TRIALS

Stewards Trial 1 – 410m

The greyhound CRUSHED ICE performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 410m in a time of 24.14 and is now cleared all tracks.

 

The greyhound MY MATE FROSTY failed a stewards’ trial over the distance of 410m. This greyhound underwent a post trial veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

RACE REPORTS

 

1.

POTIRIS FAMILY MAIDEN 410M

BOXER BOY was best to begin while HEATHAN BRETT and CORONA MISS were also well away.  Shortly after the start HEATHEN BRETT was tightened and lost ground.  In the 1st turn SCOMELD and HOLY TOLEDO came together resulting in HOLY TOLEDO losing ground.  HEATHAN BRETT was wide in the back straight.

 

The greyhound HOLY TOLEDO underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer L Randall that the greyhound HOLY TOLEDO’s performance was bordering on unsatisfactory.

2.

LOUNDS SEAFOOD MAIDEN 410M

TEST YOURSELF was best to begin while LIL BIT AWESOME was slowly away.  Shortly after the start PARIS AUGOGO, SILVER MOUSE and OSPREY LIZ were tightened as a result of CROFFTY’S CARNAGE shifting out.  As a result OSPREY LIZ was forced onto the running of LIL BIT AWESOME and both greyhounds were checked.

 

The greyhound TEST YOURSELF underwent a post race veterinary examination and found to have suffered an injury to the groin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

CHASE MAGAZINE 4/5th GRADE 410M

 

The greyhound WENEREX was a late scratching from this event by order of Stewards. TAB was notified at 7:34pm.

 

HARA’S SIZZLE was best to begin while CHIEF START was slow.  Passing the catching pen VELOCITY AIM was checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight CHIEF START was tightened.  In the top turn VELOCITY AIM checked off heels.  Entering the home straight SHAKE YOUR BOOTY shifted out hampering VINDICATION.

4.

TELESAT 5th GRADE 544M

Due to a malfunction the starting boxes were ‘hand started’ for this event.

 

NOVA PARTY was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn STILL COMING and TEMNICK came together forcing TEMNICK to shift out and check KERRIE’S A MINX.  NOVA PARTY checked off heels entering the 1st turn.

RQ YOUNG GUNS HEAT 1 410M

SCOTT SPEED was best to begin while BLOCKER’S ANGEL was slowly away.  Entering the back straight DIAMOND FIESTA was checked.  TAPATAK was wide in the back straight.  Approaching the top turn MAXIMUS HOUDINI checked off heels.  In the top turn TAPATAK improved onto the heels of BLOCKER’S ANGEL and fell, taking no further competitive part in the event.  Entering the home straight MAXIMUS HOUDINI checked off heels.

 

The greyhound TAPATAK underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to both hind muscles and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

RQ YOUNG GUNS HEAT 2 410M

FLYING MOZZIE and BURNER BANT were best to begin while RONRAY BULLET was slowly away.  In the 1st turn FLYING MOZZIE was checked and lost ground and UNIVERSAL ONE which was following was hampered as a result.  Approaching the top turn FLYING MOZZIE was tightened and lost ground.

 

The greyhound RONRAY BULLET underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards questioned the trainer of RONRAY BULLET Mr. J Reid in regards to the greyhound’s seemingly disappointing performance in this event.  Mr. Reid advised that the greyhound tends to race its best when able to begin well from the boxes, and in his opinion this greyhound is not capable of such on every occasion.  Mr. Reid considered that as this was the greyhound’s first trip to Cairns this may also have been detrimental to its performance.  Mr. Reid undertook to inform stewards should any injuries come to light with the greyhound in the subsequent days.

ALL FUELED UP was best to begin.  Shortly after the start GIVEAWAY LASS and RONRAY FLAME were tightened.  Passing the catching pen MARG’S MEMORY was tightened and lost ground.  Entering the top turn BERISHA and GUNNADOO TWIST came together.

INTERSPORTS CAIRNS 3/4th GRADE 410M

PA TING was best to begin while NEVILLE ROSE was slowly away.  Shortly after the start BANDALORE shifted in tightening IT’S HIS JOB and FARMOR GREENIES.  In the 1st turn NEVILLE ROSE checked off heels.  Passing the catching pen LIBERTY LEGS checked off heels.  Entering the top turn BANDALORE shifted in tightening ZIPPING BUBBA which lost ground and FARMOR GREENIES which was following was hampered.  LIBERTY LEGS was wide through the top turn.

BROTHERS LEAGUES CLUB 5th GRADE 410M

DIAMOND OLLIE was best to begin.  Shortly after the start NO WORRIES BUDDY was tightened.  In the 1st turn SIR REGINALD checked off heels.  Shortly after, SIR REGINALD improved onto the heels of MISS LARDIE DA and lost ground.  Entering the back straight SHELDON ROSE and MISS LARDIE DA were tight.  In the back straight NO WORRIES BUDDY shifted out checking SIR REGINALD which lost ground.  In the top turn SIR REGINALD and NO WORRIES BUDDY raced tight and unbalanced.

MERRY CHRISTMAS 5th GRADE 410M

MAX ROCKET, I’M A GIFT and JACOBITE PHANTOM were best to begin.  In the 1st turn CHARLOTTE’S MISS, STARZAR GOLD and COLLISION COURSE all collided and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn JACOBITE PHANTOM shifted in tightening I’M A GIFT which lost ground.  In the top turn CHARLOTTE’S MISS checked off heels.  Shortly after, JACOBITE PHANTOM and KNOCKIN’ BLUE collided.  PEARSON PRIDE was wide in the top turn.  Entering the home straight JACOBITE PHANTOM checked off heels and collided with STARZAR GOLD and both greyhounds lost ground.
