General:

Stewards inquired into the findings of a matchstick in the rectum of Poseidon Rush when it was presented to kennelling. After considering the submissions made by licensed trainer Marion Goodwin and kennel representative Marie Goodwin, Stewards issued reprimands to both licensees under GAR156(f)(ii). A pre-race sample was collected from Poseidon Rush for analysis.

Trainer Jedda Cutlack entered a plea of guilty and was fined the sum of $100.00 in respect of a charge issued pursuant to Greyhounds Australasia Rule 86(1) for failing to present the greyhound’s Sherwood and Salieri to the Stewards within the advertised kennelling time.

Race 2 - ANNUAL PEST MANAGEMENT MAIDEN HEAT 2 MAIDEN 366m

1 Farmor Relief- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any significant findings. Stewards noted comments made by trainer D Bailey regarding the greyhound overall performance and issued a warning.

Race 3 - JUST GREYHOUND PHOTOS NOVICE (1) 366m

No significant racing incidents.

Race 4 - TREVOR MCSHERRY CLASSIC NOVICE (2) 366m

8 Poseidon Rush- Checked shortly after the start.

Race 5 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW GRADE 4 366m

3 Billy Nailer- Checked immediately after the start.

4 Daysea's Rowdy- Checked immediately after the start.

Race 6 - WYNNUM HAULAGE MIXED 4/5 366m

No significant racing incidents.

Race 7 - SENTENCED AT STUD BEST 8 366m

No significant racing incidents.

Race 8 - DR JOHN MURRAY 5TH GRADE FINAL GRADE 5 366m

4 Thumbs Up- Checked nearing the 200m mark.

6 Sherwood- Checked nearing the 200m mark.

8 Mercury- Checked nearing the 200m mark. Checked and fell nearing the 100m mark. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any significant findings.

Race 9 - WWW.ONTHECLOCK.COM.AU GRADE 5 (1) 366m

6 Liar For Hire- Turned its head inwards and visibly eased approaching the finish post. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer J Wells regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event, after reviewing the video replay and the hearing the submissions from Mr Wells, Stewards deemed Liar For Hire had taken its attention away from the lure therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Liar For Hire was suspended from racing at Capalaba for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.

8 Canya Bellatrix- Late scratching at 9.27am with Stewards permission, penalty free.

Race 10 - TAB GRADE 5 (2) 366m

2 Coal Island- Stumbled immediately after the start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the offside pin muscle and was stood down from racing for 10 days.

4 Kooringa Jack- Checked shortly after the start.

Race 11 - PREFERENTIAL BOX DRAW MASTERS FINAL MA5 366m

8 Coruba- Showed signs of aggression in catching pen towards other runners. Acting under the provisions of GAR131 Stewards advised trainer K O’Brien that greyhound will now be required to have 2 catchers at future events.
