General: Prior to kennelling start time stewards took a delegation of trainers on a track walk to discuss the track conditions due to inclement weather and the suitability for racing, it was unanimously decided that the track surface was deemed suitable, and the track & weather would be monitored continuously during the meeting.

Race 1 - SKY RACING MAIDEN 407m

2 Target Girl – In the front straight shifted out marring the runner to its outside. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Andrew Wooler regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at that stage of the event, after hearing the steward’s observation, reviewing the video replay and the trainers’ submissions, stewards deemed that Target Girl did make head contact with the greyhound to its outside therefore invoked GAR 123 Marring. As this was the greyhound’s 1st offence under this rule it was suspended from racing at Rockhampton for 28 days and until the completion of a satisfactory steward’s trial prior to racing next.

3 Mia Jet – Marred by runner in the front straight.

4 Eagleburger – Checked and disadvantaged in the back straight. A veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

8 Sonny Be Swift – Checked in the front straight.

Race 2 – TAB NOVICE 407m

4 Monaco Sun – Checked in the back straight.

6 Moonlit Mandy – Checked around the first turn. Slipped and gave ground in the back straight. A veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

8 Canya Revamp – Slow to begin. Checked in the back straight.

Race 3 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND MIXED 4/5 407m

4 Easy Eddie – Took an awkward stride and gave ground around the second turn. A veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

6 Sketchy Deliver – Checked shortly after the start.

7 Phoenix Luck – Slow to begin.

Race 4 – ROCKY FEED & SEED GRADE 4 (1) 407m

· Prior to the running of the race stewards walked the track to ensure surface was still safe for racing, and deemed the track as suitable

1 Spring Aster – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start.

Race 5 - WENDY MULRY TRAVEL GRADE 4 (2) 407m

· Nothing significant to report

Race 6 - DIPLOCK'S COLLISION REPAIR CENTRE BEST 8 407m

4 Creme De Monte – Checked around the first turn.

5 Five Putt Cal – Checked around the first turn. Lost footing in the back straight.

Race 7 - NEWSXPRESS RICHARDSON ROAD FFA 510m

4 Velocity Tamika – Checked off the heels and lost footing nearing the second turn.

· Following the conclusion of this race, and the rainfall progressively intensifying, stewards moved the remainder of the meeting back by one race to properly examine the current track conditions and suitability to continue racing. Stewards deemed that due to large volumes of water pooling along the front and back straights and not sufficiently draining and the deterioration of the track surface, stewards in consultation with the track curator made the decision that the track was unsafe to continue racing and the remainder of the meeting was abandoned.
