General: Due to the extreme temperature, kennels were opened 50 minutes prior to advertised kennelling time. Ice water stations were strategically placed throughout the complex and trackside in the event any greyhounds displayed any heat related symptoms.
Trainer W Boon advised of a mechanical breakdown in his vehicle transporting runners to tonight’s meeting and as a result late scratching’s were declared at 4.45pm for the following greyhounds, R2 N2 Validated, R3 N7 Velocity Cazau, R4 N1 Legal Result, R10 N2 Rowdy, R11 N 7 Velocity Kirrily and R12 N4 Velocity Risk. All greyhounds have been stood down for 10 days pending receipt of a confirmatory mechanics report at which point the stand down period can be removed.
Race 3 – Burn out was a late scratching at 4.50pm due to illness when presented at kennelling. The greyhound has been stood down from racing for 10 days. |

Loveless – Led and then yielded ground over the final 200m, underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no apparent abnormalities. |

Waikare Venom – Checked soon after the start. Severely checked around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. |

Nakisha – Severely checked and fell around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed sprains to both front wrists and a 10 day stand down was issued.

Sweet Ethics – Checked noticeably around the first turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a back strain and 5 day stand down was issued.

Pelorus – Appeared to baulk and ease on a number of occasions in the run to the finish. Stewards inquired into the actions of the greyhound in the home straight. After considering submissions from trainer J Thompson, stewards were satisfied that Pelorus had eased and lost ground on no less than two occasions over the final 80m and therefore invoked the provisions of GAR124(1) for failing to pursue with due commitment. Pelorus has been stood down from racing for 28 days at Rockhampton and until the completion of a satisfactory trial.
Mendacious – Checked around the first turn. Checked in the back straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a left hip / pelvic injury and a 60 day stand down was issued and the greyhound must complete a veterinary clearance.
