Due to the ambient temperature stewards implemented measures to counteract the potential for heat stress in greyhounds competing.
Due to an unforeseen delay in kennelling all races times were put back one race with race 12 re-scheduled for 10.33pm.

|

Sweet Zandra – (second favourite 7th) Slow to begin. Bumped and checked racing off the back straight. Gave ground over the final 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer D Beckett advised that having not race for 21 days resulted in the greyhound lacking race fitness and Sweet Zandra would likely derive benefit from todays race. |

Showtime Bart – Severely checked and fell racing around the first turn before regaining footing and completing the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. |

Who’s Billy – (beaten favourite 5th) Slow to begin. Checked soon after the start. Checked around the first turn. Checked racing into the back straight.

White Like Snow – Faltered racing to the winning post on the first occasion and took no further part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a hamstring strain to the right hind and a 14 day stand down was issued.

The start of this race was delayed whilst waiting for an international race which was running behind schedule.
Prior to all clear, stewards viewed the available replays in relation to the lure distance in front of the lead greyhound racing off the back straight. Stewards were satisfied that despite the lure being closer than usual, this had no material impact on any runner and all clear was given. |

More Scope – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards inquired into the actions of the greyhound in the home straight, in particular the outward movement towards Burner Express. After considering submissions from trainer A Suli, stewards own observations and the available replays, stewards were satisfied that More Scope had marred the running of Burner Express by shifting out and making head and muzzle contact in the home straight. As this was the greyhounds first offence under GAR123 it has been stood down at Rockhampton for 28 days and must complete a satisfactory trial. |
