MAIDEN HEAT 1 – 520M EL
BAZZA was slow to begin. Approaching
the first turn, EL BAZZA was tightened for room and checked. Entering the first turn, EYE LIKE CAKE was
clipped on the hindquarters, fell and took no further competitive part in the
event. At the same time, STORM POWER
and TAHBILK bumped on a number of occasions and were hampered as a consequence. Leaving the turn into the back straight, EL
BAZZA was tightened for room and checked.
Entering the turn out of the back straight, TAHBILK and LALLYBROCH
were tightened for room and checked.
STORM POWER raced wide for the majority of the event. The
greyhound EYE LIKE CAKE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no
apparent injuries were found. |

SKY RACING
MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 520M At the start,
NEVER, EYE HATE CAKE, OUTBACK MANDRAKE and EARTH SHAKE were all tightened for
room and checked to varying degrees. Shortly
after the start, NITRO NORMA checked off heels. Entering the first turn, EYE HATE CAKE
checked off heels. RING HIM and EARTH
SHAKE, which were racing to that runner’s outside were taken wider on the turn
and lost ground as a consequence.
EARTH SHAKE raced wide for a majority of the event. |

NOVICE – 431m BROKEN YOLK,
LET’S WIN BILLY and SMILING BLONDE all collided shortly after the start, and
were checked as a consequence.
Entering the first turn, SMILING BLONDE was bumped by another runner
and checked. Entering the back
straight, FAKE NEWS was bumped by another runner and momentarily
hampered. Entering the turn out of the
back straight, FIVE GALLON HAT checked off heels. Approaching the turn into the front
straight, FAKE NEWS was tightened for room and momentarily hampered. |

KAYPAT LODGE
GRADE 5 (1) – 431M Entering
the first turn, BULLSEYE DOUBT, COUNT WERINA, ENJOY THE SHOW and SMOKEY
WISHES were all tightened for room and checked to varying degrees as a
consequence. Through the first turn, BULLSEYE DOUBT made contact with the
running rail and lost ground. LEST WE, which was trailing, was severely
checked and lost considerable ground as a consequence. Rounding the turn out of the back straight,
ENJOY THE SHOW was tightened for room and momentarily hampered. The
greyhound BULLSEYE DOUBT underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no
apparent injuries were found. When
questioned on the seemingly improved performance, kennel representative Mr R.
Kuhl advised stewards’ that SUMURAI PIZZACAT had trialled well on several
occasions in the lead up to today’s event, and expected a forward showing. |

MIXED 4/5 – 431M WILDASH TOM, INDIAN GIVER and BLUE LEMONADE were all tightened for room
and checked. Rounding the turn into
the back straight, ZINCHENKO checked outwards across heels. Entering the back straight, BLUE LEMONDAE
improved onto the heels of another runner, fell and took no further
competitive part in the event.
Rounding the turn into the home straight, CAKE IT ON and SNOWBALL OTTO
collided, and were checked as a consequence.
ZINCHENKO raced wide for the majority of the event. The greyhound BLUE LEMONADE underwent a post-race veterinary
examination and no apparent injuries were found. |

STERNBERG VET SURGEON 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 – 520M At the start, EMPIRE REIGN, BIG HUEY and ROUGH ODDS
collided, resulting in EMPIRE REIGN to be momentarily hampered, and BIG HUEY
and ROUGH ODDS to be severely checked and lose considerable ground. Rounding the turn into the back straight,
EMPIRE REIGN was tightened for room and was checked. Leaving the back straight, VELOCITY LINDER
was tightened for room and checked. The greyhound VELOCITY LINDER underwent a post-race
veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near-side
hip support and was stood down for a period of 21 days. |

5TH GRADE HEAT 2 – 520M CLICK COWAN
was slow to begin. At the start,
PRATER’S SAINT was tightened for room and momentarily hampered. Entering the first turn, CRACKERJACK RUBY
and SURFBOARD collided, resulting in both runners to be checked. CLICK COWAN, which was trailing, checked
out to avoid those runners’ heels.
PRATER’S SAINT, which was also trailing, improved onto the
hindquarters of SURFBOARD, resulting in both runners to be severely
checked. PRATER’S SAINT took no
further competitive part in the event as a result of this incident. The greyhound
PRATER’S SAINT underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to
have sustained an injury to the off side back muscle and was stood down for a
period of 6 weeks. |

GUNS OPEN FINAL – 520M BROTHER DESY,
GIVE IT SOME and ALPHA ULYSSES were tightened for room shortly after the
start and momentarily hampered.
Approaching the first turn, PASSION BONUS checked off heels. Shortly after, DOUBLE CHIP was tightened
for room and checked. Entering the first
turn, GIVE IT SOME and ALPH ULYSSES bumped, resulting in both runners to be
hampered. Approaching the turn into
the back straight, DOUBLE CHIP checked off heels. Rounding the turn out of the back straight,
GIVE IT SOME was tightened for room and checked. The greyhound
GIVE IT SOME underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent
injuries were found. |
