86(o) Improper act nominating greyhounds when not fit to start, $400. INJURIES: S/Trial
SPRING REMI, Injured in running, near hind toe, 28 days ENDORSEMENTS:
Nil GENERAL: Stewards opened an
inquiry into the scratching of greyhounds, REUBEN LUCKA (Race 3), ALL FUELED
UP and SKY LARK (Race 4) and CASEY MINI ME (Race 5), all being trained by Mr
Robert Lound. Evidence was taken
from Mr Lound who stated that the four greyhounds
competed in Townsville on Tuesday 9 January 2018 and he nominated the
greyhounds for Cairns prior to checking if they were fit to race. Subsequently Mr Lound was charged under the provisions of GAR 86.(o)
which states:- A person (including an official) shall be guilty of an
offence if the person has, in relation to a greyhound or greyhound racing,
done a thing, or omitted to do a thing, which, in the opinion of the Stewards
or the Controlling Body, as the case may be, is negligent, dishonest,
corrupt, fraudulent or improper, or constitutes misconduct. The specifics of the
charge being that Mr Lound nominated the four
greyhounds in question when they were unfit to race which the Stewards deemed
to be improper. Mr Lound was found guilty of the charge and was fined $400. |
