General

Stewards spoke to trainer Justin Bowe regarding the scratching of Captivate in race 8, which saw Narkunda second reserve for the event trained by Gerard Bowe a family member obtain a start from box 1.  Mr Bowe stated that the greyhound had suffered an injury to its back muscle late last week and scratched the dog at the earliest possible time.  A Pre-race sample was taken from Narkunda and a veterinary inspection by a QRIC veterinary of Captivate will be carried out to confirm the injury.

Race 1 - TAB VENUE MODE MAIDEN (1) 431m

1 My Ace – Brushed the running rail making the first turn. Shifted wide rounding the home turn. 

2 Farmor Leeway – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

4 Pat's Big Boy – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

8 Burn The Cash – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

Race 2 - SKY RACING MAIDEN (2) 431m

1 Gem's Best - Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Checked in the home straight and lost ground.

2 My Lassie – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

3 Farmor Legacy - Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

4 Jesse's Burner – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

5 Hara's Johnny – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

1 Slick Ram – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

2 Bahama Boy – Slow to begin. Checked on the turn after the back straight and lost ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities.

3 Smooth As Sleek – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

7 Whispering Abbey – Checked on the turn after the back straight and lost ground.

10 Diva Signal (6) – Late scratching, TAB advised at 9:32am.

Race 4 – DOVER & SONS NOVICE (1) 431m

2 Sirius Zoe – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

3 Shian Ricky – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the offside hind toe and was stood down from racing for 90 days. Shian Ricky must also complete a satisfactory trial prior to resuming racing. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Injury Review Panel.

5 Operation Man – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Checked in the back straight and lost ground.

6 First Dance – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Checked on entering the home straight and lost ground.

7 Farmor Left – Checked in the back straight and lost ground.

Race 5 – GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS NOVICE (2) 431m

1 Orson Utzon – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Checked on entering the back straight. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

2 Nothing Matters – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

4 Amira – Checked on the first turn and lost ground. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

6 White Claw – Late scratching, TAB advised at 12:48pm.

2 Make Noise – Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground.

4 This Time Sara - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground.

5 Spot On Albert - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

6 Bogie Gale – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer R. Ayre regarding the racing manners of Bogie Gale. After viewing all available replay footage and hearing submissions from Mr. Ayre, Stewards determined that the greyhound did turn its head outwards and make muzzle contact with another runner in the home straight, subsequently Stewards charged the greyhound under GAR123 Marring and Bogie Gale will be stood down from racing for 28 days at Ipswich and must complete a satisfactory trial prior to resuming racing.

Race 8 - QGOLD FINAL GRADE 5 520m

3 Ayrton - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

4 Pebble's Girl - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked in the home straight.

5 Brimstone - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Shifted in and checked another runner in the home straight.

6 Live Stream - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground.

7 Spot On Lads - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

8 Another Chance - Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground.

10 Narkunda (1) – Checked on entering the first turn and lost ground. Checked on the turn after the back straight.

Race 9 - GARRARD'S HORSE & HOUND MIXED 4/5 520m

4 Silk – Appeared to sustain an injury at the end of the back straight and took no further competitive part in the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed split webbing to the nearside hind foot and was stood down from racing for 14 days.

Race 10 – GJ WALSH & CO MIXED 4/5 431m

3 Big Apatite – Checked on the first turn and lost ground.

4 Jack Spot – Raced wide throughout.

Race 11 – TAB GRADE 5 (1) 431m
