General:

Trainers from the North of Townsville were unable to travel to the meeting due to the highway being closed due to flooding.  Subsequently this resulted in 9 late scratchings from the meeting.

Race 1 - TAB Maiden 380m

3 Miss Empire – Checked from behind by another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Checked across heels on the turn into the front straight.

5 Supido – Checked off heels on the turn out of the back straight.

8 Secret Shades – Checked from behind by another runner on the turn into the front straight.

9 Lake Como (2) – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Shifted out to race wide into the front straight.

Race 2 - Garrards Horse & Hound Novice 380m

1 Crackerjack Joey – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight. 

2 Explosive Charm – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Bumped another runner on the turn into the front straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

3 Blinding Lights – Tightened for racing room approaching the turn out of the back straight.  Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Checked across heel on the turn into the front straight.  Bumped another runner on the turn into the front straight.

7 Squamish – Shifted out and checked across heels to race wide in the front straight.

Race 3 - Angliss Meats Grade 5 (1) 380m

4 Astor – Very slow to begin.

6 Wink At Me – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

10 Broken Halos (1) – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

Race 4 - MPL Refrigeration Grade 5 (2) 380m

Prior to declaring the all clear, Stewards requested the judge to review the 4^th placing displayed on the semaphore board. After reviewing the photo finish, the judge subsequently amended the placings originally semaphored from 2-1-5-3 to the correct placings of 2-1-5-9 and the all-clear was given.

3 Zipping Poh – Bumped another runner entering the front straight.  Checked from behind by another runner over the concluding stages of the race.  Underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

4 Lombardy – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

6 Broken Free – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Bumped another runner entering the front straight.  Checked off heels over the concluding stages of the race.  Stewards questioned the racing manners of the greyhound in particular the front straight.  Subsequently Stewards acting under the provisions of GAR 69A stood Broken Free down from racing for a period of 28 days and the completion of a satisfactory trial for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.

Race 5 - Belford Kennels Mixed 4/5 380m

1 Bubbles And Brie – Slow to begin.  Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

2 Stilton Mary – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

5 Heart's A Mess – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

Race 6 - Talking Point Photography Best 8 380m

1 Rum And Hustle – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Raced wide in the front straight.

2 Sensational – Marginally slow to begin.

3 John Strachin – Shifted out to race wide in the front straight.

4 Mali's Rocket – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Raced wide in the front straight.

5 Murphy Rumble – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

7 Septimo – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

8 Santorini Miss – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Raced wide in the front straight.

Race 7 - Ingham Road Seafoods Grade 5 (1) 498m

3 Reign Hail Shine – Checked off another runner on the turn into the back straight.

5 Copper Canyon – Checked off another runner shortly after the start.

7 Highly Rated – Checked off another runner shortly after the start.

8 Wahroonga Lass – Checked off another runner on the turn into the back straight.  Lost ground in the back straight to finish a distant last.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side hip muscle and was stood down for a period of 28 days a veterinary certificate prior to racing again and the completion of a satisfactory trial.

Race 8 - Stephen & Rhonda Grade 5 (2) 498m

1 Jimary Cricket - Underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

3 Riding Hood – Raced wide in the front straight.

4 Salaam – Raced wide in the front straight.

8 Jimary Runabout – Raced wide in the front straight.

Race 9 - Frost & Spark Electrical Ffa 498m

1 In A Sling – Checked across heels and shifted out bumping another runner on the turn into the back straight.  Lost ground on the turn out of the back straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off-hind muscle and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

8 Cult Hero – Bumped by another runner on the turn into the back straight.

Race 10 - Pug Wash Painting Mixed 3/4 380m

1 Awesome Alex – Slow to begin

3 Samshu – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.

4 Yuken Sunshine – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Raced wide into the front straight

5 Little Red Wagon – Bumped another runner on the turn into the front straight.

8 Shake Up – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.  Bumped another runner on the turn into the front straight.

Race 11 - Premium Glass Fencing Grade 4 380m

1 Firefly Star – Bumped and checked off another runner on the turn into the front straight.  Forced wide by another runner entering the front straight.  Underwent a post-race veterinarian examination and no apparent injuries were found.

2 Mali's Millions – Tightened for racing room in the back straight.  Checked off another runner and shifted out to race wide entering the front straight.

3 Looming Lara – Tightened for racing room in the back straight.

7 Ebony Jay – Bumped and checked from behind by another runner on the turn into the front straight.  Raced wide entering the front straight.

8 Yellow Heart – Checked off another runner on the turn out of the back straight.
