General: Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident in the kennel block on Tuesday the 13th of December where trainer Mr Heath Ardle removed one of his greyhounds from the kennel block despite the instructions of the kennel attendant for the greyhound to remain in the kennels. After hearing evidence from trainer Mr Ardle and kennel attendant Miss Charlotte Cumming. Stewards issued a charge under the provisions of GAR156(h) that trainer Mr H Ardle failed to comply with a lawful order from a club official at a greyhound meeting. Mr Ardle pleaded guilty to the charge. Subsequently Stewards fined Mr Ardle $200 and advised him of his right to an internal review.

1 Teamplay Miss – Slow to begin. Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

2 That's Hectic – Slow to begin.

 

4 Jingalong Lotte – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

7 Showtime Lydia – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

8 Ebby Von – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of the trainer that revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

Race 2 - GREYHOUNDS MAKE GREAT PETS NOVICE 380m

 

1 Samurai Mind – Slow to begin.

 

5 Drop Anchor – Marginally slow to begin. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn.

 

7 Fully Blessed – Checked off the heels of another runner leaving the first turn and lost ground.

 

8 Clown Of Class – Marginally slow to begin. Raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the remainder of the race.

 

Race 3 – TAB NOV/M 498m

 

1 Big Ram – Raced wide in the back straight.

 

7 She's Our Cruze – Bumped by another runner shortly after the start.

 

8 Miss Von Strudel – Bumped by another runner and forced to race wide approaching the first turn.

 

Race 4 - # JCOOL AIR CONDITIONING 5PW 380m

 

1 Flat Tyre – Shifted out and raced wide in the home straight.

 

4 Orara Mullet – Slow to begin.

 

6 Big Bad Bruce – Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the first turn and lost considerable ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed an injury to the near hind gluteal muscle and was stood down from racing for 10 days.

 

8 Annabelle Rocks – Forced to race wide rounding the first turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed a minor laceration to the near hind foot. No stand down time was given.

 

Race 5 - ALL RIG LIFTING & ENGINEERING GRADE 5 (1) 380m

 

1 Potato Cake – Clipped on the heels by another runner approaching the first turn. Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the home turn.

 

2 Eyes On Meg – Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the first turn and lost ground. Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground. Checked across the heels of another runner rounding the home turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities.

 

3 Ryan's Pick – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

 

4 Dennis Denuto – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

 

5 Londonderry Lady – Checked off the heels of another runner approaching the home turn.

 

8 Blazing Infrared – Slow to begin.

 

Race 6 - BURDEKIN VET SERVICE MIXED 3/4 380m

 

2 Spike The Punch – Slow to begin. Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

 

4 Showtime Bobby – Slow to begin. Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground. Raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the remainder of the race.

 

5 Flash Fever – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start.

 

6 Secret Shades – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn.

 

7 Memory Lane – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed an injury the near fore triceps muscle and was stood down from racing for 10 days.

 

8 Juliette Keats – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

 

Race 7 - MAGIC CARPET CLEANING GRADE 5 498m

 

1 Floral Marg – Slow to begin. Lost considerable ground in the back straight and took no further competitive part in the event. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Brad Belford regarding the racing performance of Floral Marg. After reviewing the video footage, Mr Belford and Stewards agreed that the greyhound appeared to be amiss as she was pursuing the lure but losing ground from the rest of the field. Considering the veterinary report, Stewards acting under the provisions of GAR129(a) deemed the performance unsatisfactory and Floral Marg will need to complete a satisfactory trial prior to any future nomination. Mr B. Belford advised Stewards that the greyhound will be leaving his kennel after today’s race.

 

2 Limitless Speed – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the turn off the back straight and lost ground.

 

4 Wild Rumour – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the home turn.

 

7 Jebrynah Astra – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the turn off the back straight.

 

8 Galileo Brae – Raced wide rounding the first turn.

 

Race 8 - SKIPS TRANSPORT GRADE 4 498m

 

3 Kiah Beach – Shifted out and bumped with another runner shortly after the start.

 

4 Iron Lad – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn.

 

6 More Sensation – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed an injury to the offside front toenail. No stand down time was given.

 

8 Saint Bluey – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start and almost fell, losing considerable ground. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed split webbing to the nearside front foot and was stood down from racing for 10 days.

 

Race 9 - HUNNY POT NQ GRADE 5 (2) 380m

 

1 Stone – Slow to begin. Checked across the heels of another runner approaching the home turn.

 

2 Amarillo Slim – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

3 Patty's Regret – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and was checked losing ground.

 

5 Starlight Belle – Slow to begin.

 

6 Mali's Whitey – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

8 Midnight Image – Raced wide rounding the first turn.

 

Race 10 - LOUNDS SEAFOOD GRADE 5 (3) 380m

 

2 Where's The Ship – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start. Clipped on the heels by another runner rounding the first turn.

 

3 Shiro Kuma – Checked off the heels of another runner rounding the first turn and lost ground.

 

4 Canya Beth – Tightened for racing room shortly after the start and was checked losing ground. Finished the race tailed off last. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed no apparent abnormalities. Stewards spoke to trainer’s representative Mr Greg Pickard regarding Canya Beth’s seemingly disappointing performance in today’s race. Mr Pickard stated that the greyhound has been racing well below her peak performance since coming on season in October. Mr G. Pickard also stated that Canya Beth will be leaving the kennel after today’s run with the owner’s intention to breed with her. Stewards noted the explanation and took no further action.

 

5 Stressful Day – Checked off the heels of another runner shortly after the start and lost ground.

 

6 Seat's Taken – Tightened for racing room approaching the first turn and was checked losing ground. Shortened stride approaching the finishing line when appeared to have sustained an injury. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that revealed an injury to the offside hock and was stood down from racing for 28 days. Trainer Mr Glen Olsen was advised that the greyhound will need to trial prior to any future nomination. Seat’s Taken was taken to Burdekin Veterinary Services for further assessment and treatment. This matter will be referred to the Greyhound Injury Review Panel.

 

7 Zarr Oso – Tightened for racing room shortly after the start and was checked losing ground.
