General: Stewards conducted a ballot in the presence of Trainer Jim Heddles and Club Official Jeff Williamson to determine the two greyhounds to participate in the final of the QGOLD ROOKIES in accordance with GAR 111(2)(b). The following greyhound/s progressed to the final:

1. Bantam Magic

2. Super Stacey

Race 1 - TAB - VENUE MODE MAIDEN 3 331m

1 She's Top Scotch – In the home straight was bumped heavily by another runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

2 Feisty Ninja – Shortly after the start was tightened and checked. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

3 Mint Rapper – In the home straight turned its head outwards and shifted out abruptly colliding with another runner taking its attention away from the lure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer R Hazelgrove regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event, after reviewing the video replay and the hearing the submissions from Mr Hazelgrove, stewards deemed Mint Rapper had taken its attention away from the lure therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Mint Rapper was suspended from racing at Albion Park for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.

Race 2 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND NOVICE 3 331m

6 Double Up Hope – Approaching the back turn was checked.

8 Munroe – Approaching the back turn clipped heels falling as a result, a post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 3 - QGOLD ROOKIES (L) HEAT 1 NOV/M 1 520m

1 Strange World – Approaching the 1^st turn was tightened.

3 Master Grunt – Approaching the back turn made contact with the running rail, a post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

4 Kenzie Baskin – Began awkwardly, leaving the 1^st turn was inconvenienced.

6 Willow's Gift – Through the 1^st turn was checked.

Race 4 - QGOLD ROOKIES (L) HEAT 2 NOV/M 1 520m

The Stewards declared this event a “No Race” in accordance with GAR 110. As two greyhounds fell into the 1^st turn and were not able to be recaptured. Due to the safety concern and the proximity of the fall the lure was eased down in the home straight.

1 Akubra Lad – Into the 1^st turn was severely checked falling as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

3 Bantam Magic - Into the 1^st turn was severely checked falling as a result. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 5 - QGOLD ROOKIES (L) HEAT 3 NOV/M 1 520m

1 Speedy Mint – Through the 1^st turn was checked.

2 Eli's Mate – Into the 1^st turn was tightened, in the back straight was checked.

5 Ebony Bar Cool Into the 1^st turn checked across heels.

7 Cookie Queen – Through the 1^st turn was inconvenienced.

8 Hooked On Dean – Into the 1^st turn was severely inconvenienced.

Race 6 - QGOLD ROOKIES (L) HEAT 4 NOV/M 1 520m

4 Senri Gardot – Shortly after the start was tightened and checked, into the 1^st turn was inconvenienced.

5 Ninetymile Gold – Shortly after the start was inconvenienced.

7 Sirius Bill – Slow to begin, into the 1^st turn was inconvenienced, leaving the 1^st turn was checked.

Race 7 - QGOLD VETERANS (L) HEAT 1 MA5 1 520m

1 Bust A Move – Approaching the back turn was momentarily tightened.

6 Pixie My Love – Into the 1^st turn was checked.

8 Fast And Fabio – Through the 1^st turn was inconvenienced, through the back turn improved onto heels.

Race 8 - QGOLD VETERANS (L) HEAT 2 MA5 1 520m

2 Dunworley Lass – Into the 1^st turn was tightened.

4 Love Game – Slow to begin.

5 Fernando Travis – Entering the back straight commenced to weaken appearing injured taking no real competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to its offside back muscle and was stood down from racing for 60 days. Trainers representative W Elson was advised the greyhound must complete a steward’s trial prior to racing next once the injury period has expired.

Race 9 - QGOLD VETERANS (L) HEAT 3 MA5 1 520m

2 Key West – Approaching the 1^st turn was tightened.

3 High Lighter – Approaching the 1^st turn was tightened.

Race 10 - NEWHAVEN STUD FARM GRADE 5 (1) 3 520m

1 Bye Bye Raider – In the home straight out marred the runner to its inside. Stewards spoke to trainers representative Harry McHugh regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at that stage of the event, after hearing the steward’s observation, reviewing the video replay and the trainers’ submissions, stewards deemed that Bye Bye Raider did make head contact with the greyhound to its outside therefore invoked GAR 123 Marring. As this was the greyhound’s 2nd offence under this rule Bye Bye Raider was suspended from racing at all tracks for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

2 Phantom Jasper – In the home straight was marred by another runner.

4 Haytown's Girl – Into the 1^st turn was tightened, rounding the home turn was inconvenienced.

5 Hellacious – Through the 1^st turn was inconvenienced.

6 Black Monaro – Into the 1^st turn checked across heels.

Race 11 - BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY GRADE 5 (2) 3 520m

1 Caramel Queen – Into the back turn was checked.

2 I'm Peakin' – Shortly after the start was tightened, into the back turn was inconvenienced.

3 Mr. Tim Mcgee – Into the back turn was checked.

4 Bellissimo Blue – Slow to begin.

6 Japanese Black – Into the 1^st turn was checked, through the 1^st turn was checked.

8 Golden Penny – Into the 1^st turn was inconvenienced, through the 1^st turn was checked.

9 Bay Street Boy – Into the 1^st turn was checked.

Race 12 - SKY RACING MIXED 4/5 3 331m

2 Tuzla Bale – Through the back turn was checked.

4 Life's Gal – Into the back turn was checked.

6 Game One – Through the back turn was checked.

7 Wonders Magic – Through the back turn was tightened between runners falling as a result, taking no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an injury to its nearside foreleg radius and was stood down from racing for 90 days. The greyhound was transported QVS Stafford for further examinations and treatment. This matter will be referred to the greyhound injury review panel.
