8 Hilltop Prince – Turned its head inwards towards another runner rounding the home turn. Turned its head outwards and made muzzle contact with another runner in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have post-race dehydration and was subsequently stood down for 3 days. Stewards spoke to trainer C Graham regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at those stages of the event. After reviewing the video replay and considering the trainers’ submissions, stewards deemed that Hilltop Prince did make muzzle contact with the greyhound to its outside and therefore invoked GAR 123 Marring. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule Hilltop Prince was suspended from racing at Ipswich for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

Race 6 - IPSWICH DERBY HEAT 2 OPEN 2 520m

3 Villain Of Magic – Turned its head to the inside taking its attention away from the lure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the greyhound to have sustained an injury to the offside hip and was subsequently stood down for 14 days. Stewards spoke to Trainer K Hoggan regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125(a), failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury) Villain Of Magic must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 127(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
