Race 3 - TAB NOVICE 407m

Blake’s John – Checked around the first turn and appeared short in its action thereafter. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hip support strain and a 10 day stand down was issued.

Underestimated – Checked around the first turn. Checked racing off the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards inquired into the greyhound’s actions close to the finish where Underestimated eased quickly. After considering their own observations, the available replays and submission from trainer J Thompson, stewards were satisfied that Underestimated had failed to pursue the lure with due commitment by easing prior to the finish and under GAR124 the greyhound was stood down for 28 days and must complete a satisfactory trial for a first offence.

Race 4 - SKY RACING GRADE 5 (1) 407m

Handler K Read was reprimanded under GAR156(f)(ii) for negligently presenting Key Piece with the incorrect numbered rug. In assessing penalty stewards considered the handlers guilty plea and 45-year clear record.

Johnny Fernando – Severely checked and fell around the first turn before regaining footing and completing the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor abrasions and no stand down was issued.
