General:
Stewards convened an inquiry into the alleged raceday treatment of Prim and Proper, Classy Ethics, Super Estrella and Ice Cream Story, which were presented to compete in events at tonight’s meeting by trainer David Smith. After hearing evidence from Mr Smith and QRIC Veterinarians, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that Prim and Proper, Classy Ethics, Super Estrella and Ice Cream Story had not been treated in contravention of the rules of racing and Stewards therefore ordered that the greyhounds be withdrawn from their respective events pursuant to GAR83A(2). Samples were taken for analysis. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a date to be fixed.
Stewards convened an inquiry into trainer Peter Lagogiane having a prohibited substance in his possession at tonight’s meeting without the permission of Stewards. Trainer Peter Lagogiane explained to the Stewards that the substance was to be administered to his greyhounds post-race to aid in recovery. After considering all available evidence, Stewards issued a charge pursuant to GAR84B(3) in that he failed to comply with GAR84B(1) by possessing a prohibited substance on course without the permission of Stewards. Mr Lagogiane pleaded guilty to the charge and Stewards imposed a $500.00 fine.
