RACE REPORTS

 

1.

ROBERT OLSEN MEMORIAL MAIDEN 380M

THANE’S PICK was marginally slow to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, SPILL THE BEER was tightened for racing room and momentarily hampered.  MARKY SHARKY which was trailing, was hampered as a consequence.  MARKY SHARKY raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the front straight. THANE’S PICK raced wide for the majority.

ANGLISS MEATS TOWNSVILLE NOVICE 380M

Even start.  In the back straight, GO FREDDY GO and LICORICE SHOT were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, KICKING KARMAR was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  POPPY CHOOKIE which was racing to that runner’s outside, and WESTMEAD WARRIOR which was trailing, were both inconvenienced as a consequence.   POPPY CHOOKIE raced wide rounding the turn into the home straight.  Shortly after entering the home straight, KICKING KARMAR improved onto the heels of WESTMEAD WARRIOR, become momentarily unbalanced and lost ground.

STEPHEN SCHUBERT 5TH GRADE (1) 380M

OH MY BLONDE was marginally slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, DOWNTOWN PIXIE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  GOLDENPAW FLYER, which was trailing, was checked as a consequence.  OH MY BLONDE was also momentarily hampered as a result of this incident.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, WAYLON BALE shifted inwards, and collided with RUEBEN LUCKA resulting in RUEBEN LUCKA to be checked and WAYLON BALE to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.

 

GOLDENPAW FLYER underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. The greyhound underwent a second examination and was found to have suffered an injury to the near fore leg and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

PEARL OLSEN 5TH GRADE (2) 380M

NOT A WORD was best to begin.  TRISHA NOLAN and GOOD PEOPLE were marginally slow to begin, with MR. MACGREGOR slow to begin.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, TRAVELLIN’ MAN checked of the heels of another runner and lost ground.  GOOD PEOPLE which was trailing, was severely checked and lost considerable ground as a consequence.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, GAGAN NANCY improved onto the heels of another runner and became severely checked and lost considerable ground.   Rounding the turn into the front straight, GAGAN NANCY turned its head outwards towards ROAD MONSTER and collided with that runner, resulting in both greyhounds to be momentarily hampered.

 

The greyhound GAGAN NANCY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found. Stewards advised trainer Mr Kevin Wheeler that GAGAN NANCY would be stood down pursuant to Rule 69A – Failing to Pursue, 1st Offence, 28 days plus satisfactory stewards’ trial.

GOLDEN VIEW G/H COMPLEX 5TH GRADE 498M

BED OF ROSES and MR. CANNA were slow to begin.  Entering the first turn, FARINGDON was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  LISCOYLE LADY and BED OF ROSES, which were trailing, were hampered as a consequence.  MR. CANNA raced wide for the majority of the event.

DES HEATH MIXED 4/5 GRADE FINAL 380M

Shortly after the start, HARBOUR RAIN and WINNIE’S ROSE bumped, resulting in both runners to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, CALL ME DORY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground. Entering the turn out of the back straight, GO PRANCER GO improved onto the heels of another runner, was checked and lost ground.  Through the turn into the home straight, MISS LARDIE DA was tightened for racing room and momentarily hampered.

BOHLE BARN HOTEL MOTEL MIXED 3/4 380M

Even start.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, ATOMIC OPIE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the back straight, MAURY SPIRIT was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  LOTS OF TIME which was trailing, was hampered as a consequence.  CHIPS AHOY, which was racing to the outside was also inconvenienced as a result of this incident.

 

The greyhound ATOMIC OPIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.  The greyhound underwent a second examination and no apparent injuries were found.

WILLIAM THOMAS MIXED 1/2 380M

SUPERFORMANCE was marginally slow to begin, with GO GAWN slow to begin.  Entering the turn out of the back straight, SUPERFORMANCE was tightened for racing room and momentarily hampered.  Rounding the turn into the front straight, SUPERFORMANCE and INNOCENT MAN bumped on a number of occasions, resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.

CHEAPA AUTO SPARES MIXED 4/5 380M

BOWENVALE and JACOBY RAIDER were marginally slow to begin.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, BOWENVALE shifted across the heels and made contact with the hindquarters of TEMNICK, resulting in that runner to be severely checked and to lose considerable ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, UNIVERSAL ONE improved onto the heels of another runner, was checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn into the home straight, TEMNICK and JACOBY RAIDER bumped on several occasions, resulting in those runners to be hampered.

OREILLY PET FOOD 5PW 380M

ROCKIN’ TONIGHT was marginally slow to begin.  In the back straight, SLATER’S PICK and BLUEFIRE CHALICE collided, resulting in both runners to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, SLATER’S PICK shifted outwards across the heels of another runner, and collided with BLUEFIRE CHALICE, resulting in both runners to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.

 

The greyhound BLUEFIRE CHALICE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.
