tightened for room and momentarily hampered through the turn into the back straight.
6 Open My Mail – slow to begin.
7 Hurricane Ashy – slow to begin. Tightened for room, bumped, and lost ground when leaving the front straight.
8 Dinkydi Whispers – very slow to begin. Bumped and lost ground when leaving the front straight.
Race 8 – TAB - LONG MAY WE PLAY BEST 8 395m
1 Barbie's Beach – collided with another runner, which shifted inwards, shortly after the start, was checked and lost ground. Tightened for room and checked through the turn into the back straight, then shifted outwards and collided with another runner and lost further ground when entering the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
3 Jazz Button – shifted inwards shortly after the start, collided with another runner, was checked and lost ground. Tightened for room, checked, and lost ground when leaving the back straight, then bumped with another runner.
4 Shane Keith – checked off heels through the turn shortly after the start.
6 Farmor Crownies – collided with another runner, which shifted outwards, when entering the back straight, was checked and lost ground.
8 Annie Said – bumped with another runner when rounding the turn out of the back straight and was momentarily hampered.
Race 9 – BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY MIXED 4/5 395m
1 Winsome Fever – slow to begin.
6 Leeroy Renegade – slow to begin. Improved onto heels when entering the turn shortly after the start, was severely checked and lost ground before shifting wide in the back straight. Bumped when rounding the turn out of the back straight and was momentarily hampered. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound had a strained offside wrist and was stood down for 7 days.
7 My Movie Star – galloped on heels by another runner when entering the turn shortly after the start, was severely checked and lost ground.
Race 10 – SKY RACING MIXED 4/5 331m
1 No Clyde Needed – tightened for room, severely checked, and lost considerable ground when rounding the turn out of the back straight.
3 Lenny Talks – tightened for room and momentarily hampered shortly after the start. Commenced to give ground shortly after until entering the home straight where it took no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound had a strain to the near hind back muscle and was stood down for 28 days. Stewards advised trainer Paul Cauchi a veterinary clearance was required prior to the greyhound racing again. Mr Cauchi advised the greyhound would be retired.
4 Austria's Heidi – collided with a fallen runner when entering the back straight, was severely checked and almost fell taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
5 Lucky Duke – tightened for room, checked, and lost ground in the back straight. Checked off heels when rounding the turn out of the back straight and lost ground.
7 Team Austria – tightened for room, severely checked, and fell when entering the back straight taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Update 21/10/2020: Trainer Robert Peschke advised that Austria’s Heidi and Team Austria had undergone a post-meeting veterinary assessment which did not reveal any abnormalities.
