General: Following the running of race 2 severe electrical storms caused stewards to delay the start for race 3 and originally moved back by 1 race timeslot, and then subsequently moved back a further race timeslot. Due to the extended period of the storm and the ferocious nature of the stormfront the decision was made to abandon the remainder of the meeting. In determining this outcome stewards were mindful of welfare concerns raised by the attending veterinary officers in relation to the kennelled race dogs and the impact that the exposure to such storms may have had on their racing performance. As well as advice from the track curator and information from the Bureau of Meteorology. |
