TRIALS

Stewards Trial 1 – 431m

The greyhound COLLIE ROSE HI performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.56 and is now cleared all tracks except Brisbane.

 

The greyhound BLUE DOT performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.03 and is now cleared all tracks except Ipswich until after 1 June 2017.

 

The greyhound VELOCITY CLOVER performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 26.37 and is now cleared all tracks except Ipswich until after 2 June 2017.

EDGY was best to begin with KIMARI MARIA slowly away.  Shortly after the start MINNIE MAYWYN was checked.  In the 1st turn ARABIAN GO DANI and POET SOCIETY were tightened as MINNIE MAYWYN shifted in and all 3 greyhounds were unbalanced.  Leaving the 1st turn ARABIAN GO DANI and POET SOCIETY came together causing POET SOCIETY to lose ground.  In the back straight MINNIE MAYWYN checked off heels.  Approaching the top turn POET SOCIETY improved onto the heels of MINNIE MAYWYN and both greyhounds were checked.

SKY RACING MAIDEN 431M

WILDASH THUNDER, ZABDON MCGREGOR and DAHOMEY WILDWIND were best to begin.  Shortly after the start READY CETTE, SIGHTZ, KNOCKA ON FIRE and WILDASH THUNDER collided and were unbalanced.  Shortly after, KNOCKA ON FIRE and SIXTEEN WINX collided.  Leaving the 1st turn DAHOMEY WILDWIND and ZABDON MCGREGOR raced tight and bumped.  SIGHTZ and WILDASH THUNDER raced tight entering the back straight and lost ground as a result.  Leaving the top turn DAHOMEY WILDWIND and READY CETTE collided.

ALPHA 390 FINANCE NOVICE 431M

BLUSHING MEL and WERINA LIGHTNING were slow to begin.  After the start WERINA LIGHTNING and GOLD RAINS collided and lost ground.  In the 1st turn DAB LIVY DAB, SQUARE BARE and FIRED UP AGAIN all raced tight, became severely unbalanced, and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn SQUARE BARE checked off heels and was hampered.  In the top turn WERINA LIGHTNING shifted awkwardly.

 

The greyhound BLACKJACK BETTY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned on the greyhound’s weakening over the concluding stages, trainer Mr. D. Turley stated that the greyhound did struggle to run strongly over the entire 431m distance, although he hoped BLACKJACK BETTY could improve with further exposure to events of this distance. Mr. Turley’s comments were noted by stewards.

WIGGLE EMMA was best to begin.  Shortly after the start HURUNUI ALYSSA and FRANKA collided.  In the 1st turn HURUNUI ALYSSA and FRANKA collided causing FRANKA to shift out.  Leaving the 1st turn BACK ON TRACK and UP THE HEAT raced tight and unbalanced.  Shortly after, HURUNUI ALYSSA was tightened.  Entering the top turn LITTLE DOTTY TOO, UP THE HEAT and BACK ON TRACK were all checked.

 

The greyhound FRANKA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  When questioned on the greyhound’s below market expectation performance, trainer Mr. W. Nicholls advised that in his opinion the greyhound’s starting price was not commensurate with its ability. Further to this Mr. Nicholls stated that he did not expect the greyhound to finish in the placings in this event and subsequently did not support the greyhound. Stewards noted Mr. Nicholls’ comments.

TREMBATH TYRE REPAIRS 5th GRADE 431M

Even start.  ICONIC BEACH and CHOC LATTE CLOUD collided shortly after the start.  In the 1st turn SHAKEY RANDLE was checked.  Shortly after, NOT TODAY MATE, FLASH GEE and LIGHTNING WHITE bumped and were unbalanced.  Entering the top turn FLASH GEE was tightened and lost ground.

O’REILLY PET FOOD 5th GRADE 520M

HERO HAYDOS and PEPPER BEACH were best to begin.  MIDNIGHT SHUFFLE was tightened shortly after the start.  In the front straight ARE YOU THERE checked off the heels of PEPPER BEACH and shortly after collided with MINNIE MARTINI and lost ground as a result.  Approaching the 1st turn PEE CRIPPS and IMA RUNAWAY collided causing IMA RUNAWAY to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  BOM WARRIOR that was following was also caused to fall as a result and took no further competitive part in the event.  In the 1st turn MIDNIGHT SHUFFLE and MINNIE MARTINI raced tight and unbalanced.

 

The greyhound BOOM WARRIOR underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound IAM RUNAWAY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound CHOC LATTE CLOUD underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the off side pin and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

BOGAN DANCER was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start DROP SHORT, SPRING MARSHALL and LIGHTNING LARICO collided.  Approaching the 1st turn BOGAN DANCER and AVAMAY collided causing BOGAN DANCER to fall and take no further competitive part in the event.  DROP SHORT that was following was hampered.  SWIFT NIMROD was wide in the back straight.  Entering the top turn SWIFT NIMROD checked off heels.  In the top turn AVAMAY and LIGHTNING LARICO bumped and became unbalanced.

 

The greyhound BOGAN DANCER underwent a post-race veterinary examination, was found to have suffered an injury to the neck, and was stood down for a period of 7 days.

C2C CONSTRUCTIONS 4/5th GRADE 431M

WILDASH BAM BAM was best to begin. In the first turn WITHCOTT FLYER, CINCINNATI JUICE and YOU JANE were tightened. Leaving the first turn ONYA BENZ was tightened. Approaching the top turn CINCINNATI JUICE and WILDASH BAM BAM collided. Entering the top turn WITHCOTT FLYER checked off heels.

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON 5th GRADE 431M

Even start.  In the 1st turn ME HAPPY, LONESOME HERO, DORREGO and BLACK AMEX all collided and became unbalanced with BLACK AMEX, LONESOME HERO and DORREGO losing ground.  In the top turn DORREGO improved onto the heels of BLACK AMEX and BEST SHARED and all 3 greyhounds became severely unbalanced.

 

The greyhound LONESOME HERO underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.
