The greyhound BELVEDERE BABE performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial over the distance of 431m in a time of 25.45 and is now cleared all tracks.

OUTLAW ANNIE, BONDI GIRL and ZABDON MCGREGOR were best to begin.  At the start DAZE LIKE THESE, GALWAY BLUEBIRD and BLUE GIRL BLUE were all tightened for racing room and checked.  Entering the first turn GALWAY BLUEBIRD was tightened for racing room and checked.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight DAZE LIKE THESE checked off the heels of KIMARI MARIA resulting in both runners to lose ground.  At the same time BLUE GIRL BLUE and POET SOCIETY bumped resulting in both runners to be hampered.  Rounding the turn into the front straight BLUE GIRL BLUE and POET SOCIETY bumped on a number of occasions resulting in BLUE GIRL BLUE to be hampered and lose ground.  POET SOCIETY raced wide for a majority of the event.

SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 431M

HOT was best to begin.  Shortly after the start SPRING COMMAND shifted inwards and tightened the running of TOPAZ TAN resulting in that runner to be hampered and lose ground.  Entering the first turn SPRING COMMAND continued to shift inwards and make contact with the hindquarters of JIMARY FREE resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.  Entering the back straight TOPAZ TAN bumped SPRING COMMAND resulting in that runner to be checked, shift outwards and lose ground.  In the home straight, in the run to the finish, JIMARY FREE shifted inwards and tightened the running of TOPAZ TAN and HOT resulting in both of those greyhounds to be hampered and lose ground.

ALPHA 390 FINANCE MAIDEN FINAL 431M

SMOKIN’ ALICE and FROSTY WITCH were best to begin.  Shortly after the start ALISSA’S ANGEL shifted outwards and collided with ADAM ROSE HI resulting in ALISSA’S ANGEL to be checked and lose ground and ADAM ROSE HI to be checked, shift outwards and collide with FROSTY BLACK JAY, who in turn was checked and lost ground.  Entering the first turn FROSTY BLACK JAY checked off heels.  At the same time RATHNAIT and SMOKIN’ ALICE were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  ADAM ROSE HI and ZAZU’S HEADACHE which were trailing those runners were checked and lost ground as a consequence.  FROSTY BLACK JAY which was trailing ZAZU’S HEADACHE shifted outwards to avoid that runner’s heels.  In the back straight ADAM ROSE HI and FROSTY BLACK JAY collided.  Rounding the turn into the front straight ADAM ROSE HI shifted outwards and contacted the hindquarters of ALISSA’S ANGEL resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.

WHITE EAGLE was best to begin with CHIPPIE ROSE HI and SPECIAL SHOW slow to begin.  Entering the first turn EDGY, GALWAY EAGLE, BRONCO BOY and PIPELINE PIP were all tightened for racing room and checked to varying degrees.  SPECIAL SHOW which was trailing was checked as a consequence.  Entering the turn out of the back straight WHITE EAGLE was tightened for racing room and checked.

JUST SPIFFING was best to begin with ONE IN SIX and TWISTER slow to begin.  Shortly after the start JIMARY NEMESIS and KINGSBRAE MARIA bumped resulting in both runners to be hampered and lose ground.  Approaching the first turn JIMARY NEMESIS was tightened for racing room, checked and shifted outwards colliding with KINGSBRAE MARIA resulting in that runner to be checked.  FLYING TWISTER which was trailing KINGSBRAE MARIA collided with that runner and forced both greyhounds out wide on the turn and to be severely checked and lose considerable ground as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the back straight ONE IN SIX was tightened for racing room and checked.

 

The greyhound KINGSBRAE MARIA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

JIMARY MAGIC was best to begin with LORD LACHLAN slow to begin.  At the start JIMARY BOND and SPRING ERNIE were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the first turn LORD LACHLAN was tightened for racing room, checked and shifted outwards.  KILANI KARL and SPRING ERNIE which were trailing were checked as a consequence.  JIMARY MAGIC and JIMARY BOND raced wide round the first turn.  Rounding the turn into the back straight OH GOLLY GOSH and JIMARY MAGIC collided resulting in OH GOLLY GOSH to be hampered and JIMARY MAGIC to be checked and lose ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight JIMARY MAGIC was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

Even start.  Shortly after the start SPRING MYSTERY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the first turn NINA ROSE HI was tightened for racing room and hampered.  Entering the first turn KNEW YOU WOULD and VELOCITY LINDER were tightened for racing room and checked.  Rounding the turn into the back straight VELOCITY LINDER eased and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight NINA ROSE HI was tightened for racing room and checked.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight FABRE FORCE was tightened for racing room, severely checked and lost considerable ground.  KANDAHAR PRINCE which was trailing was severely checked and lost ground. KNEW YOU WOULD and ASTIN’S WARRIOR shifted outwards to avoid those runner’s heels.

 

The greyhound FABRE FORCE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

The greyhound VELOCITY LINDER underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the near hind fibula and was stood down for a period of 10 days.  Stewards advised trainer Mr. S Scott that the greyhound would be stood down pursuant to GAR Rule 69 (A) Failing to Pursue, 2nd Offence, 3 months plus a satisfactory stewards’ trial 431m all tracks.

Even start with the exception of NOVELLA which was slow to begin. Approaching the first turn EVERTON BOY bumped CUT THE CAKE resulting in that runner to be checked and lose ground. Through the first turn NAOMI ROSE HI was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Rounding the turn out of the back straight NAOMI ROSE HI and NOVELLA collided resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground. Approaching the turn into the front straight NAOMI ROSE HI and NOVELLA collided resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground. Rounding the turn into the front straight CUT THE CAKE and WITHCOTT FLYER collided resulting in WITHCOTT FLYER to be checked and lose ground.

SAIL SURFER and KAWATI SON were best to begin.  Rounding the turn into the back straight MYONA ROSE and KAWATI SON collided resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.  At the same time DARK JEDI and BINALONG ROAD were tightened for racing room and hampered.  Entering the turn out of the back straight SAGA NOREN was tightened for racing room and momentarily hampered.  Approaching the turn into the front straight SAGA NOREN checked off heels.

Even start.  Entering the first turn GIFTED ANGEL was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after SPRING SHELLEY, SNOZZSTA and WIGGLE were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  SNOW GIRL which was trailing was checked as a consequence.  Rounding the turn into the front straight SNOZZSTA collided with SPRING SHELLEY on a number of occasions resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.
