Race Reports

 

Race 1 – GREYHOUND ADOPTION PROGRAM MAIDEN HEAT 1 – 431M

 

SILVER LUX and ROSIE GAZE were marginally slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn, ROSE GAZE, LADYLIKE GRACE and IVY’S BOUQUET received interference and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, STORM POWER shifted out which hampered the running of SPRING PHOENIX.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, IVY’S BOUQUET shifted out, which checked the running of SPRING PHOENIX.  LADYLIKE GRACE, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground. 

 

The greyhound SPRING PHOENXI underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 2 – SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 431M

 

Through the 1st turn, GOTCHA GIFT and VALDA THE VIKING collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  MADE ELLY DEE, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground. 

 

Race 3 – WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM MAIDEN FINAL – 431M

 

Shortly after the start, EARTH SHAKE and CHANCE ME BRO collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Through the 1st turn, ALPHA HESTIA and TUTA SINGLE ONE collide, resulting in TUTA SINGLE ONE to be checked and to lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, EMMA SAID and RUSSIAN ROULETTE collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  EARTH SHAKE raced wide over various stages of the race.  Rounding the turn into the front straight, FROSTY BLACK JAY and EARTH SHAKE collide.

 

The greyhound EARTH SHAKE underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side wrist and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 4 – ALPHA 390 FINANCE NOVICE (1) – 431M

 

ROSEY’S LASS was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, PATCHE DE KAHN, GOLDEN STORM and MY BOUQUET received interference and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, GOLDEN STORM was tightened for racing room, checked, shifted out and collided with MY BOUQUET, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  GOLDEN STORM commenced to give ground in the back straight, to eventually retire from the event.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, ROYAL PLAY and HARDLY NORMAL collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  ROSEY’S LASS, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  ROYAL PLAY shifted out and raced wide into the front straight.  In the front straight, during the run to the finish, ROYAL PLAY and HARDLY NORMAL collide. 

 

The greyhound GOLDEN STORM underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side hock and was humanely euthanised.

 

Race 5 - WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM NOVICE (2) – 431M

 

ROSDUE GYPSY was tightened for racing room shortly after the start and lost ground.  Shortly after, DAVE THE RAVE, EARLY SETTLER, PRINCESS WERINA and SIENNA’S BOY all received interference. Through the 1st turn, DAVE THE RAVE, EARLY SETTLER, PRINCESS WERINA and SIENNA’S BOY all received interference and lost ground.  Entering the back straight, DAVE THE RAVE shifted out, checked the running of SIENNA’S BOY and lost ground.  EARLY SETTLER, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  DAVE THE RAVE raced wide over various stages of the race.  Leaving the back straight, PRINCESS WERINA received interference, checked, fell and took no further part in the event. 

 

The greyhound PRINCESS WERINA underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 6 – KAYPAT LODGE 5TH GRADE (1) – 431M

NO LAYING BACK, GRETA’S GIFT and SPRING IVAN were all marginally slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn, STAR RISE, REACTOR and SPRING IVAN all received interference and lost ground.

WILBY AWESOME slipped on the mat shortly after the start and lost ground.  Leaving the front straight, CHIPPIES, GOT THERE and BELLA CETTE all received interference and lost ground, with GOT THERE and BELLA CETTE losing considerable ground.

 

When questioned over the performance of MACQUIRE, trainer Mr G Kennedy was at a loss to explain the greyhound’s performance and stated that normally the greyhound finishes well where in today’s race it gave ground over the concluding stages.  He stated that its previous start at Rockhampton on 1st August, 2018, the greyhound did suffer some interference, which he may now need further investigation.  He further stated that it would be his intention to have blood works taken from MACQUIRE  and examined, prior to racing again. With this undertaking, stewards’ noted his explanation. 

 

The greyhound MACQUIRE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Race 8 – GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON MIXED 3/4TH GRADE – 431M

 

Shortly after the start, LIGHTNING WHITE was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the back straight, GUY FAWKES received interference and lost ground.  

 

Race 9 - WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM MIXED 4/5TH GRADE – 431M

 

PROPER GENT and HAD BETTER DAZE were both marginally slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn, STRUDEL, SPRING FESTIVAL, BLUMENTRIT and SIRIUS STAR all received interference and lost ground, with SIRIUS STAR losing considerable ground.  Entering the front straight, STRUDEL and SIRIUS STAR collide, resulting in both greyhounds to lose ground.

 

The greyhound BLUMETRIT underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near hind toe nail and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Race 10 – GREYHOUND OF THE YEAR 2006 - GO THE GAUNTLET 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

 

Through the 1st turn, LILY’S BEAN and ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE collide.  At the same time, REAL JAZZ and COUNT WERINA collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked.  ROSDUE MISTY, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE received interference and lost ground.  In the back straight, REAL JAZZ shifted in, and checked the running of LILY’S BEAN, resulting in that greyhound to lose ground.  Leaving the back straight, ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE and SPRING IVY received interference and lost ground.
