Rockhampton meeting 26/07/2023

The day after the meeting Trainer D Beckett reported that Be Like Oliver was found to have a torn back muscle. The original determination on the night of the race was cramping and as such a stand down period of 28 has now been issued and the greyhound must complete a satisfactory veterinary clearance trial.

 

Race 1 -SKY RACING MAIDEN 407m

Cascade Girl – (Beaten favourite) Severely checked around the first turn. Checked wide around the home turn. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Little Hercules – Checked around the first turn. Checked and unbalanced racing into the home straight.     A post-race veterinary examination revealed a lumbar back strain and contusions on the right foreleg and a 10 day stand down was issued.

 

Gilded – Severely checked around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Yogi’s Baby – Severely checked around the first turn. Checked racing off the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 2 -GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND NOVICE 407m

Too Much Scotch – (Beaten favourite) Raced very wide over the final 300m.

 

Monaco Sun – Slow to begin. Severely checked racing off the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 3 -TAB GRADE 5 (1) 407m

Nanny’s Magic – Appeared to shorten stride racing off the back straight and then tired noticeably. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. After speaking with trainer L Wisener, stewards deemed the performance of Nanny’s Magic to be unsatisfactory and under GAR 129(a) the greyhound was stood down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial.

 

Bear Blaster – Severely checked around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a muscle tear to the left shoulder and a 14 day stand down was issued.

 

Bar One Smokers – (Beaten favourite) Slow to begin. Checked around the first turn.

 

 

Race 4 -ROCKY FEED & SEED MIXED 4/5 407m

No matters of concern to the stewards.

 

Race 5 - WENDY MULRY TRAVEL GRADE 4 407m

Licensed handler Jordan Taylor was fined $100 under GAR 156(f)(ii) for negligently presenting More Peaches to race wearing the incorrect numbered rug.

 

Balt’s Flying – Faltered stride racing into the first turn and then trailed the field by a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a left shoulder tear and a 14 day stand down was issued.

Race 6 - DIPLOCK'S COLLISION REPAIR CENTRE MIXED 3/4 407m

Mini Star – (Beaten favourite) Tightened and checked around the first turn. Checked in the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 7 -NEWSXPRESS RICHARDSON ROAD BEST 8 407m

No matters of concern to the stewards.

 

Race 8 -DINKY DI WEB DESIGN 4/5 GRADE FINAL MIXED 4/5 510m 

Semiyon – Checked and dragged down racing around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 9 - ROCKY FEED & SEED GRADE 5 (2) 407m

Summer Weeds – (Beaten favourite) Raced wide throughout to be beaten narrowly into second placing.

 

Race 10 -SKY RACING GRADE 5 (3) 407m

Grand Riku – (Beaten favourite) Tightened and checked around the first turn.

Moonlit Dior – Slow to begin. Severely checked racing off the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor contusions to the left foreleg with no stand down issued. 

Race 11 -GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND GRADE 5 (4) 407m

Swerve – (Beaten favourite) Checked around the first turn then finished strongly to be beaten narrowly into fifth placing.

Race 12 -TAB MA5 407m

Angel Harks – (Beaten favourite) Checked noticeably around the first turn before finishing strongly to be beaten into second placing.

Mellcat Red – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right hind foot and a 7 day stand down was issued.
