TOWNSVILLE GRAND PRIX OPEN HEAT 2 – 498M

The start of the event was delayed due to technical issues with the lure.

Stewards declared the event a “No Race” under the provisions of GAR.56(1) when the lure failed shortly after the turn into the home straight. Stewards also elected to abandon the event under GAR.57(1) in the interest of the welfare of the greyhounds.

Prior to conducting a random ballot draw for the final, stewards acting under the provisions of GAR.57(2)(a) made runners BIMBADGEN MAN, SLOW DANCER and DALMATYNSKI exempt from the draw as it was in their opinion that had the lure not failed those runners would have gained entry into the final. As stewards could not be comfortably satisfied on the resulting positions, the remainder of the field were not exempt and were placed into the ballot for the final positions to continue in the series.

Acting under the provisions of GAR.57(2)(b) stewards conducted a random ballot draw with the remaining runners from the event resulting in LICORICE SHOT gaining entry into the field and BRUTON MISS being drawn as a reserve. Under the provisions of GAR.57(2)(c) stewards ordered that BRUTON MISS be declared the 2nd reserve.
