Other Comments / Explanations: Due to Government advice around COVID-19, in accordance with GAR 51(10), the Stewards directed the Starter to box the greyhounds into the starting boxes in the following order, 1 & 5, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8 for all races
Race 1 - TERRY SIGNS MAIDEN 460m The race was declared a no-race as a result of the Chairman of stewards ordering the lure to be brought to a stop, in regards to the welfare of a runner that was running back towards the finish line, in the opposite direction.
1 Silver Spike – Slow to begin and eased to a standstill at the first turn, before running back in the wrong direction. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a neck strain injury and was stood down from racing for a period of 42 days. Stewards charged the greyhound under GAR 71 – Unsatisfactory performance, with the greyhound needing to perform a satisfactory stewards trial before resuming racing. The greyhound will also need to produce a satisfactory veterinary certificate before being eligible for that trial.
Race 2 – BARGARA BAKERY CAFE NOVICE 460m 1 Boydtown Bandit – Checked approaching the first turn. Checked with another runner on multiple occasions leaving the first turn. Checked leaving the turn into the back straight and lost substantial ground. 2 Just Too Fast – Checked approaching the first turn. Tightened for room then was checked on multiple occasions leaving the first turn, losing ground as a result. Inconvenienced by another runner from behind, leaving the turn into the back straight. 3 Magnolia Wind – Raced wide through the turn into the front straight. 4 Paddle Tails – Tightened for room then checked off heels approaching the turn into the back straight. 7 Medicine Woman – Hampered approaching the first turn. Impeded entering the back straight. Hampered in the front straight. 8 Beltline – Checked approaching the first turn. Checked approaching the turn out of the back straight. Hampered entering the front straight.
Race 3 – CHIP TYRE RECYCLERS MA5 460m 1 Branwell Lee – Hampered leaving the first turn. Tightened for room then checked entering the turn into the back straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to one of the nearside toes and was stood down from racing for a period of 21 days. 2 Blackpool Blast – Bumped with another runner approaching the first turn. 3 Enough Knowledge – Bumped with another runner approaching the first turn. Tightened for room then checked, losing considerable ground leaving the turn into the back straight. 6 No Mediocre – Checked off heels approaching the turn out of the back straight and lost considerable ground. 8 Sunburnt Road – Tightened for room and checked off heels entering the back straight.
Race 4 – UNCLE RUSTY'S PHOTOS GRADE 5 460m 2 King Taka – Hampered leaving the first turn. 3 Belli Ultra – Checked entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked leaving the first turn and lost considerable ground. Hampered approaching the turn out of the back straight. 4 Counter Fire – Checked entering the first turn and lost ground. 6 Andrew's Shadow – Marginally slow to begin. 7 Ollie's Lad – Bumped with another runner leaving the first turn. 8 Hostile Intent – Momentarily hampered whilst shifting out, approaching the turn into the front straight. Raced very wide through the turn into the front straight and continued wide for the remainder of the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5 – EAST END HOTEL GRADE 5 550m 4 Takura Tornado – Checked on a number of occasions in the front straight on the first occasion. 5 Pact – Tightened for room and checked on a number of occasions in the front straight on the first occasion and lost ground. Collided into another runner entering the first turn and lost considerable ground. Checked leaving the first turn. 7 Macdowell – Checked on a number of occasions in the front straight on the first occasion. 8 Richmer Attack – Inconvenienced by another runner entering the first turn and was checked. Hampered approaching the turn into the back straight.
Race 6 – ENDEAVOUR FOUNDATION GRADE 5 460m 2 Roman Siren – Checked entering the first turn. 4 Samira – Best to begin. Tightened for room and checked leaving the first turn, losing considerable ground as a result. Heels were contacted by another runner approaching the turn out of the back straight and lost considerable ground. 5 We Love Roxy – Bumped with another runner approaching the first turn. Checked leaving the first turn and lost considerable ground. 6 Jiggle No Wiggle – Checked approaching the first turn. Checked leaving the first turn and lost ground. 7 Doreas – Checked approaching the first turn. 8 Kingsbrae Sasha – Shifted inwards and was significantly checked leaving the first turn. Checked off heels approaching the turn out of the back straight and lost ground. Hampered approaching the turn into the front straight.
Race 7 – ANZAC CUP MIXED 3/4 460m 1 Light The Barbie – Checked off heels approaching the turn into the front straight. Shifted outwards and checked into another runner in the front straight. 2 Miss Emmy – Shifted outwards and collided heavily into the runner racing to its outside approaching the first turn. Continued to shift outwards and checked with that same runner on multiple occasions through the first turn and lost severe ground as a result.
Stewards spoke to licenced trainer Mr John Kuhl in relation to the actions of his greyhound entering and through the first turn. Mr Kuhl stated that the greyhound tends to prefer racing to the outside section of the track and that today was attempting to get to that area when colliding with the other runner. Stewards considered Mr Kuhl’s explanation and gave the greyhound the benefit of the doubt on this occasion. Stewards also made Mr Kuhl aware that they have had some concerns with the actions of the greyhound lately and they will be monitoring these actions moving forward. 4 Road Scholar – Severely inconvenienced by another runner approaching and also through the first turn, losing substantial ground as a consequence. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities. 8 Soda Caesar – Marginally slow to begin. Hampered approaching the turn out of the back straight. Hampered approaching the turn into the front straight. Checked in the front straight.
