Stewards inquired into the conduct of licensed trainer Michael Boody in the kennel area prior to the running of race seven at the Rockhampton Greyhound Racing Club meeting on 6 June 2024. After considering evidence provided by four witnesses, Mr Boody was charged and found guilty of a breach of GAR156(f)(ii) for misconduct, in that when retrieving the greyhound Composed from the kennels for pre-race swabbing prior to race seven, he used foul and offensive language in the kennel bay. After considering Mr Boody’s submissions on penalty, his prior clear offence record, 48 years as a trainer and his not guilty plea, stewards imposed a fine of $500 with $250 to be wholly suspended for a period of 12 months on the proviso that he does not reoffend under the conduct rules in that period of time.

Race 1 - WENDY MULRY TRAVEL MAIDEN (1) 407m

The all clear for this race was delayed allowing stewards to view the replays in relation to the lure run up prior to the start. Upon review of the replays and acting on their own observations of the race it was evident that the lure run up speed was faster than usual, however stewards could not be satisfied that this had a definitive impact on runners gaining a fair start and all clear was given. The lure driver was reminded of his requirements in relation to consistent lure speeds leading up to the start of races.

Lukewarm – Checked in the back straight. Checked and dragged down from behind racing out of the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 2 - NEWSXPRESS RICHARDSON ROAD MAIDEN (2) 407m

Onslow Beach – Severely checked around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed thoracic soreness and a 10 day stand down was issued.

Get ‘Em Bud - Severely checked around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hip strain and a 10 day stand down was issued.

Race 3 - GARRARD'S HORSE AND HOUND NOVICE 407m

Winnie Jade – (Beaten favourite 7^th) Checked racing off the back straight. Checked approaching the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Race 4 - SKY RACING 5TH GRADE HEAT 1 GRADE 5 407m

Race 5 - DINKY DI WEB DESIGN 5TH GRADE HEAT 2 GRADE 5 407m

Where’s My Beer – (Beaten favourite 4^th) Checked around the first turn.

Race 7 – TAB MIXED 3/4 407m

Buckaroo – (Beaten favourite 6^th) Severely checked racing off the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

Durham – Faltered in its action rounding the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hip muscle tear and a 21 day stand down was issued.

Circle The Sea – Faltered in its stride in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a right hip support strain and a 10 day stand down was issued.
