Stewards Trial 1 – 431m

The greyhound RYLI’S RANGA performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.45 and is now cleared all tracks.

SEA LEGS was best to begin.  ROSDUE GOANNA was slow out.  Leaving the front straight CHANDON HAWKE clipped the heels of SPRING MARSHALL shifted out and made heavy contact with ESSENTIALLY PURE, which in turn shifted out and made heavy contact with ROSDUE GOANNA, resulting in all greyhounds being severely checked and lose considerable ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight MINDY’S DREAM was momentarily tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 520M

CECA STRIDE was best to begin.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight TOVENAAR was tightened for racing room, checked out and made heavy contact with AURIGA BINDI causing that greyhound to fall and take no further part in the race.  RUSEV, FAST GIRL ZOLA and MOVIE MARATHON were all severely checked losing considerable ground as a result of this incident.  AGUERO TEXADA and RUFFY ROAD collided over the concluding stages.

 

The greyhound AURGIA BINDI was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

TRACK & TRAIN KIBBLE NOVICE 431M

ELITE MARJ was best to begin.  Shortly after the start SPRING CRUSHER and COSMIC LAPTOP collided resulting in both greyhounds being checked.  Shortly after TOMMY BENZ was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Not long after the start DUFFY’S BEACH was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight JAYDEN’S A STAR and SPRING CRUSHER collided causing both greyhounds to be checked.  In the back straight TOMMY BENZ and DUFFY’S BEACH raced wide.

KNEW YOU WOULD was best to begin.  ARE YOU THERE and BLACK RHINO both raced wide in the back straight.

O’REILLY PET FOODS 5th GRADE HEAT 1 520M

IRONBAR JILL was best to begin.  Approaching the turn into the back straight DASH OF FAITH was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound IRONBAR JILL was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near side pin and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

C2C CONSTRUCTIONS 5th GRADE HEAT 2 520M

CARIBBEAN JET was best to begin.  Through the turn out of the front straight OREO DELIGHT and LORRY DRYVA collided.  Leaving the back straight OREO DELIGHT and LALIQUE collided.  Over the final stages OREO DELIGHT gave ground.

 

The greyhound OREO DELIGHT was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON 3/4th GRADE 520M

SPRING GRACE was best to begin.  OH THAT’S NICE was tightened for racing room shortly after the start.  Shortly after BOOM WARRIOR was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  In the front straight on the 1st occasion MURBAH GOLD was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight ASTOUND YA was tightened for racing room, checked and fell taking no further competitive part in the race.  ROCKY BE GOOD, OH THAT’S NICE, SLAYER RETURN, DAYSEAS RIGG and BOOM WARRIOR were all severely checked as a result of this incident.  Leaving the back straight SLAYER RETURN and ROCKY BE GOOD collided.  Rounding the turn into the front straight ROCKY BE GOOD turned its head and failed to chase the lure with due cause.  BOOM WARRIOR and SLAYER RETURN were checked as a consequence.

 

The greyhound DAYSEAS RIGG was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound ASTOUND YA was vetted and found to have suffered an injury to the near hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

The greyhound ROCKY BE GOOD was vetted and no apparent injuries were found.  Stewards advised trainer Ms. J Price represntative that the greyhound would be charged under Rule 69A Failing to Pursue, 1st offence, 28 days plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 520m all tracks.

JOHN PAY MEMORIAL 5th GRADE FINAL 520M

DARCY’S FANTASY and CUPPA TEA KIWI were best to begin.  ARDVARK was tightened for racing room shortly after the start, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the front straight CUPPA TEA KIWI was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ARDVARK made contact with the hindquarters of CUPPA TEA KIWI causing that greyhound to be checked and lose ground.  ARDVARK was hampered as a consequence.

ROSEWOOD & DISTRICT COMMUNITY BANK 4/5th GRADE 431M

Even start.  Approaching the turn into the back straight ALEEAH JET, HEZA SIZE UP, FARMOR MAYHEM and ALOTA FUTURE were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground to varying degrees.  Entering the back straight JIMMY BRUTE checked off the heels of ALOTA FUTURE and was hampered as a consequence.  CHEEKY CHEECH raced wide in the back straight.  Leaving the back straight OKA’S ANGEL was momentarily tightened for racing room and was hampered as a consequence.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight FARMOR MAYHEM was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the front straight OKA’S ANGEL checked over the heels of RUBY’S IN YELLOW and was hampered as a consequence.  In the run to the finish ALEEAH JET and CHEEKY CHEECH collided on a number of occasions.

THRILLA MACHINE was best to begin.  Shortly after the start HESA BIRD, LAKODA DAWN, HOPEFUL JACK and LITTLE FONZIE were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

Stewards opened an inquiry into the actions of LITTLE FONZIE over the latter stages of the event.  After taking evidence from trainer Mr. M Boody and viewing the available footage of the incident, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied to the required standard to lay a charge against LITTLE FONZIE and gave the greyhound the benefit of the doubt when it came into contact with THRILLA MACHINE over the concluding stages.
