Race Meeting Stewards’ Report

Townsville Greyhounds

Stewards Panel: T. Flymen (Chairperson) and K. Dean

Officials: Dr D. Viero (Veterinarian), A. Boyd (Judge), M. Pandelakis (Starter), M. Braunberger (Samples), J. Bouffler (Lure)

General: Stewards reinspected the track after the running of Race 1 and deemed that the track was safe for racing.

Stewards delayed the All Clear of Race 8 to review the video footage of the race regarding the lure position in the back straight. All reviewing all available footage and acting under their own observations of the race, Stewards deemed that whilst the lure position was inside 5 meters from the leading greyhound, Stewards were comfortably satisfied that no greyhound had been substantially inconvenienced to affect the outcome of the event, therefore All Clear was given on the semaphored numbers.

Race 1 - SHOWTIME LODGE @ CHURCHABLE MAIDEN 380m

4 Miss Von Strudel – Slow to begin.

5 Wally's Boy – Raced wide in the home straight.

6 Tequila Eyes – Faltered in its stride leaving the first turn and took no further competitive part in the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed an injury to the offside hock and was stood down from racing for 28 days. Trainer Carol Pickard was advised that the greyhound must trial prior to racing next. Tequila Eyes was administered pain relief and bandaged by the on-course veterinarian. Tequila Eyes was taken to Burdekin Veterinary Services for further assessment and treatment. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Racing Injury Review Panel.

7 Wahroonga Girl – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

8 Eris Lucy – Forced to race wide rounding the first turn. Raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the remainder of the race.

Race 2 - GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS NOVICE (1) 380m

2 Sonic Blue – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

3 Showtime Hannah – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

5 Karaoke Queen – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the home turn.

7 Piazza Minerva – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn.

8 Joni Rudderless – Dragged down by another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

Race 3 – TAB NOVICE (2) 380m

4 She's Our Cruze – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start. Improved onto the heels of another runner rounding the first turn.

6 Stone – Slow to begin.

7 Big Bad Bruce – Dragged down by another runner rounding the first turn and was severely checked losing considerable ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities.

8 Tokin Beach – Slow to begin. Raced wide through the first turn.

Race 4 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICE BEST 8 380m

1 Memory Lane – Slow to begin.

4 Rev Up Zeus – Checked across the heels of another runner at the top of the home straight.

Race 5 - MAGIC CARPET CLEANING GRADE 5 (1) 380m

2 Chelsea Hanh – Slow to begin.

4 Fever Lee – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost considerable ground. Raced wide through the home turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities.

6 Scotch Queen – Improved onto the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

8 Dynamism – Clipped on the heels by another runner rounding the first turn.

Race 6 - HICKORY INDUSTRIES GRADE 5 (2) 380m

1 Seat's Taken – Slow to begin.

3 Velocity Caligo – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

4 Mulga Bill – Slow to begin.

5 Showtime Ella – Checked across the heels of another runner in the home straight.

6 Stressful Hope – Slow to begin.

7 Wild Rumour – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start and lost ground.

Race 7 - BELFORD KENNELS MIXED 4/5 380m

1 Amarillo Slim – Slow to begin. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn.

2 Showtime Caesar – Slow to begin.

3 New To Me – Bumped with another runner rounding the home turn.

6 Showtime Joe – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

7 Fat Jack – Bumped with another runner rounding the home turn.

Race 8 - HAROLD & DESMA HOVI GRADE 4 380m

Stewards delayed the All Clear to review the video footage of the race regarding the lure position in the back straight. 2 Inconsequential – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground. Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the home turn.

4 Fulton – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

7 More Sensation – Dragged down by another runner rounding the first turn.

8 Limitless Speed – Slow to begin.

Race 10 - JUSTIN REID GRADE 5 (3) 380m

1 Jamie Tartt – Slow to begin.

3 Elusive Emma – Clipped on the heels by another runner rounding the first turn.

4 Shian Quinn – Shifted out across the heels of another runner and raced wide through the home turn.

5 Hunter Street – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

7 Zulu Jack – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

8 Never Cry – Improved onto the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and was checked.
