5 Pawa Meri – Turned its head inwards taking its attention away from the lure shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr R Ayres regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event, after reviewing the video replay and hearing the submissions from Mr R Ayres, stewards deemed Pawa Meri had taken its attention away from the lure therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Pawa Meri was suspended from racing at Ipswich for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.
8 Pied Art – Turned its head outwards and made muzzle contact with another runner in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr R Ayres regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at that stage of the event, after hearing the steward’s observation, reviewing the video replay and the trainers’ submissions, stewards deemed that Pied Art did make muzzle contact with the greyhound to its outside and therefore invoked GAR 123 Marring. As this was the greyhound’s 2nd offence under this rule Pied Art was suspended from racing at all tracks for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next. |

6 Play Gambler – Checked in the first turn. Checked in the back straight. Checked rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have sustained an injury to the offside hip and was subsequently stood down for 10 days. |

1 Brandy Balloon – Faulted in its action approaching the top turn and commenced to give ground. Tailed the field for the remainder of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have sustained an injury to the near side wrist and was subsequently stood down for 28 days. Further, the greyhound will be required to complete a satisfactory veterinary trial prior to returning to racing. |
