GENERAL:

Stewards inquired into an incident within the catching pen on 5 May 2020 involving trainer M. Pandelakis, handler S. Essery and trainer K. Griffin.  After hearing evidence it appeared that Mr Essery took exception at the action of a greyhound being handled by Mr Pandelikas showing aggression towards another dog.  Mr Essery used language towards Mr Pandelakis which the Stewards deemed to be bordering on unacceptable.  Mr Essery was reminded of rules of Greyhound racing and the requirements of a licenced person and he was issued with a warning.  Mr Pandelakis was also advised that if there is a problem with the greyhound  it may be advisable to have a catcher at the catching pen to retrieve the greyhound.

1 COOINDA – Checked off another runner as the start was effected.  Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

3 GO GO GROVER – Checked off another runner shortly after the start.

4 GEORGIA PIE – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight. 

8 WHERE’S NATTY –   Slow to begin. Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Race 3 – Burdekin Veterinary Services | Novice | 380m

2 TESTA GIRL – Raced wide in the front straight.

3 FIREMAN GEORGE – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Checked by another runner on the turn into the front straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

5 ALL TOO FUSSED  - Checked by another runner on the turn out of the back straight. 

7 REIGN HAIL SHINE – Jumped awkwardly as the start was effected.  Checked across the hind quarters of another runner on the turn into the front straight.

8 MAN AT ARMS – Checked off heels on the turn out of the back straight.  Checked off another runner after turning out of the back straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

2 TEARS TO GLORY – Inconvenienced by another runner on the turn into the front straight.

3 SPRIGHTLY BRO – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Checked by another runner on the turn into the front straight.

5 CARROW ROAD – Checked off another runner on the turn into the front straight. 

6 YELLOW HEART – Slow to begin.  Shifted out entering the front straight forcing another runner wide.

8 BLISTERING BEAR – Forced wide by another runner entering the front straight.

Trainer G. Thomson was fined $50 under the provisions of GAR 46 for failing to retrieve BILLY BOTTALUCHI from the kennels for the race by the appointed time.

The start of the race was delayed by 1.30 minutes due to interstate harness racing.
