3 Manhattan Girl- Raced wide throughout. Checked through the turn into the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards spoke with trainer Mr T Zammit regarding the greyhound’s performance. Mr Zammit commented that the greyhound is inclined to position itself wide in trials and following tonight’s performance will reassess her training program and may consider alternative distance and straight track options for future starts.
6 Take A Shot- Turned its head outwards in the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to both hind feet and was stood down from racing for a period of 3 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Nigel Rugg regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Stewards deemed Take A Shot had taken its attention away from the lure and therefore invoked GAR 125(a), failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Take A Shot must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 127(a), before any future nomination will be accepted. |
