Stewards’ Trial

The greyhound, SAPPHIRE QUEEN, performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial, over a distance of 431m, in a

 time of 24.85, and is cleared to race all tracks,

1.

LITTLE LUCK and SIN CITY KITTY were both best to begin.  ANGELS ARE REAL was very slow.  MAGIC MALT, DRIVES ME CRAZY and MINNIE BLUE raced tight and checked at the 1st turn, with MINNIE BLUE losing ground as a consequence.  EL BAZZA and FANCY A BOHERNA, which were trailing, were inconvenienced and lost ground as a result.  SIN CITY KITTY shifted out in the back straight, causing FANCY A BOHERNA, which was racing to its outside to also race wide.  Approaching the top turn, ANGELS ARE REAL was tightened for racing room and lost ground as a result.  DRIVES ME CRAZY and MINNIE BLUE raced wide through the turn into the front straight, and for the remainder of the race thereafter.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, SIN CITY KITTY shifted out and improved onto the rear of FANCY A BOHERNA, causing both greyhounds to lose substantial ground as a consequence.

 

Stewards’ questioned licensed trainer, Ms A Donnelly, in relation to the performance of the greyhound ANGELS ARE REAL, and in particular when jumping from the boxes.  Stewards’ noted that the greyhound had been slow from the boxes on its previous two starts, and advised Ms Donnelly that the greyhound would need to undertake further training to improve its box manner, or face the prospect of performing a stewards’ trial in the near future.

 

The greyhound FANCY A BOHERNA underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side hip and was stood down for a period of 7 days

SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 431M

NOT TOO BOSSY, QUEEN WERINA, NOIRE DREAM and FIVE FORTY checked immediately after the start.  Approaching the 1st turn, NOT TOO BOSSY improved onto the heels of CALJAX, causing both greyhounds to stumble and lose ground.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, NOIRE DREAM was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn, CALJAX commenced to yield ground and took no further competitive part in the race thereafter.  At the top turn, QUEEN WERINA and ASPEN VALLEY checked and lost ground.  FROSTY BLACK JAY, which was trailing, was momentarily impeded and shifted wide as a result.

 

The greyhound CALJAX underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hock and was stood down for a period of 21 days

EL DOUBLE ONE and JAKEY BOY were both best to begin.  SHAKEY TIMES and MONTRACHET were marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, SHAKEY TIMES, MY GIRL YESSAM and RAIN ALERT raced tight and checked, causing all to lose ground, especially SHAKEY TIMES, which lost considerable ground.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, RAIN ALERT checked off heels and lost ground.  JAKEY BOY, which was trailing, was inconvenienced and lost ground as a result.  Leaving the turn into the home straight, SHAKEY TIMES shifted out and severely checked off the heels of JAKEY BOY, losing significant ground as a result.

 

The greyhound SHAKEY TIMES underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

ALPHA 390 FINANCE NPW – 431M

JOHN’S CHOICE was best to begin, BRASS ROAD was marginally slow.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, GALWAY EAGLE, SPRING SAL and SPRING COLLEEN raced tight and checked, causing GALWAY EAGLE and SPRING SAL to lose ground as a consequence.  GALWAY ALICE raced wide through the top turn.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, GALWAY EAGLE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground as a result. 

 

The greyhound GALWAY EAGLE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off fore flexor and was stood down for a period of 14 days

WILLY TOULA was best to begin, with VIENNA CALLING marginally slow.  FULL OF TRICKS, BLACKED OUT and VIENNA CALLING raced tight and checked at the 1st turn, with all losing ground to varying degrees.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, VIENNA CALLING checked off heels and lost substantial ground as a consequence.  WILLY TOULA and ADHARA GOLD raced tight and checked at the top turn, with ADHARA GOLD shifting out as a result.  HAZE PURPLE, which was trailing, collided into ADHARA GOLD and lost significant ground as a result.   Approaching the turn into the front straight, HAZE PURPLE and ROSEDUE BARISTA checked, causing both greyhounds to lose ground. 

The greyhound VIENNA CALLING underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near hock and was stood down for a period of 21 days

KAYPAT LODGE

HEY HEY HAYLEY was best to begin.  TOPAZ TAN, CELS EXPRESS and FARMOR IN TUNE were all slow.  Shortly after the start, CELS EXPRESS commenced to yield ground and took no further competitive part in the race thereafter.  MADAM LOOPSY and HEY HEY HAYLEY raced tight and checked at the 1st turn, KEAVY, which was trailing, was tightened for racing room and lost ground as a consequence.  At the same time, NATTY’S ON FIRE and FARMOR IN TUNE raced tight and bumped.  At the top turn, HEY HEY HAYLEY was hampered and lost momentum.  Leaving the top turn, KEAVY checked off heels and lost ground.  KEAVY and HEY HEY HAYLEY checked just prior to the finish.

 

Stewards’ spoke with licensed trainer, Mr B Caden, in relation to the performance of his greyhound NATTY’S ON FIRE.  Mr Caden explained that the greyhound needs to be on the lure to perform best in its races, and in his opinion the greyhound will perform better over the longer distances, in which he will be entering the greyhound in the near future.

 

Stewards’ spoke with licensed trainer, Mr S Scott, in regards to the performance of the greyhound, FARMOR IN TUNE.  Mr Scott explained that the greyhound performs much better from the inside boxes, and the fact that is was drawn out wide today, gave him no confidence in the performance of the greyhound and it performed accordingly.  

 

The greyhound MADAM LOOPSY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound NATTY’S ON FIRE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. .

 

The greyhound FARMOR IN TUNE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound CELS EXPRESS underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the stomach muscles and was stood down for a period of 28 days

INNER WISDOM was best to begin, ASTIN’S WARRIOR and IRISH SPICE were both marginally slow. The majority of the field, came together and checked at the 1st turn, with IRISH SPICE and FERNVALE RUBY losing substantial ground as a result.  Shortly after, FERNVALE RUBY commenced to yield ground and took no further competitive part in the race thereafter.  VALKYRIE BLUE raced wide from the back straight, and for the remainder of the race thereafter.

 

The greyhound DU HAST underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound FERNVALE RUBY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 28 days

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

ROAD CAM was best to begin, with VELOCITY RADINKA slow.  SWEET KARMAR checked off heels at the 1st turn and lost ground as a result.  Approaching the top turn, VOLKEY was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  BARNEY BE GOOD and INNAMINCKA raced tight through the turn into the front straight, causing INNAMINCKA to stumble and become unbalanced.

RAINBOW RUBY and SPRING REINA were both best to begin, with MONDELLA and NEXT marginally slow.  At the 1st turn, SAIL SURFER checked with SPORTFAN losing significant ground as a result.  Shortly after, LORD LACHLAN commenced to yield ground and took no further part in the race thereafter.  SPRING REINA raced wide in the back straight.  ORPHAN ANNIE checked off heels approaching the top turn.  MONDELLA was impeded approaching the turn into the front straight and shifted wide as a result.

 

The greyhound LORD LACHLAN underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off hip and was stood down for a period of 14 days

 

Stewards’ advised trainer, Mr Gary Keep, that the greyhound, LORD LACHLAN, would be charged under Rule 69 B, Failing to Pursue with an Injury, 14 days and must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial, 431m all tracks.

CITY COUNTRY FOOD SERVICE 5TH GRADE (4) – 431M

GOOD GOLLY OLLY was best to begin, SPRING IVAN was marginally slow.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, DODGY ETHAN was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Shortly after, SURF BOARD checked off heels and lost ground.  SURFBOARD and AILLA bumped leaving the turn into the front straight.
