Race Reports
Race 1 – ANGLISS MEATS TOWNSVILLE | MAIDEN | 380M CURLY’S GIRL was the best to begin. BIG LES and QUEEN OF DOUGH were slow to begin.
TIPPEE RIDDELL improved on to the heels of CURLY’S GIRL causing that greyhound some inconvenience in the back straight.
CURLY’S GIRL and TIPPEE RIDDELL bumped on the turn out of the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing ground.
The greyhound QUEEN OF DOUGH underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 2 – RJ WILEY TRANSPORT | MAIDEN | 380M Even start.
VALENTINE’S JOY checked off FAWN YOGI BLUE and lost considerable ground on the turn out of the back straight.
The greyhound VALENTINE’S JOY underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.
Race 3 – RACHEL & EMILY THOMPSON | NOVICE | 380M Even start with MR. SUGAR DADDY slow to begin.
General tightening occurred on the turn out of the back straight resulting in interference to ALL TOO SILLY, MANILA JET, MR. SUGAR DADDY and SOUTH PAW CIFIC who lost considerable ground. The greyhound SOUTH PAW CIFIC underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near hind muscle and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
ALL TOO SILLY shifted out across the heels of PAINT THE OCEAN and RAISE YOUR GLASS to race wide into the front straight.
Race 4 – AZZTEK RACING | GRADE 5 | 380M WINNIE’S ROSE was the best to begin. HAWKE’S SPECIAL and SUPER STING were slow to begin.
SMOKEY WISHES was tightened for racing room and lost ground approaching the turn out of the back straight.
Race 5 – ASHLYN LA ROSA | MIXED 4/5 | 380M Trainer M. Rajan was fined $50 under the provisions of GAR 39.1 for presenting WILD WISH to race with a weight variation outside the requirements of the Rules of Greyhound Racing. Subsequently WILD WISH was a late scratching from the race.
Even start with ARTS, RHONDA’S BEAR and PASS THE AMMO slow to begin.
BLACK RUSKY checked off the heels of APPREHENSION and lost some ground prior to turning into the front straight.
Race 6 – WONGABEL KENNELS | MIXED 3/4 | 380M Trainer C. Pickard was fined $50 under the provisions of GAR 39.1 for presenting FLAMING MOE to race with a weight variation outside the requirements of the Rules of Greyhound Racing. Subsequently FLAMING MOE was a late scratching from the race.
Even start.
INTENSIFY lost ground shortly after the start.
OUR STAR checked off POPPY CHOOKY and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight. Shortly after POPPY CHOOKY checked off DOCKIN’ DAVE and lost ground.
Race 7 – BARRY BULK HAULAGE | FFA | 498M Trainer J. Newnham was fined $50 under the provisions of GAR 39.1 for presenting DALMATYNSKI to race with a weight variation outside the requirements of the Rules of Greyhound Racing. Subsequently DALMATYNSKI was a late scratching from the race.
Even start with OLD MATE KICK slow to begin.
General tightening occurred on the first turn after the start resulting in OLD MATE KICK and WHITE FERNANDO losing some ground.
NATTY’S ON FIRE was tightened for racing room and lost ground entered the back straight.
The greyhound NATTY’S ON FIRE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off front dew claw and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
Race 8 – A & A INDUSTRAIL CLADDING | BEST 8 | 380M KENNA was the best to begin.
WILLIE HOLDON was tightened for racing room and lost ground in the back straight.
WILLIE HOLDON raced wide into the front straight.
Race 9 – TOWNSVILLE EARTHMOVING | GRADE 5 | 380M SILVER WEASEL and PROCLAIMER were the best to begin. NICMAC JETT and EL BAZZA were slow to begin.
General tightening occurred on the turn out of the back straight resulting in ELSIE JEAN falling. The greyhound ELSIE JEAN underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained bruising to the off hip and was stood down for a period of 10 days.
PROCLAIMER shifted out on the turn into the front straight bumping NICMAC JETT resulting in both greyhounds becoming unbalanced and losing ground.
Race 10 – BURDEKIN VET SERVICES | GRADE 5 | 380M Even start with HEZA CHOP CHOP slow to begin.
CHANDON ELIXIR checked off the hind quarters of GOOD PEOPLE and lost ground after turning out of the back straight causing interference to STRONG ENOUGH.
Race 11 – BOHLE BARN HOTEL MOTEL | SPW | 380M The start of the race was delayed 3 minutes due to overseas racing.
Even start with TIN STAR and MAYWYN OFTEN marginally slow to begin.
MAYWYN OFTEN was tightened for racing room and lost ground in the back straight causing interference to TIN STAR.
SPARKLING SHOGUN was tightened for racing room and lost ground on the turn out of the back straight resulting in interference to WAYLON BALE.
