General:

 

Licensed trainer Mr M Edwards entered a plea of guilty and was fined the sum of $250.00 in respect of a charge issued pursuant to Greyhounds Australasia Rule 156(f)(ii),

for using inappropriate language in the kennelling area prior to the running of race 5, which in the opinion of the Stewards, constitutes misconduct.

Race 1 - TAB VENUE MODE MAIDEN 2 520m

 

1 Petite Gal- Faltered leaving the back straight and commenced to weaken. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormalities.   

 

3 Sleek Karma- Unable to obtain pre-race sample. A post-race urine sample was taken for analysis.

 

2 Stitched Up Jack- Eased and turned its head inwards in the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr M Geraghty regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event. After reviewing the video replay and hearing the submissions from Mr Geraghty, stewards deemed Stitched Up Jack had taken its attention away from the lure therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Stitched Up Jack was suspended from racing at Ipswich for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.

 

Race 2 - SKY RACING NOVICE 2 520m

 

No significant racing incidents.

 

Race 3 - WWW.IPSWICHGREYHOUNDS.COM MA5 2 520m

 

3 Saddle Bronc- Eased entering the turn out of the back straight. Turned its head outwards rounding the turn into the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the near hind leg and was stood down for a period of 10 days. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr P Young regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event. After reviewing the video replay and hearing the submissions from Mr Young, stewards deemed Saddle Bronc had taken its attention away from the lure and therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. Saddle Bronc was suspended from racing at all tracks for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.

 

Race 4 - DOVER & SONS MIXED 4/5 2 520m

 

4 Johny No Ice- Turned its head outwards rounding the turn into the home straight. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr N Evans regarding the greyhound’s actions at that stage of the event. After reviewing the video replay and hearing the submissions from Mr Evans, stewards deemed Johny No Ice turned its head, taking its attention away from the lure and therefore invoked GAR 124 Failing to Pursue. Johny No Ice was suspended from racing at all tracks for 28 days and until the successful completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial.

 

5 Bye Bye Swiper- Marred another runner entering the home straight. Stewards spoke to the trainers representative Mr B Dargusch regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at that stage of the event. After hearing the steward’s observation, reviewing the video replay and Mr Dargusch’s submissions, stewards deemed that Bye Bye Swiper did make head contact with the greyhound to its outside therefore invoked GAR 123 Marring. Bye Bye Swiper was suspended from racing at Ipswich for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

 

Race 5 - GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS 5PW 2 520m

 

1 Need A Moment- Severely checked entering the first turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed an injury to the hip support muscles and was stood down from racing for a period of 7 days.

 

Race 6 - ROSEWOOD VETERINARY SERVICE 0-3 WINS 3 630m

 

8 Red Yogi- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards noted the comments of trainer Ms Clelland, in that it was Red Yogi’s first start over this increased distance and with the track rating of slow, his performance was severely impacted. Ms Clelland will assess the greyhound’s recovery before considering whether to pursue further racing over this distance. No further action was taken.  

 

Race 7 - WEST MORETON PET FOODS MIXED 4/5 2 431m

 

No significant racing incidents.

 

Race 8 - GOLDEN VIEW GREYHOUND COMPLEX GRADE 5 (1) 2 431m

 

No significant racing incidents.

 

Race 9 -JUST GREYHOUND PHOTOS GRADE 5 (2) 2 431m

 

This race was conducted as finish on lure due to a fallen greyhound.

 

6 Duke Of Bob- Severely checked in the first turn causing the greyhound to fall and take no further part in the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which did not reveal any abnormalities.
